View Full Version : 3 yr Vomiting help pls !!!!
We live on Brissy and DD3 has come down with the gastro /vomiting thats going around here she has been :barf: all arvo so took her to doc as we also have a 6 week old and dont want her to get it.
Went to the doc she had a maxolon needle at about 5:45 and is still :barf: now and cant keep down even little bits of water she hasnt peeded since about 2pm so i guess what i want to know is when do you go to hospital and when should the needle start to work as i thought it should have worked by now
Thankyou for reading in advance
I have no idea about that needle, but maybe it's one of those things that don't work for everyone???
Is she still vomiting even when she hasn't had anything to eat/drink? If she is, and it's keeping her awake I'd probably take her to the hospi just to be safe...but if she's sleeping then let her sleep and see how she handles some water in the morning.
:hugs: hope she's ok :)

Call 13health it is the number to speak to a nurse at the hospital and they will tell you if you need to take her up there.
Im sorry to hear you and bub are having a hard time.

the poor little thing.
I think the needle should have started working by now. Maybe ring the 13Health and ask their opinion.
Thanks guys will try the 13 health number she has just gone to sleep in front of the tv so will see how she goes while i ring:thumbsup:

Poor little love..
It might be a bit too cold, but even try and encourage her to suck on some water icey poles to keep her dehydrated.. encourage her to drink water too..
Hope she feels better soon..

Hi one of my boys had the vomiting with the flu and he was absolutely miserable. If you are concerned definately ring 13Health, something else I found good was giving him small sips of lemonade, this at least got some fluid into him.
He was down for about 3 days in total, it really knocks them. Lots of cuddles as well. I hope she is feeling better soon.

let us know how you go. i think if it was me, i'd just take her in to the hospital, mainly because i'm paranoid about everything i'm hearing in the news lately with little sick kids everywhere....
hope she is ok. tell us what 13health say...

hey!
Sorry to hear your little one is suffering
Yes, the Maxalon injection should have worked by now...normally takes effect within 10-15 mins....sometimes when there's a nasty gastro bug inside which desperately wants out, it doesn't work very effectively...
I would recomend giving small amounts of oral fluid at frequent intervals...ie 5mls every 5 mins (gives the mucous membranes a chance to absorb the fluid without over loading the tum) Do you have any rehydration mixture??..that would be an excellent one to try and give...if not stick to plain water.
If you are concerned...(ie she becomes drowsy, little urine output, rising temp) go to the local emergency dept where they can start IV fluids...
Hope this helps

Oh, sorry...forgot to mention.....TOTALLY scrub your hands before touching your baby, and don't allow your sick little one to touch him.....these things are transmitted hand>mouth... but can be passed via toys, clothes etc.....so cleanliness is vital:wave:
When ds1 had a nasty bout of gastro at 2yrs of age the doctor gave me a syringe and like Tanya said I had to squirt 5ml into his mouth every 5minutes.. Took him a few days to get over it and for those few days all he did was lie on his little couch or sleep (which is so not right for my ds lol)
Thanks everyone foryour replies rang 13health and they said to take her to hospitall so at 11 we went down they gave her a tablet and some iceblocks and then we came home at 230 she still isnt all that good still:barf: sometimes but at least we know what to watch for now any way

My DD had the exact same thing last week and we took her to the hosp after we called the 13 HEALTH number, and they wouldn't give her ANYTHING other than Gastrolyte.
If vomitting continues or worsens after having maxalon it's usually a good indication that they may be allergic. A few people i know have found this out the hard way.
To help stop vomitting you can buy Dramamine Junior at a pharmacy, it's main use is to prevent and treat travel sickness.
