Confused!

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any helpful advice.

Basically i have thought i have been pregnant for a few weeks and if I am I would only be very early (maybe 3-4 weeks). I did a pregnosis dip and read pregnancy test on late Thursday afternoon and within a few minutes a second blue line appeared, indicating I'm pregnant. Went to the docs on Friday morning and the urine test there came up negative. Sent me for a blood test (pretty sure it was a quantitive blood test) and phoned up yesterday and was told the test was negative! Have today done two more of the same pregnancy test and both have come up positive. The instructions say a shadow line may appear where the positive result may be, and to disregard it if you cannot see the line at arms length.

The line is only faint, but definitely there within 5 minutes (probably two minutes) and it does have a blue colour to it and can be seen at arms length!
What do you think my chances of being pregnant are considering I just had a negative quantitive blood test?

Any advice would be appreciate!

hmm im not really sure, but im sure i have heard somewhere that bloodtest could be wrong, rare but im sure i heard they can be (think if it very early on?). im sure someone on here could give u better advice.
Home pregnancy tests can be wrong, but seriously, whats the chances of it being wrong 3 different times!!??

anyways maybe go back and see a doctor and tell them. as i can really help! :rolleyes:

I have heard that blood tests can be wrong, but I am not sure, I guess it may depend on how early the blood test was taken. I would leave it a few days and try again, take your home test with you to show the dr and ask them to do another blood test. How late are you?

That's the thing!

I am on the pill and purposely skipped my period in December. I continued taking it through Jan but i took my last active tablet in my pack about 48 hours late! I then started my sugar pills, but never got my period and still have no signs of it coming. When I finished my sugar pills I stopped taking the pill altogether in case I was pregnant. I know that whilst I was taking the sugar pills hubby and I did the horizontal tango and didn't use any other protection! So if i was taking the pill I would have started my sugar pills yesterday! I have two little ones 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 and with my second baby I went off the pill after taking it for 8 months and conceived the very next week. I am just worried because I know my body and if I'm not pregnant then something else is wrong, but what?

That was the first I had skipped! I told my doctor about 2 weeks ago about the situation and she basically told me it was impossible that I would be pregnantf! Over the past week I have been having cramps like my period is coming, but nothing. I am also tired more than usual and feeling off at times! It's just frustrating not knowing!

With my 3rd pregnancy I had several bfn on the hpt's and several negative blood tests before I got a postive result. I also had a few pregnancy symptoms but my Gp told me I couldn't be pregnant. So I left it a while. Subsequently I didn't actually get a positive result until I was 8 weeks pregnant!! I think that I did the hpt's quite early and same with the blood tests so therefore got a negative result. If I was you I would wait a while and do both again. Good luck and I hope that you get the result that you want!

I have thought maybe I was going crazy, because I do think that i am pregnant. With my first two I just knew, and I know my body. Everyone I have spoken to says "maybe your stressed, that's why you don't have your period", and I am sure the Doctor thinks I am a nut case! Oh well, will just have to wait it out!!!

I think your pregnant i had 5-6 negative pregnancy tests before the test showed positive and even then it was very light.My doc said a 2nd line is a 2nd line and you know what that means:) .I would wait a week or so and then do another test if it is still BFP then goto the docs and get a blood test.

It took me 5 tests with my second child to get a pos and i asked for a blood test which came back neg and then a few days later i did a hpt again and it came up pos. i hope you get the result you want though i am guessing that you are preg. your symptoms sound the same as i have been feeling and i think i am preg and im on the pill though my two tests have come up neg. i think this may be my imagination but sometimes i feel i tingling , fluttering feeling in my tummy. Read my other threads, feeling ill, and preg and pill to see what i have been talking about.

Once again, thanks so much everyone - you've all been really helpful! I actually stumbled onto bubhub in error, but I am soo glad I did, everyone is just great. It's nice to know that I am not alone and that others can relate! Most of my friends don't have kids so they find it hard to relate and look at me like i'm a crazy woman! But I can't fight the feeling that I'm pregnant off! I will perhaps try and wait to the end of the week and do another test. I will just have to keep myself occupied. Hubby has taken 10 days off and on Thursday we are all going away for two nights to visit friends in Kingaroy - So I figure if If I can keep busy I'll be right! Easier said than done! The not knowing is just killing me!!! We didn't plan on having anymore children and Hubby stresses how we would afford it if I was pregnant. Part of me though would be a little excited if I was, but boy would life be hectic with 3 kids 3 and under!

