Thomas the Tank Engine's.
Each year for my boys birthdays I make a cake. For DS1 he had a ute filled with smarties for his 1st, then a dump truck with "dirt" for his 2nd, then lego blocks in the shape of a no3. DS2's first birthday I made a drum kit. Well it's DS2' 2nd birthday bbq tonight so today is cake making day. I spent 2 and a half hours this morning baking the cake and that doesn't include the cupcakes with Thomas decals on them. I've just spent and hour and a half assembling and doing the basic icing before I come back and pipe the rest. I had him all assembled and was rearranging the top shelf in the fridge so he could cool and go hard so I could do the next bit when I heard a "thud". I turned around to see the head part complete with smoke stack on the kitchen bench. It had fallen off the cake, off the platter and flipped and was on the bench. Worse part was I spent ages icing the face white so I could pipe on the face as well as having choc icing around the sides, and blue back further. All got mooshed into one another. I have minimal icing left too. :(
The only way I could figure to put him back together was to put a skewer thru him bum to hold the hold thing in place. I'll fake it and say the skewer is his tow point for hauling his carriages :o
He's in the fridge now and I hope it'll all stick 'cause I don't have time to start again. Wish me luck with covering everything and icing the rest.....
..... oooh did I mention I'm sick as a dog with the flu too! What a day! :crying:
