Hey guys

for some time now kenzee has been haveing spells where she goes blank and her eyes roll back in her head and her head goes down like her chin on her chest and does funny movement with her tongue and mouth, becuae of the tongue and mouth thing we put it down to reflux ( i know bad mum of the year goes to me how stupid ) any way the dr witnessed this the other day and is now concerned she is having seizures i already had the doubt in my mind as someone mentioned it to me the other day and was planning on bringing it up with the pead on monday, so the letter from the GP wil help explain it so that a bonus as i find it hard explaining things to drs prefer them to see KWIM

Any way what do you guys think should i be worried, she does this up to 7 or 8 times a day what wil they do to check if not seizures what could it be

Im actualy really upset by it becuase if they are seizures i can beleive i didnt know i am withh erhall the time and never thought any thing of it, she has other health issues as some of you know, and this may be yet another hurdle for her to over come

Hi there ,

What other medical problems does she have? Do you htink it is related to this?

I'm not sure whether to mention this or not but it's the only info I can give you...
I have a neice who has/had seizues...she has been diagnosed with a condition called Tuberous Sclerosis (it is extrememly rare)....I dont want to scare you but the seizures you describe sound similar and it might just be worth mentioning it so they can check it out and hopefully rule it out. I think they did brain scans and things to diagnose it. SHe is doing much, much better now:)

Pm me if you want to chat.

HUGS TO you! Let us know how you go!

I'm not trying to scare you either but what you describe sound almost identical to the seizures my 2yr old neice has. She has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and medication is controlling the seizures really well. She still has small 'bumpies' (as SIL calls them) where she'll get a little wobbly and has to sit down for a minute but that's it.

this (http://neurology.health-cares.net/absence-seizure.php) describes the type of seizure my neice has so might be helpful..

Hey Mikenzeesmum, I know seizures is common with some kids with Mito and also Megans disorder, It's probably all related, can also be due to low blood sugars? You have probably had an eeg by now??? There are heaps of anti seizure meds!!!

Hi there, my DS seizures were picked up at 6 weeks of age with an EEG and MRI when he was given the rare diagnosis of BPNH (I won't even go into the full name). 2.5 years down the track we are still seeing geneticists, neuro's and various other clinics to try and get some conclusive answers and diagnosis, the good news however is that he has not had a seizure for well over 2 years and has been medication free for 7 months now.

I hope your appt went well and I'm sure they will be doing the best for your DD (and your family as a whole).
