Why do we take clomid on different days?

I am just wondering because i have been taking clomid from day 3-7....but i have heard that some women take it differently...

I was told to take mine from day 5 to 9. I then have to have a blood test done on about day 23-24 to see if I ovulated. He said that I should expect to ovulate around day 16, hence the reason for having the blood test done later than day 21.

I have no idea why the different days it would be interesting to know though.

I have not started taking Clomid yet. Will start my first round the middle of this month. I have heard some ladies take it before bed, some in the morning. Dr did not tell me any particular time to take it. Is one better than the other?

I was told to take it days 5 - 9 in the morning, Dr said to make sure I take it in the morning, so it must make some difference. I haven't started taking it yet as af hasn't arrived :rolleyes:

I've read that some women take it at night before bed due to the side effects.

Not sure why some take Clomid on different days, could it be because of cycle length? Just a thought :idea:

From what I have read it really just depends on your OB when. Just their preference. Mine was 5-9
I recommend night time, it really does help with the side affects.

Yeah I don't know why and I was also wondering the same thing. Like many of the other I have been told to take it from day 5-9. I have changed GYN's so that will be interesting to see if he changes the day. If he does I will certainly ask why and I will let you know if I get an answer.

Yeah i don't know why either but i am a 5-9 day girl.
I have read something about taking it earlier in the cycle increases the amount of eggs and later increases the quality.

Therfore me taking 5-9 would be more for quality
someone takin 3-7 might be to increase eggs??

Starmummy that's a thought. I am taking clomid earlier for egg production because I had a lap so I think that might be right. Am going to my specialist on Thursday morning so will ask!

I apparently O on day 17 anyway....I have a 32ish day cycle! mind you last cycle just gone past i had a 33 day cycle! oh well.....I am getting monitored this month by ultrasound to see when i should O! so.....hopefully i get some answers!

Im still wating for AF to take rnd two of my clomid.
2 weeks over due but negative hpt's.
Having just come of the depo (wore off 8 weeks ago) it might still be messing with AF. :(

Congrats Ains! Hope it works for you! I've just come off taking my 5 days worth and feeling positive!
I asked the doc this morning about taking clomid on different days and she just said everyone is different and it is meant to mirror the hormonal surges of your own cycle which I guess is why we are all different.....
