Here is a close up of Seth in his first BBB http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u157/seths_mummy/?action=view¤t=2008.jpg
I was a little worried about them not being absorbant enough yet - I've washed them 3 times. First time with 1/4 detergent and the last 2 times with none - do you think they'll be ok? I know the wool cover is lanolised properly and I've put a quadruple layer of microfleece between the nappy and the cover. What do you think the chance of wicking would be?
Hehe how cute. As for the absorbancy there is really only one way to find out the way Seth pees!!
they should be right. BUT Seth does pee for Australia.lmao
Good Luck. lets hope for a dry night, well for the sheets to be dry anyway!
Aww he's gorgeous! The BBB's fit him really well :D
I'm pretty sure it's only hemp that needs up to 8 washes to be at it's fullest absorbancy. Bamboo needs less :D Correct me if I'm wrong.....:P

Oh they look great on him! He must be made for cloth :D
Only way to find out if they'll work for you is to just sit back and see! Good luck!

Well, they leaked a bit, but he wasn't as wet as he used to be with sposie's. I'm going to look for a pair of flongies for him I think.
I really want to buy some more to start using through the day as well, and if he TTs soon, I can still use the nappies for the next one so I'm not wasting money IMO.
:detective: Might start another thread about what people think I should buy to build up a stash.........

awww very cute!!
Pitty they leaked though. I'd say that there was too much compression going on there by the sounds of things. When you say that they leaked, I'm assuming that he was wearing it for at least 9 hours over night, am I right ? Maybe you need to pop in a fold-up for extra boosting. Was his bed saturated ?

No the bed wasn't saturated - his pj pants were damp but he wears a fleece sleep suit over the top so this stopped the sheets from getting wet. Yeah, he wore it for maybe 12 hours, and I had the small snap-in in the front, and the long one sort of folded around the small one, if that makes sense? Then I put a strip of microfleece between the nappy and the cover. I'm thinking that the cover might be a bit too big too, that would contribute to a leak wouldn't it?

Hi :D 2 things, Your credit card is in plain view so someone could zoom in and get your card number(I only noticed because I have the same card, they are cute hehe) and do you think the nappy could have been done up tighter? Maybe he leaked out the front?
Sorry I am not help at all...

Thanks for the headsup on the credit card thing - it's a VISA debit though, so would anyone be able to use it with just the number? I think you have to have the 3 digit number from the back too don't you? Or should I just take the photo off photobucket?
And I don't think I could have done the BBB up any tighter, hard to explain but it kinda bunches up at each side at the front at the top, if that makes sense? I did wonder though if maybe I'm not putting the snap-ins in properly? Cos they seem to be peeking out over the top at the front

Most definitely. Did you use a Baby Beehinds wool wrap ? If the nappy isn't nice and snug inside the cover there's a chance it will cause a leak. It needs to be semi-tight (not too tight) so there's no chance that the top of the nappy or the rim of the legs with pop out of the cover. Does that make sense ? I hope so.
As Gumby suggested, See if you can make the nappy a tad more tighter, even one more snap along, it doesn't need to be both so they meet together.. just one.
Gumby - Good thinking about the CC  You never know hey!
ETA : In regards to the snaps.. If your DS nappy is more soaked at the back of the nappy then you need to put the long snap in at the front of the nappy and the short one at the back, If he is more of a front wetter then you put the short one at the front and the long one at the back. If you find that he is a front wetter the short snap in will poke out of the nappy a bit but that will not make any difference as the cover reaches over that.. or it should anyway. Does that make sense ?
I know where I work we still use the manual c/c machines so you never know

No, it was a knitted cover. It isn't snug around his legs though so I think that may be part of the problem.
Now, with these snap-ins on the BBB - maybe another part of the problem is that there is too much bulk at the front of the nappy and seeing as he's a restless tummy sleeper, it's leaking? So should I put the short snap in at the front and the long one at the back?

Knitted wool covers don't need to be snug or tight fitting. Just so long that the nappy isn't poking out at the top.
Umm... I'm really not sure about tummy sleepers and the way that the nappy needs to be boosted. I know there's a few Bubhubers that do have tummy sleepers in cloth who had the same leaking problem and rectified it. Hopefully they can come forward and tell you what they do.
All the best!
I know with the boys (both tummy sleepers) that a lot of their wetness in the morning is caused by their singlets and PJ pants folding over the top of the cover. (as it's boosted there's sometimes a small 'gap' between the cover and their stomach if that makes sense... so while they are sleeping their PJ bottoms end up folding over the top of the nappy and wicking moisture up onto their shirts.:banghead:
REALLY annoying. Could this be the problem??
You need to have a cover that does up snuggly around the tummy and completely over the nappy so the nappy doesn't create a 'gap'
I'm still experimenting... And I found my bamboos needed quite a few washes to reach maximum absorbancy... I started noticing a difference at about 6 washes.

Thanks Gretel, I'm just washing them again now, so that will be wash number 4. When I put them on him, I put the cover over the top, then the singlet pulled down over the cover, and the pj pants up over the singlet but I don't think they sit about the top of the cover. The cover does completely cover the nappy, there's no way that it can wriggle down so that the top of the nappy is exposed. The one I've been using is an XL and I have 2 Ls that I haven't used yet. I've just lanolised them and am going to use one of them tonight and see how we go. I'm thinking maybe the cover is too big, so not containing the moisture as much as it should be, if that makes sense.
Also, would it be beneficial to put a strip of microfleece between bub and the nappy? It seems that his skin is wet when I get him up in the mornings, would microfleece help keep him a bit drier?
I have some heavy duty polar fleece that I put between the boys and the nappy at night. I've cut it so it's long enough to go from the back of the nappy and be brought up over their penis and doubled back, so they've got 2 layers of fleece where they wet. It definitely makes a difference to the 'wet' feeling.