Yes Blood test can be wrong and so can HPT so its a bit of a lose lose situation, i guess just wait and go for more tests.

I had my blood test when i was 4-5 wks and it came back positive but the preg hormone was VERY low, even earlier it can be immpossible for lab to tell, but was told by gp that home preg tests basically don't give false positives, false neg, but rarely a false +, cause of the hormone they are testing

Used to skip my period all the time on the pill, the following month it was usually really heavy though, but after being on the pill for +5 yrs my periods basically stopped, I think u can't get pg on sugar pills cause the egg is basically too old to make ababy???!!! Sugar pills don't do anything,and have no hormone in them, there just there to remind u to take a pill each day,

I know that you can't get pregnant on the sugar pills but only if you have taken 7 active tablets in a row. As my last active tablet was taken 48 hours late (so would be considered missed) I then continued with the sugar pills for the next 7 days and then went off the pill altogether (and Hubby has been taking care of contraception since the day after my last sugar pill). After reading my instructions to my pill, what I should have done is skipped the sugar pills (as I hadn't taken 7 consecutive active tablets in a row) and started my next pack! But stupid me didn't even think to read the instructions until I didn't get my period! I just don't know, so confused!

I once deliberately skipped my periods while on the pill and when my next period was due I felt really sick coming up to it and I thought I was getting the flu - sweaty, tired, nauseaus etc and the doc said it could have been because of not taking the pill properly. I ended up getting my period 5 days late and have never done it again!!

Maybe you're body is just reacting to skipping your period?????

Best of luck to you, i hope you find out what happening with your body either way. Its sound confusing to have a postive on the hpt and a negative on a blood test, so maybe your either in early pregnacy or your bodys playing tricks on you. Keep us informed!:)

No news yet! Can't get into the Doctors until towards end of week and that's when we are going away. Think I will do a test at end of the week and see what comes up. I feel a bit funny going back to the doctor and I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy, but also the doctor hasn't given me any other explanations as to what else it could be. Will keep you updated.

I have had the same sort of thing,i have done 5 hpt's all positive yet when to doctor yesterday and he did a urine test first came up a faint positive then took blood. Got the results back today and it was negative i am really confused now.

I have just been reading your posts, and your situation sounds very similar to mine.

I had my blood test today and will have results tomorrow. Any news from you? Did you have the blood test. I hope that you get the news you want.

I am in the same situation at the moment. I have been taking the pill for the last 16mths since my daughter was born. Last week I was supposed to get AF and they never came. This has never happended to me before. So I did a few HPTs and they all came up negative. I went to the doctor and told him the situation and he thought I was an idiot. I said that I have never had this happen to me before and then his reply was that sometimes the pill can make your period very light that you might not even get a period. I said to him that I have never heard of this before and his smart ar$e comment was "Well I have". He made me out to be a di@khead.

So he said stop taking the pill incase you are pregnant and do a test the following week. Well that day is today so I will pop out and get another HPT and if that comes up negative I don't know what to do. Where did AF go, very wierd? Now I have to wait for AF to come back before I can start the pill again, well thats what the Dr said any way. But my AF has never been regular. I fell pregnant with my daughter and I hadn't even had AF for 8 months.

So I am glad that I am not the only one with this problem.

Gosh that would have been terrible for you with your Dr. They are sooooo insensitive sometimes (some drs - not all). Sounds like he was sitting there in his little ivory castle, not wanting to give you any comfort or info to help reasssure you. I am sure that people like that get satisfaction with witholding information, as they see it as power!! Gosh that makes me mad.

I really feel for you. The whole not knowing is just the hardest isn't it. I actually would be ok if it was a BFN, I JUST WANT TO KNOW ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

And same as you, if I am not pg, then where the hell is AF????
