From Tired*Mummy in July thread:
Hi everyone,
Tabby - I can completely relate to being housebound. We have 2 cars that we share but one car hasnt been going for quite a while & DH has it every day (except kinder days) for work & on kinder days i have to take him & pick him up. So annoying. Hopefully i will have the other car soon. Its being picked up by the mechanic this afternoon so hoepfully it wont be too long. Cant wait. We didnt really need the second car cos DH had a company vehicle but his company got rid of it a few months ago. If he gets this new job then he will have a company car again... that will be great!
Wild at Heart - Babies usally sit between 5-8mths. I think. DD1 sat up pretty early (about 5 1/2 months) & Sierra has just started sitting properly by herself. Dont be too worried, probably just needs to get more strength in the back muscles. My CHN told me if they cant sit by themselves at about 8 1/2 - 9 months then get them checked out. But all babies are different.
US - Well not too bad at the moment. DD1 has had a cold but it was expected after the other 2 had them. DD2 is still coughing really badly so going to get her checked out again on Friday. Sierra is really good. Eating & sleeping really well.
Have all of DH's family coming over tonight for dinner :hair: Its hard enough for me to have dinner on the table most nights with just us 5 but tonight i'll have another 5 adults & another 5 kids. Stressed a bit but i've managed to do it before so hopefully this time it goes ok. Speaking of which i better get my bum into gear & start organising dinner. Catch up later.

A quick one as my lunch break is almost finished.
Wild at Heart...your bub will start sitting when ready. Everyones bubs do things at different times. TJ has only started sitting by herself over the past week or so, whereas Kaite (Tabby) has been sitting by herself for a while.
Another cr@ppy night last night. DD1 was up once and TJ was unsettled most of the night.
Have just read in another thread that farax is easily digested, so might have to try bulking up TJ's dinner with pasta and see if this makes any difference.
DH appologised on the phone last night for the blow-up Monday night. Just wish he would give up talking to his (I don't like) 'single mid-30's, never had a relationship, male' friend. Things seem to go adrift when he chats to him.
Had better go,
Lisa

hi all
i am working from home today and its good to be able to see my little boy more often, also got up with him this morning, normally i leave by 6.50am, so don't always get to see him awake...
Geoffrey is at such a lovely age, full of smiles and laughs and genuine joy and delight at all the 'new' things he is discovering every day!!
mouse - sorry your night was so crappy, that's hard when you have to go to work, I know!
well better go and get back to it!! :)

Sitting up- Bridget can sit up by herself for a little while, maybe a couple of minutes but still easily looses her balance. Can this still be considered sitting up to record in the baby book??
tired*mummy
01-08-2007, 08:26 PM
Liviesmum - I would say so lol. I have put Sierra's in a about a week ago because she can sit up but sometimes looses it.
Had some exciting news today. My brother & his wife are expecting their first bub. Now i'll be an aunty to 7  It would be nice to have a nephew lol.. as i only have nieces.
They are over the moon about it as the dr's have told my SIL that there was only about a 20% chance she would ever get pregnant because she has had heaps of problems & if she wanted kids to do it asap because she would need a hysterectomy (sp?) probably by the time she is 25. She is 20 now. So her dr's put her on Clomid & first go she is pregnant. So they are extremely happy, as we all are too.

Yah for the crawling and the sitting bubs :), Well kinda Yah for the crawling TJ Actually on that meant to ask the experienced Mummies..what do you think about playpens? I work out the timber lengths in my mind (to make a big one)when doing the last feed each night..but somehow forget about never having any time!! Are they worthwhile, are they essential? Are they walking before you know it so are not useful??
EXCELLENT news Tired Mummy for your brother+wife WOW WOW WOW so lovely for all. You didn't say how dinner went, but I guess the news bombazzled even the bestest of dishes.
LiviesMum, great the m/s is getting 'better' and that Bridget is SITTING, I would say the length of time to take a photo.
Yep sorry to disappoint, I would also love another bub..one day,but really not with H's Dad!!
Yesterday I really would have had you all on the edge of your seats as I had the works, sore (.)(.)s, def harder to do up pants..and then spotting. Had myself convinced it was an implanation bleed.. but of course AF!!!!!!! YAH YAH YAH and must say 4wks exactly after introducing solids. SCARY.
Tabby hope the nausea is working itself out and you're going okay. Big bummer about wakeful Miss K!! This too will pass..I try to think that when its all too hard and I find I'm lying on the concrete floor and holding H's hands through the cot to keep him from stirring himself awake at 3am!
Jacstar so gorgeous yr're cherishing yr Geoffrey time and can work from home this day a wk. Also for MouseBrown, bummer about the wakeful (though gorgeous)girls! Also about arguing and making up when away with yr DH. Yes can see how a 30something relationship-less friend of his would be an issue..at least he's not female! Then you could really let rip!! :)
Am appreciating the flexibility of my work (today!) and went with others from our playgroup to Babes in Arms movie session to see H Potter!! Was pretty extreme, esp for H who never sees the tele!! But 40mins of wide eyedness then he wanted to play on his mat and roll (as he does now everywhere!) and then feed and then sit and play oh and then FALL ASLEEP! It was so loud, but I guess DARK. Anyhow was a fun outing for me, might not have been super educational for him..but a good balance :smiliedance:
Cordelia HUGS hope its going well, esp the longer awake-before-sleep trial and you're not trying (many) H Potter like spells on the ILs.

Well I decided to put the sitting in the baby book this morning, as Bridget is sitting well for the time she does sit.
Cheeki- My friend had twins 3 months ago and she is a little housebound too. She B/f both and just finds it such a mission to go anywhere with 2!! You are very lucky to have people to call on so you can go and do your stuff as she has noone really, apart from me- cant really keep away IYKWIM??
Charis:yelclap: for AF. When you cut down those feeds it dont take long for AF to return, trust me I KNOW!!
Tiredmummy- :smiliedance: for the new adition to the family. A new little neice or nephew, how exciting! How far are they, when are they due??
Us- had a lazy day yesterday, just hung out at home. Was feeling a bit yuck in the morn, came good then felt a bit yuck last night.
Bridget has slept all night so far this week after bringing back the wrapping, so that is the secret to peaceful nights in my house!
She is so funny, she is really taking notice of Olivia now. She laughs at her and is always interested in what she is doing. The other night they were playing and Olivia took a rattle off Bridget so Bridget started hitting Liv til she gave the toy back, lol!!!
Better go now, just had a friend call!

Hi all.
Got almost the usual sleep last night so feeling MUCH better YAY. Glad that didnt last longer than a few nights. Stirring from 330am but dummy in and slept till 5. Almost there where it was...
Cheeki: I dont think I am :( Just depo still playing with my body delaying af even though had one already. Not sure wtf those sore boobs were though!!! and the nausea must just have been a upset tum as alls well now. ah well back to bding heh not that DP minds. I think he likes this part, getting "more" again as I try not to make it just at ov time so doesnt feel hes a sperm donor
How awesome with the medal!! Way to go to make mummy proud!! Am hoping can do same with Katie, the boys arnt, sadly they are comp nerds lol.
Glad to hear the twins are doing so well.
Charis: Glad to see the baby movie went so well. lol at him sleeping through some. Must get my self to one soon, have been saying I will, but do need the car! Havnt got round to getting a stroller yet for the bus.
phew relief for AF and not implantation lol.
tiredmummy: big congrats for the upcoming niece/nephew!
mouse: Hope you got a better night.
jacstar: Glad things are working well with working from home, yep a wonderful age thats for sure!!
Dp has the car AGAIN :banghead:
Have tax return and my tax lump sum so few $ and he starts getting slack again, going have to hit that in the head soon..no not dp!! lol
Went out late arvo tho when he got home and went lounge hunting, got one!! black velvet 3 seater and 2 recliners LUSH YAY, have wanted them since preg.. furniture spot = awesome stock and prices. delivery next week as have them in stock, no waiting for it be made. Cant wait..will also paint the room..might have to have a Perth meet here soon to show off heh
got to go, miss is awake.
oh playpens; personally... I dont like them but in your case Charis I think you will definitely need one. You cant even use gates so with such a HUGE space and hard to keep a eye on when crawling I would say yes.
I plan on using the porta cot for times when I need do something, just sit her in that with some toys.
back later! xxx

