Does anyone have any good ways of dealing with sore cracked nipples In the first few days/weeks of BFing.

Lansinoh  Was a life saver for me. All good chemists sell it.
Also, express after feeding & let yourself air out. Don't put a top on. Sun in small doses is also good, just don't get burnt!! My midwife told me those ones & I still let them air & use lansinoh if I get sore.
Congrats by the way :hugs:
I know a lot of women recomend lanasoh (sp*) or somthing like that, I personally didnt use it I just used my own breast milk on the grazing & used a nipple sheild when it got too bad.
Hope it dosn't last too long for you.
Lots of airing out, and put the hind milk (the milk from the end of a feed) over the nipple. Make sure you change your breastpads often, otherwise the damp environment can breed thrush and not help the nipple heal. Also, just being vigilant in attaching bub properly, and if you need to take him off the breast, make sure you break the suction first, by putting your little finger in the corner of his mouth.
You can also take some panadol 30 mins before a feed - I know I had to do that a few times - it also helps with the afterbirth pains.
Perseverance is the key... just take it one day, one feed at a time. Before you know it, all the hard work will pay off and breastfeeding will be an absolute breeze :D

Is he attached properly?
If it hurts and you have cracked nipples, then I'm guessing he might not be attached properly.
As the others have said, breastmilk or lanisoh should help.

I used marcalan for my nipples Good Stuff:thumbsup:
He's adorable Neo
Yep i used marcalan as well. It was great.
As the other ladies have said, try to let yourself 'air dry' after a feed as that may help with grazing and cracks and will help to avoid things like thrush.
Also if it does get bad, try using nipple shields, that way you can still breastfeed and it may reduce some of the cracks and things that can happen to nipples during feeding.
Congratulations by the way, Julius is stunning

What they all said as well as constant reminding that the pain will end, breastfeeding won't always be painful and it will be sooo worth it! :hugs:
