I know that during the early days, your boobs produce extra milk whether you have had one child or 678 children, I am just wondering about one of my boobs.
I seem to have a bit of an oversupply in one side only.
Every time I try and get bubs to latch on, I squirt him in the face!!!
He doesnt seem to be taking to well to the right side, so I change him to the left, which he takes to really well, let him get what he wants, change his nappy to wake him up a little and then put him back on the right side.
This morning, my right boob leaked so much, I grabbed a bottle to put underneath it and collected 60 mls without even touching it.
Is this normal?
Does anyone have any tips to help me get my little on on my right side properly first time?
I was thinking about expressing a small amount first, then giving it to him. He seems to take it well after a little bit has already come out.
Does this sound like a good idea?
also, is it ok to just boil bottles in hot water to sterilize them?

Thanks in advance

That is quite normal - wait till he get's bigger and laughs when that happens, it's so cute.

Absolutely.

That is what I would do. Ensure you don't favour the left side too much as you may end up with mastitis which isn't very pleasent at all.

Not sure about the bf question.

Yes it is ok to boil bottles in water for a minimum of 5 minutes. Hope that helps

Just keep trying to put him on your right one. If it helps to express a lil do it. There is just more in the right one because he isn't drinking as much from there. Just persevere with it and he will eventually go on to your right side just as easily. And it is fine to sterilise bottles in boiling water but you can buy sterilisers that you put in the microwave for cheap that steam the bottles.
Good Luck:wave:

Awesome thanks.
I havea feeling that it might be because I was favouring the left side for a few days, as it was tender and sore in one spot, I thought I was getting mastitis, so I always started on the left. It has fixed itself now. I always try and feed on both sides every time.
Thanks for the help girls.

I was told that you don't need to sterilise bottles or breastpumps for bm. Just wash in hot soapy water, and rinse in hot water twice. Allow to air dry. That was information from the ABA.

If bub dosn't want both side don't worry about trying to get him to have the other side. Just ensure that you feed from that side first the next feed (the side that wasn't taken).;)
