My son is 8 weeks old and i've noticed that this week he is crying for his bottles every 3hrs. He has been lasting 4hrs the last few weeks but now he wants them earlier. Could this be a growth spurt or maybe he isnt getting full enough on the formula. He is currently on NAN 1 Instant starter formula, someone told me that NAN Gold is a bit more filling. Any advice would be great!!:D

I would give it a week or so before changing his formula. I would be inclined to think he was growing and he may go back to 4 hourly bottles in a few days.

If he is hungry, feed him :D He will love you for it. Babies do not have an inbuilt clock...
My son did that around the 8 week mark, It sounds like a growth spurt to me!!

Thanx, that makes me feel more comfortable!!!:p
Hi there!
I would definately say that it's a growth spurt... I had the same with my lo and he settled down after a few days. You will start to see a pattern of growth spurts as they usually feed more often and the slow down again. If I remember correctly, I think that newborns go through them every few weeks in the first few months (you'll notice this by weight gains).
Hope this helps.

my little boy has hardley ever gone the 4 hours between feeds since he was born, he was put on formula at 3months old and he still feeds mainly every 3-3.5 hours sometimes he will only hold out till under 3 hours. He only has his recommended 5 bottles though or sometimes 6 just at funny times. Like someone said if he is hungry then i feed him :) he isnt over weight or anything like that so i wouldnt worry about keeping him to a 4 hour schedule bubs will tell you when he wants to be fed and there isnt anything wrong if its before 4 hours :D
Just a thought ... have you offerred him more milk at feeds ?? Jack is on 250ml a feed!!! and he is only 11 weeks .. I remember at about 8 weeks he jumped up to 200mls a feed (he is a hungry boy though- but he now lasts 4 hours again)
another thing to consider is the teat you are using... he might want more milk - but be too tired at the end of the feed... if you try out a slightly faster feed he might be able to eat more before being exhausted...
just two things that I was told to try out when Jack got grumpy at 2 months...
good luck :) hope he settles soon!

Thanx! i might try that!!:D
Hi,
My18 week old feeds (formula) every 3 hours and will only take between 130ml - 170ml (when he has a growth spurt he will take up to 200ml) I can't get him to hold out much longer than this but I think as long as its working for him its alright. He also has his last night feed at 8.00pm and doesn't want anything untill between 5am and 6am the next morning. I think every baby is different and you have to just go with what your baby needs at the time. As long as they are happy and putting on weight, that what counts.:D

It may be that he is going through a growth spurt and to keep him at those 4 hourly feeds you might need to give him a bit more formula.