Morning all,
Liviesmum - They only just found out yesterday so the dr thinks around 5 weeks going by dates. Due 2nd of April but she didnt even realise she was a week late for AF cos she hasnt been having the regularly. She had some blood tests a few weeks ago & the dr said it was good cos she had started ovulating again (she hadnt been for some time) & then he said you should have had a period & she said that she hadnt so he did a blood test & it was postitive. So they are very happy.
Charis - Dinner went ok lol. Didnt tell DH family about my brother, they dont really care unless its one of there side of the family but anyway it was quite loud with all the kids running around. Sierra cracked it because of the noise but eventually calmed down. The girls bedroom was completely trashed by the end of the night but it always gets like that when their cousins are over. It wasnt too bad though. It was nice to have a bit of adult company & convo for a change
Have a great day all

Morning
Tabby, been years since I was on depo but it did always used to make me nauseous and give me the sore boobs. I'd tell the doc and he'd always ask if I could be pregnant which at the time was no because DH was overseas. Can't remember how long it lasted once I came off it.
So did my sleep advice work again or was it a one night fluke Cordelia?! If it worked, just start referring to me as the baby whisperer LOL. Now if only my ideas worked as well with Cameron! Can't really complain, haven't had to use the pram to help him to sleep for ages & last night he was in bed at 8, resettle at 11.30, feed at 2 then up at 6. One of the best nighs in ages. Was actually really hard to get up this morning though, probably the first time in a while I've had that deep a sleep.
All the night time waking, BF and looking after DH have resulted in most of my wardrobe being too big for me. Even my skinny jeans which I hadn't worn for a couple of years except the 2nd month pg with C are a bit loose. I know I shouldn't complain but feel so frumpy going out with saggy bottom pants. Suppose I'll have to do some shopping (but not too much because I expect it's temporary!).
Should get back to doing our tax. Dreading the final figure. Sold our investment unit in Maylands (settled the day C was born) to help cover mortgage on our old home in Cloverdale while I'm a SAHM. We bought when you could still get a bargain in Perth but as the Perth ladies know property there has skyrocketed so a nice gain for us but a not so nice tax bill.
Charis, glad u got the result that won't complicate your relationship with H's dad any further. Still no AF here although for months I've been getting the odd niggle and skin breakouts to make me think it's on it's way but nothing. I think it's C's master plan to keep the night feeds up as long as possible to keep AF and away and prevent any competing siblings.
Have thought about going to the screamer session at the movies. They are on here on Wed mornings 10am but that's usually still morning nap time.
hi all!
Things have been a bit hectic around here, hence the lack of posting, but I have been reading.
tabby ... no news yet huh?
cheeki ... the movies sounds challenging, but at least you gave it a go and maybe next time it will be fine! I thought of you when my mum babysat my ds and my nephew (both 6 months old) for a couple of hours the other day. She was SO glad when I got home.
liviesmum ... glad you're doing ok.
charis ... josh is rolling everywhere and I think a playpen would be a good idea now. We've made do by taking lots of stuff out of the lounge room, but it won't be long til he's pulling cloths off tables, books off shelves, etc. I still can't decide exactly what size/shape I want for the playpen so I'm hoping to delay the decision a week or two. Once he's crawling I will definitely need it.
tiredmummy ... :smiliedance: about your SIL getting pregnant - that's great news! If she was on clomid there's always the chance of a multiple pregnancy too!
mousebrown ... farex gives josh tummy pain and actually makes him wake up multiple times overnight - definitely the opposite of what I wanted and so it may not work for you either. I was reading the 'mother & baby' magazine the other day and a woman had written in to say her 4 month old was waking twice a night and the advice was that it was normal, but by 6 - 7 months, once solids were introduced, babies will sleep through the night. What rubbish! In fact all the books I've read said that babies who sleep through the night can start waking again at about 8 months. That's what my niece did. Josh still wakes at least once a night, if not 3 times.
charis ... :smiliedance: for AF!
us ... well, yesterday was filled with blessings in disguise. Very good disguises. We were having some minor (well, so I thought) excavation work done alongside our house. We just wanted the ground level lowered a bit and gently sloped to allow more airflow under the house. Well, the guy that did it didn't seem to care about our house and applicances next to the house. He severely damaged the metal case of the hot water service, he damaged the gas pipe to our heater, he ran into the central heating unit, he bashed into the weatherboards in 3 places quite severely and most shockingly he ran over the gas meter! Yep, he damaged the gas meter and completely disconnected our gas. So, no hot water, heating or gas stove top.
I called his boss and he was here within half an hour and he was furious. He'd never seen his worker do such bad work. So, we got the job done for free, the repairs to the heater and the house will be done in coming days, and he'll even buy some crushed rock and put it down on the path for us for free. He also paid for the plumber (who we organised) and the gas company who had to do some serious repair work.
So, it wasn't quite the way I would have liked it, but we got it done, we'll get some crushed rock, we got to use the extra space in the skip to put in all our rubbish that we were going to put in a skip 'one day' and it cost us nothing. Of course, that's in retrospect. My poor dh was so upset when he saw the damage that I didn't know what to do. He was threatening to call A Current Affair, etc, etc, and would not speak to the tradesmen he was so mad. My dh is usually very calm, so it was out of character for him. By the end of the day he was a lot better.
Better go, Josh has his 6 month checkup this morning and I have a few things to do before that.

