Aww poor julius and you for that matter its pretty testing

one thing i found really worked for me was laying bubs on their stomach on my knees and gently rubbing their back it seemed to ease after a few minutes or otherwise standing up lay him in your arms with his belly along your forearm and just support is head against you chest if that makes sense, try that i hope it helps :)

I am sure there will be heaps of better advice but thats what helped me :) as a temp fix anyhow

Flip him over onto your lap (face down)and put pressure on his belly whilst rubbing his back. Infants friend is good too but a bit late to get that now. You could also lay him on his back then quickly bring him to sitting upright, this can help alleviate gas.
Sorry just trying to remember what I did with mine:cool:

oh poor Julius.
i would agree with punkbaby about laying him on his belly and rubbing his back. for lower wind, try "cycling" his legs and pushing them up to his belly when he's laying on his back, it should make him fart. its pretty funny, seems to help tho.
if it continues, you could try Infacol or the Brauers wind treatment.

hope he feels better soon :hugs:

To be honest, I wouldn't be dosing him up with colic meds just yet.

You said that your milk only came in yesterday? With that change, his tummy has to work differently to digest the milk than it did with just colostrum. You milk will also be flowing faster than the colostrum did, and that could be giving him the wind.

Try feeding him while you lay on your side - it will slow the flow of your milk down, and let him swallow instead of gulp (gulping means that they also swallow air at the same time). Learning to feed this way is also a great idea for those middle of the night feeds, because you can catch some zzzz's while he feeds.

My second ds had colic and the thing that helped us most was laying him on his side and lifting his arm up over his head and gently rubbing the side of his stomach, it calmed him when nothing else would. Other suggestions that we have tried are a warm heating pad on the tummy or a warm face washer on his tummy, a warm bath, ironing his bed before you put him down in it. We also used a Rhubarb and soda colic mix that the women's and childrens hospital here make and it did wonders too. We also tried gripe water, infants friend and a few other things too but ended up staying with the rhubarb and soda mix.

Oh thats no good! Roxy could be right:fingerscrossed:

Hopefully as your milk settles, so will he. Wished I'd known some of those other tips with mine when they had it. It's distressing to watch. Hope you have a good pram to push him around in too.

Thanks everyone, we did everything we could and he settled a little and fell asleep but was still very distressed.I tightly wraped him and he eventually went into a deeper sleep and he didnt wake up last night with colic just for feeds, Iam feeding him lying down now.He has been alot happier these last few hours he is very alert and relaxed again and just looks and 'talks' now.

Glad he's better, just wanted to say all 3 of mine did this when my milk came in & as I was still lounging around in hospital I'd hand the baby over & ask them to bring him back after 2-3 hours.Thier tummies are trying to keep up with the change in milk & mine were fine the next day.
Oh & congratulations , I looked at your photo on your other thread...very cute isn't he. Yoiu must be completely in love with him
