Hi Ladies,

Im currently using disposables, but times are tough and money is tight getting tighter every week, before my little one was born, we invested in Nature's Child Organice Cotton AIO's, the whole kit and kaboodle, and every single time we use them she wets through the whole nappy within an hour, so we are having to use pilchers.

I have a whole kit of them and about 10 Zappys, my brother has kindly offered to buy me some good ones.

Soooo what is everyone's advice? Im willing to struggle on with the ones I have through the day time, but use a good one when Im out and overnight.

A Bubhub Friend has told me GreenKids are awsome and I was going to rush out and get them while they are on sale?

What is everyone's advice?

Thanks Heaps,

Mel

Don't rush out and buy anything.

Buy a few different trial packs.

A greenkids trial pack, a baby beehinds trial pack, and a bumgenius pocket 3 pack should give you a good start while you work out what works well for you.

(personally I LOVE my bumgeniuses). I love my BabyBeehinds fitteds too, but if you don't want to worry about covers then a good pocket nappy that you can add extra boosting to is a good way to start.

ETA: I don't think you're located too far from me... if you wanted to come over one day and try out a few different sorts you're more than welcome  :D

I'm happy to give you a pea pods I've never used. (actually, used once).

I'll chuck in an insert to go with it too.
Just pm me your address.

You may be able to by some microfibre material from spotlight to make boosters , very cheap.
Dont put next to the babies skin.

Another solution is if you can sew or someone you know can you could buy 1m of Bamboo fleece and make some boosters to lay into the nappies you have. That might provide enough absorbency and stop the nappies you have leaking. Also a much cheaper solution that going out and buying another system.

Where are they leaking? Is it that they are a poor fit or is the wee wicking out the legs, front, back?

I love all MCN, pockets, fitteds and AIO's. They all have their place but personally i find that AIO are the least absorbent.

If you do want a change you could try swaping or selling off what you have to make some money available to try something new.

Hi Gretel,

Thanks heaps for your advice. Your not far from me. I cant afford to get a whole new collection so I have to stick to the ones I have through the daytime, which one would you suggest is best for a nighttime nappy and for a heavy wetter?

So I think a sample pack would be great, I was going to ask him just to buy me 5nappies in total, then I can use them for days out and at nights.

I only want my brother to spend a minimal amount because when our house sells I need to pay him back.

Baby BeeHinds Bamboos are very popular for night time. As are Good Night Sleep Tights and Very Baby Simply Nights.

I can't really help out in the nighttime department though... my boys are 2 and a half and Super Duper heavy wetters... so we're still struggling using BOTH a disposable AND a BabyBeeHinds bamboo at night.

But if you wanted to borrow a Baby Beehinds Bamboo to try out, I've got a few  And I think they have a pretty good package deal going at the moment. Google Baby BeeHinds.

Hi,

Sorry I didnt mean to ignore you both Little Toad and Mumma Bear, I didnt see your posts before I replied.

Little Toad - Thanks heaps, thats so nice of you. My friend told me to get microfibre from Kmart in the car section - what is it exactly? It would touch her skin in the nappies we have.

MummaBear - I cant sew:( Im hopeless and I dont know anyone that can. The nappies dont actually leak as such in any one place, the whole nappy just becomes soaked, inside out within 30mins of putting it on her, I dont understand how it goes through the booster and wets the WHOLE nappy, not just the front but the whole thing is soaked. When I bought them the girl told me they were simply the best thing and I knew no better....... I just wanted to use cloth nappies and found all the different types so confusing.... she was the first person I spoke to face to face and I believed her sell and bought the whole kit.

it dries out the skin, absorbs moisture really well though.

You could sew a layer of flannel ontop of one side.

Hmm, perhaps they are not a true AIO??? I am not familiar with them.

I 2nd the baby beehinds though. I have 6 and use them alot and love them! They are suposed to be a great night time nappy, we have not tried out yet because you need to wash them alot to reach max absorbency and we are only just there. You do need a cover with them though. Check out their website, they do have a trial pack.

Or put it inside a cotton sock

Hi Mel :)

You could still use the ones you have, but I'd try boosting them with something other than the original boosters (which I think are cotton or flannelette? Doesn't actually say on the website). By some hemp and or boosters/foldups and use inside. I think the Natures Child nappies are probably an alright nappy, but just need some extra absorbtion.

Hemp and bamboo are highly absorbent, much more so than any other fabric, especially cotton and flannelette.

Baby Beehinds are a fantastic night option aswell as for day. I've used these for the past 14 mths (since dd2 was 10 mths), day and night and I love them. During the day I usually use the hemp BB's (BBH) and night I use a boosted bamboo BB (BBB) with a wool cover.

Baby Beehinds have boosters as well, that you would be able to use in the Natures Child nappies. They would just lay in the nappy rather than velcro in like the original boosters.

Look at some microfleece/polarfleece to use as liners in the nappy over the boosters. This will help prevent nappy rash and also when you've got a pooey nappy to change. You can get the material from stores like Spotlight, wash it then cut to shape (either rectangle or hourglass). No need to hem as it doesn't fray. Very cheap material.

Hi again,

Thanks everyone for your advice, its awsome.

Gretel - would be great if I could borrow one of your Beehinds to try out, I just found their site, didnt see any specials though. We use Woolworths Select Nappies at night and they have never leaked, thats why I dont understand why our cloth ones do, one night I put like 2 boosters plus a dri-liner in them and they still leaked.

Little Toad - thanks again I might just get some microfibre material and put it in a sock like OJ suggested or try the flannel hmmmm might be a desaster though lol, I will PM you my address.

Gremily - thanks you for looking at the nappies and your advice, Yes I've looked on the site again too to see if I havent been treating the nappies right (but I have) and I think they are cotton boosters, definately going to take your advice and look into some hemp or bamboo boosters and some microfleece liners, my little one suffers from bad nappy rash at the best of times.

Thanks again everyone........ sounds like Baby Beehinds are a winner choice.

MelandChris - At the moment there is the Great Downunder Nappy Hunt. This is the sticky thread about it (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=103205)
If you have a look at some of the participating stores they have discounts during that time. You could perhaps register with the hunt (it's a lot of fun!) and buy some nappies at a discounted price. There are a few other stores that sell the BB's so I'd have a bit of a look around :)
