A friend asked me this question tonight... but I dunno why she thought I'd know, I've never gotten married. lol.

She's figuring out her budget and wants to know much they might cost. She's considering DIY, but it depends on how much it'd cost to get nice ones professionally done.

How much did you pay?

My friend just spent over $1,000 for about 100 of them!

I made my own - they were really nice, and it cost me about $80 for the papers, ribbons, stamp, embossing powder. I made over 100 invites.

I made my own too and it definitely cost less than $100 for everything.

I spent about $400 to get 80. I wanted them to look professionally printed and I was doing alot of other DIY stuff like making little jams for gifts and doing my own flower arrangements, with mom's help.

I liked that they could do a few design proofs up for us then I could say what I liked from each and then they were custom made for us. I still did the folding and stuffing stuff. You just need to shop around a bit and get some quotes.

I amde our invites, place cards and thankyous including photos for $80 and I thought they looked just as good as a professional print in fact I was asked where I had them done. With a good printer and imagination you can save yourself a fortune these days.

I got mine made from a lady on Ebay... they look very professional and so far everyone who has received them loves them!

They cost $2 each from memory. She does include envelopes ...however they are plain white so I brought Red ones and a silver pen and wrote the addresses on them, then got some Metallic Heart envelope seals.. they came up great

i made mine too.

i got beautiful cards photos of flowers (most were one flower on a dark background) they are made by "koala cards" for $1 each.

i used velum to print a nice poem and our details and inviting them to the wedding. then cut this with special scissors to create a fancy edge and to fit the card. i used a gold heart pin in each corner and some i used clear craft glue and outlined the centre flower.

on the inside left i printed the details of the venue, address and time on baby pink cardstock. then made a boarder with tiny baby pink/silver ribbon. on the other side i had the reply card with our address and stamp on one side and the other with space for them to leave names of whos coming and two fav songs so we can play them for the dance floor.

the reply card was held down in one corner by a handmade wedding dress or cake using baby pink, white and silver as the colours. so the reply card could be easily lifted from the card and used.

you can play around with different fonts and even print little hearts.

look at websites for ideas on wording.

goodluck.

i was on a really really tight budget and went to a cheap store (cheap as chips) picked up a pack of quite nice invites for $2 a pack and only used 3packs so for $6 was a great deal. got the placecards from there too.

$600 for all our invites (around 100) place cards, order of service and wishing well poem. I'm to lazy to do them myself and not really that artistic. Plus I was doing a lot of other things so that was one less thing I had to worry about.

i made my own but i bought plain creme cards and then printed the inside off and stuck it inside the card, i only had like 20 invites but it was so simple and sweet!

My sister spent $1500 for 100 invites...kinda still falling over at that price, people only screw them up anyhow LOL

I was going to make mine, and for around 80 invites it was going to cost be about $125. However friends are making them now for nothing (they own a print shop!) :D as DF is doing some work for them in return.

However, if you didn't want to make them, there are absolute heaps on eBay (handmade ones) that you can get for around $ each. Quite often also, they can also do the RSVP cards, placecards, menus etc for a few $$ more as well.

Wow I guess I spent a lot - $400 for about 35! Included rsvp cards and all printing etc. Everyone has commented on how they are the most beautiful invites they have ever seen so I guess they'd want to be for the price!!