Hi everyone
Cheeki - yaaay for the sports medals. How exciting is that!!! G and I have been going over the road to the oval and watching the sports carnivals. Its heartbreaking seeing those little ones that come last by miles! Its also funny thinking about what our little babies will be good at and not good at when they are bigger. Can't wait to find out!
Charis - I'm like Tabby, not a fan of play pens. Having said that - I am a first time mum and I live in a tiny little terrace - so what would I know!
Liviesmum - I would definately count that as sitting.
Mouse - wow for the crawling!!!
Us - we had our first sleep through!!!! Since putting G on the bottle - I have noticed that her solids intake had dramatically reduced, so I cut a bottle during the day out yesterday - she ate up all her veges etc, went to bed at 6.30 woke at about 10 for a feed and then that was that! Not counting my chickens yet though - as tonight she will probably be a shocker!!!

Mim: nope nothing yet. Like Cat has mentioned, think the depo is still hanging around ( can take months to wear off ) so into the back of my mind it goes..for now. Will wait it out, not much else can do, spewing I wasted the clomid though. not cheap!!
Awesome news, all that work for free and a bonus.
Heh like it when that happens, distressing as it is to start but the ending is sweet.
Cat: yep I think you hit it perfectly regards depo. Would explain a lot.
Thanks for that.
Im near Cloverdale, only one suburb away.
Will you move back one day?
Elle: grats on the sleep , lets hope it continues!!
back to breaky, Katie has had weetbix and now toast and for the first time there is NONE on the floor, heh shes certainly enjoying it this morning
http://picasaweb.google.com/Kaitlyn2006/KatieAndFamily/photo#5093899547656157874
BY the way: ITS TOO BLOOMING COLD THIS MORNING...Least its stopped raining for a bit and there is sunshine.
Can't believe it's August!
Tabby I keep thinking about giving Audrey weetbix...do you just use the normal ones or the kids ones?
She's started to get really fussy with vegetables...but I think she doesn't like them hot...today i gave it to her cold straight out of the fridge and she loved it. Weird little creature?????
Cheeki I keep considering the babes in arms session but Aud is just so awake now...she really only sleeps for 45mins max..... I guess it doesn't matter if she is awake - the screen would keep her occupied!
I wish some of my bro or sis would have some kids. My sil has 2 girls but they are 4 and 5..... my bro will probably start soon he's 31 and wife is 32....but she's a midwife so maybe that puts them off!!!
Aud has been sitting for awhile and when on her belly has started reversing.....she gets a long way before she runs into something. She's also been pulling up onto her knees so I don't think crawling will be too far away....argh!!! I just look around at all the things I'll need to move!
We are off on our big adventure to sydney on saturday. We're driving down the coast and stopping at Yamba and then Port Macquarie...we hope to do a few touristy things. I am just going crazy trying to think of everything to pack. We've borrowed a portacot (Thanks lukeandmattsmum!) so we don't have to worry about booking a cot a motels but there is just so many bits and pieces....I used to be a throw a few things in a bag girl!!!! What happened!
I guess we should be right, we are just hoping that Aud will sleep now her carseat is turned around. She sits up in that seat like she is the queen of the universe!!! Sticky beaking at everything that goes past!
Hope everyone is well!
Ellembee

