I am sure that this would have already been covered, but can't seem to find anything in the posts.

My DD is 17 mths old and is currently having 2 bottles of cows milk per day, one at lunch and the other before bed. I have been slowly trying unsuccessfully to get her off bottles and onto a sippy cup since about 12 mths. I have now reverted to a bit of tough love and stopped her cold turkey on Friday morning, but she has not had more than a sip of milk (except on her cereal) since then. She loves milk out of her bottle, but screws up her face when given it in a cup.

Does anyone have any ideas to make this easy? Should I kept going and she will eventually drink from a cup when she realises that she isn't getting her bottles? I am giving her lots of cheese and yoghurt etc but is she still missing out?

Please help!!!

Susan.

I was in a similar situation to you (my son is almost 19months) I had tried ealier on to stop his night time bottle (as he doesnt have one during the day anymore, cut them out himself :) ) with no success, he would cry and cry and in the end I just gave in.

Then one day last week I ran out of milk and I couldnt get to the shops so he went with out it that night. He cried for maybe 5-7 mins then fell asleep. Since then I havent given him the bottle so success at last:D

With the cup thing I found DS loved the comfort of the teat on the bottle so I would offer him water in his bottle if he was desperate LOL and then offer him a cup of milk, I found this worked well as he still had the option of the milk (in a cup) or the comfort of the teat (but with water).

He takes the cup now :D

I hope this helps, if you really want to wean her off the bottle then be persistent but if your not 100% sure just wait a while and she might wean herself :)
