Hi our DD hasnt been herself all day today she has been ravenous with food drinking about 3 more bottles than normal... very cranky and over tired but refusing to sleep (more than normal) and just generally grizzly- although she has her usual happy periods but followed by hard to settle crying- im just wondering as she is bout 12 weeks is this sounding just like a bit of a growth spurt day or something else... she doesnt have a fever and seems well other than being very grizzly and hungry. Not even cuddles from mum seems to settle her easily:gloomy:
Yes i know i am sounding like a paranoid first time mum but im not really sure what they do doing their growth spurts and wondering if this is it... or whether is sounds like something else other mums bubs have gone through.
Any ideas would be appreciated..:o

It could very well be a growth spert, babies go through growth sperts every six weeks, but every baby is different.
She could also have a bit of wind?Is she a windy bub?

At 3-4mths old they do have a growth spurt and unsettled times, it lasts for about 2 weeks. Then it starts again around 6 mths, which is a good time to start solids.
My bub is 6 1/2 months and he has just jumped up to 4 x 250ml bottles, plus 2-3 solids a day
Josh has days like this and often I can't tell why. I've found by asking other mums that it's completely normal to have some days when sleep is hard to come by and lots of feeds are the order of the day ... and then a couple of days later bubs will sleep all day and drop back on the feeds. I think it can be caused by almost anything - growth spurt, sore teeth, stress (eg. if you have a big event and you're getting stressed bubs will sometimes pick up on that and need you more) or impending milestone.
Josh last did this a couple of days ago. He got me up for 3 overnight feeds instead of one and he just didn't want to sleep much. Then yesterday he started crawling. I think he'd been practicing crawling in his sleep and awake in his cot at all possible times, hence the restless sleeping, etc. He did the same thing in the days before he started rolling.
It can also mean that bubs is sick, but you have other signs of that like not interested in playing, fever, 'not normal self', and usually they drink less not more.
