View Full Version : First time Mum - yikes!
Hi everyone,
I'm 25, and 6 weeks pregnant to my wonderful partner, for the first time (!) so I'm here looking for help & advice.... it's all new and a bit scary but we are so happy about it!
I live near the ACT & would be glad to hear from other mums about their hospitals, obs, midwives and best shopping spots!
Bec.

Hi Bec!
Im also 25 and have a 17 month old little girl! We live in the ACT!
I had bubby at the Canberra Hospital (Woden), and found them to really good! The delivery rooms are great nice and big! They have a MASSIVE bath and encourage you to try different things throughout the labour! The midwifes were nice and helpfull! :)
Over all it was a great experience! :)
Calvary is also good, i have heard great things there awell! They have 4 to a room and the Canberra Hospital has 2 to a room! So there are more rooms at the Canberra Hospital!
Good luck throughout your pregnancy! Keep in touch!!!
Oh sorry i forgot the shopping tip!!!
I went to WOMBAT in Belconnen yesterday and they have a excellent selection of things! From sheets for the cot to prams, car seat's to maternity clothes! I loved it!!
There is also Mums and Bubs in Fyshwick!
I also love Pumpkin patch in Civic and Woden!!!
Have fun!!!

Hi and welcome.
I will be moving to ACT in 2wks so I can sure use some of the advice that no doubt will be posted.
Hope to see you round both on Bubhub and maybe at a future ACT catch up with other bubhubbers.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome - it's lovely to feel like I've found a place to ask all those curly questions!
Thanks for the shopping tip, Shan. I'm thinking it's going to be a bit of a struggle finding plus size maternity wear. I'll hunt for a thread like that here, then post one if I can't find one - I'm happy to buy over the net but I like to try Australian stores first!
6 weeks today....... very excited!

hey bec sorry i just read your last note, i'm a plus size to and found it really hard to get maternity clothes, but i found that chain reaction was good with there bigf advantage range, i dont know if you have one in the ACT though. another option is to check out ebay.
good luck (with the preg and shopping)
Thanks for the tip - there's a chain reaction in Wagga and I have to travel there for work quite a bit, so that's a good tip to have.
I looked on Ebay the other day and they had a grand total of 3 items for plus size maternity!
Oh well I've got quite a while before any baby bump has to be hidden, plenty of time to look around.
