Hi,

Can you tell me what the role of a Child Birth Educator is and also what courses have you done to achieve this role. I am interested in doing a Doula course later and would like to offer a few services to potential clients.

thanks for your help.

Child birth International offer a child birth education diploma- actually- you can do the doula component at the same time..

I haven't done the course, but know others who are, and have really enjoyed it

I was thinking of doing the childbirth international course, but my (highly educated, doctor of midwifery) doula lecturer told me that the Optimum Birth doula course, which I had done, gave one full knowledge to teach childbirth education. The thing is, a doula IS a childbirth educator - that is her role throughout a womans pregnancy, and it's her responsibility to have a knowledge of everything in order to best support a woman in labour. So, yes, the Optimum Birth doula course is as comprehensive as they come for doula/educator work. All the best! :)
