Woke up at 5.30am on Tuesday. (Well not really woke as I hadn't exactly slept all night anyways). Off to hospital to be admitted for the c/section for 6am. Arrived and taken to quiet own room. Boy was it dark outside...
Heard babies in the background and actually cried. Cried because I didn't want to go through with it! I wanted to go back home and not have to do this. Bugger should have thought of that 9mths ago hey!!!!!
Middy in and out until finally at 7.15am a wardman's was an extra visitor! This was it -time was up - no turning back now. Off down to be prepared I go. Now feeling sick. Can I still go home??
In prep room and anestetic person blah blahing but I couldn't take it all in so just nodded at times I felt were appropriate. Time to go to the OP theatre.
Spinal block done and now I really lose the plot. I start shaking and crying (again) as my legs literrally go from under me - oh I hate that feeling. Finally on the theatre table and then I can't breathe!
OMG what is happening. I had someone chocking me. Ops the spinal block went further up my torso than it was supposed to. Yep right up to my neck giving me the feeling of not being able to breathe. Lucky they confirmed I was alive as they said the "monitor still shows you are breathing" Oh good!
Fast forward to 8.36am. Emma Rose has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She gets taken to nursery and I go to recovery. I have a snooze in recovery then I am reunited with my big beautiful daughter.
Put her on my breast and OMG she's been reading her breastfeeding manual. Straight on and snuggly.
Phew thanks for getting this far (people never seem to write about their birth via elective c/section so I thought I would).
Photos to be loaded on the puter some time tonight from J.
Finaly home today - only just - she has already lost over a pound and also has a lump on her back that they were concerned about and so thought I had to be in hospital for another night - lucky they said I can go home and they will keep an eye on her (so more hospital day visits - that's ok though). That's a completly different story so will write an update later on.
