Hi Ladies,
I am hoping someone can help, I have a few questions.
I have been told my bub is sitting in a frank breech position and as I'm 35 weeks the likelyhood of turning is pretty minimal so I have been booked in for a c/s for when I'm 39 weeks. I'm not looking for people to tell me that c/s are bad and I should try for a vag birth.
What I'm asking is has anyone had any success with ECV with a frank breech?
Also I have heard that some bubs have problems with their hips because of this position...
Your stories and experiences will be muchly appreciated as I'm still tossing up doing an ECV or just resigning to the fact that I'll be having a caesar.
NO negitive responses please I am just looking for some positive
feedback.
Thanks
Michelle

What is ECV? My DD was also frank breech and was a c/s, though they did try to manually turn her.
Edit: she had one hip which was 'clicky' at birth, so we had a follow up ultrasound which showed them as being clear. She is now 3.5 years old and (in my opinion) is behind on her gross motor skills like running. But an xray at 3 and a bit years showed no physical problems in her hips, though there may be soft tissue issues we haven't found yet.

hi:wave:
i had a footling breech and up until 38weeks she was breech and i went into natural labour so had an emergency csection
(*my original csection date was two days later lol*) and no one tried turning her... just wanted to let u know that my csection was perfect and recovery was quick and painless...
goodluck :fingerscrossed:
Hey
I don't know what a frank breech is but my baby was breech, head near my sternum all throughout the pregnancy. Tried ECV, didn't work and had an emergency c section a week earlier than the planned one (went into labour). My c section went really well and my recovery was fantastic.
Good luck
Just wanted to add that my DD had a slight stiffness in her left hip which the CHN picked up at 9 months but the physiotherapist wasn't concerned about it. Will be seeing the physio again to see if it's still there . And I just found out what a frank breech was. I think my bub was a complete breech.

Thanks for your responses ladies
A Frank breech is when the legs are fully extended so that their feet are up by their ears and an ECV (External Cephalic Version) is where a dr tries to manually turn the baby through the abdomen. Because of the positioning of the legs in a frank breech, ECV doesn't always work as they get in the way of the turning.

I figured it out after posting. :p :o That was the problem we had, she was like a jackknife, wedged in there. We also didn't discover she was breech until 36.5 weeks (she'd been head down at 34 weeks) so by the time I had the ultrasound to confirm and her dad returned from his trip, it was closer to 38 weeks that we were trying to turn her. A bit late.
Good luck.
