Does anyone here on Metformin experience bad nausea? I started taking 1 x 500mg tablet last Monday, then increased it to 2 x 500mg tablets on Saturday. I've been feeling really nauseous, like I really want to vomit, and had to take myself off to bed last night at 9pm (very early for me) because I just felt very sick.

I am on CD45 (of a 41 day cycle, well the last 2 cycles have been that long anyway). I think my boobs are slightly sore and I'm feeling a bit more tired than usual but it's quite possible my mind is playing tricks on me (which it often does  ) so I'm not getting my hopes up. I did a HPT test on Thurs (CD41) which was :bfn:

I just can't remember feeling this sick when I was on Metformin late last year.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you :yelclap:

Hi EmsMum72, I am on metformin and take 3x500mg tablets a day. I am suppose to take 4 but i get nauseous and almost past out!

Maybe you need to re-introduce yourself to it a bit slower. My FS said to take 1 tablet for 2 weeks, then 2 tablets for 2 weeks and so on.

Good luck hun!

Thanks Mel,

When I started taking it last year I had 3 days on 500mg, then started on 1000mg after that and didn't feel sick. This time around I've had 5 days on 500mg, then 1000mg and I feel bludy awful. Might go back on to 500mg and see if I feel any better! I don't know how you manage 1500mg without wanting to :barf: all day. It's such an awful feeling.

Anyone else have bad side effects on Metformin? Or no side effects at all?

I had shocking nausea on Metformin - took about 6-8 weeks to wear off and have had nothing since then. I was on 500mg twice a day. The benefits for me have been huge so I was prepared to tolerate the nausea but it was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. I didn't eat much during that time. Morning sickness was a walk in the park compared to Metformin. But like I said - it wore off and was totally worth it.
