Hi, i'm looking for a tried & tested health/muesli bar recipe.
Does anyone have a favourite they can share?

Ooooo i do!!:D

well I just guess the sevings of each thing but i use these ingrediants


Fruity Muesli(cereal works best)
Peanut Butter
and honeyThen u just spead it out along a rectangle flat pan and shove it in the freezer/fridge..

and then cut it into bars
and WHALAH!

I also usually add lots of raisins .. as they are YUM

Or theres this recipe i've tryed which is REALLY YUMMY
but it takes abit more time to make

Muesli Slice
Makes 32 pieces
Prep time 15 minutes
Cooking time 40 minutes
kJ 365 fat 2g sat fat neg


3/4 cup (110g) plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup (90g) rolled oats
3/4 cup (165g) caster sugar
3/4 cup (100g) chopped dried pineapple wedges
3/4 cup (100g) Craisins
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
1 tablespoon sunflower kernels, toasted
70g low-fat margarine
1/4 cup (90g) honey
1 egg, lightly beaten


Preheat oven to 180ºC. Grease and line a 18cm x 28cm pan.
Sift flour and baking powder together into a large bowl. Stir in remaining dry ingredients. Heat margarine, honey and 2 tablespoons water in a saucepan on low, until melted. Mix into dry ingredients. Stir through egg.
Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden and cooked when tested with a skewer. Cool in pan before cutting into squares.

Also, check out the 'Fail safe' diet/receipes and the net.

It s all about 'no preservative' sort of eating and i find it works great with DS who can be... spirited at the best of times!! lol

There's a yummy muesli slice thing... sorry im not too clear, if you're interested in more details, i can go look for my print out!!

Fail Safe muesli bar

1 cup flour
1 cup roalled oats
1 cup sunflower seeds or other grains
2 tbsp golden syrup
1/2 cup butter or marg
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup coconut
melt butter and goldensyrup, add a little hot water, mix everything together, add more hot water if need be, roll into balls, press flat and bake till golden brown

Oh & thanks for the idea. Failsafe looks like a pretty huge thing. I hadn't come accross it before. Thanks again.:thumbsup:

Good luck with the reading - did you manage to download the booklet thing she had on the site??
It's great to have printed out and flick thorugh every now and then. Plus my mum makes some thing out of there for us every now and then, so thats even better!!
There's some great ideas and hints/tip in there. I'm always careful about the 'nasty' preservatives i give DS.

The muesli slice is a bit crumbly sometimes, so you might have to tweek it a bit to get it to stick?? Or maybe i'm just a shocking cook and your turns out great! lol