She sits up in that seat like she is the queen of the universe!!!
That describes exactly the look on G's face when she was in a fwd facing car seat for the first time on the weekend. She really did think she was the ants pants! How funny!!!!
Tabby

Cate: I just use regular weetbix. Didnt even know there was a kids one.

Charis...we've got a playpen, bought it for DD1. Only used it outside when she was tiny to keep the dog away. Since then it's been used around the Christmas tree and around the heater to keep little fingers away. If you'e got a port-a-cot, I'd use it instead. Some kids learn to move the playpen as they start to crawl/walk.
Another cr@ppy night here. TJ didn't settle until midnight, but then slept to 6.
Thanks for the farax notes Mim. Have pre-cooked some pasta ready to mix with veges for dinner tonight. :fingerscrossed: it does the trick.
Got to go,
Lisa

Hi everyone,
Cat your advice worked last night but was up from 11 until 3 night before... Caitlin was probably disrupted due to in-laws. I put her on the floor in our bedroom because I didn't want them waking her up but I think our snoring kept her awake! So last night stuck her in her own room and let in-laws use our ensuite bathroom.
I went out today and left them to it. Came out of bedroom at 8:50 all dressed and left at 9:00 and said "have a nice day" :) Came home and they're still not here...... ;)
Are there kids weetbix??
mim - what an absolute disaster. I'm glad the boss is onto it... have you lost yoru hot water or anything?
DH's 30th was last night. I was so stuffed from the night before and I just get so infuriated at the way his family just sits around.... I was expecting people and they sat in the lounge and watched TV the whole time. FOR GOODNESS SAKE.... I asked her to get the cutlery ready.... and then that was it. Afterwards, who was left to clean everything up?? Luckily my Mum was there and told me to go to bed while she took over.
I just heard a car door.. better go.
cordelia ... we didn't have heating, hot water or the stove for about 6 hours yesterday afternoon, but it was all working again by 6:30pm, just in time for our dinner guest to arrive. The path is almost done now.
I saw the CHN today and Josh weighs 8.945kg! He's now above the 75th percentile! He's 69cm long and his head measures 43.5cm. Overall, he's doing really well. She suggested I try porridge given that farex wasn't great, so he had a little bit this afternoon. I think more ended up on his face and hands than in his mouth, but we tried!
I've finally organised myself and put some photos of Josh on the 'net - http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q56/mim1_photos/Joshua%20-%20July%2007/ I hope you enjoy them - they are only from the last month.

Hi everyone,
I have been reading but not posting so know that you have all been in my thoughts. I must admit I'm relying on you ladies to remind me what I should be doing with M, easy to follow your many wonderful and varied leads as M was born at the end of Jan!
Tabby, Reading about the depo I realise my BF had most of the same symptoms as you when coming off it and even used to lactate years after having all her kids. It stuffed up her hormones so much she cannot risk any kind of hormone based contraception so her DH had the snip!
Regards to weet-bix, I have to buy the kids pack so we can have the wiggles stickers enclosed, they may be richer in iron??? 50c more expensive but B eats 2 a day with a banana.
Mim, I said it in the pic thread but will repeat here what a gorgeous young man Josh is, especially when dressed up!
Cordelia, hope your outlaws are ok, I am ready to murder my FIL - DH is trying hard to land a new contract and if he stuffs it up for us there will be trouble! Basically if DH doesn't start at this big worksite we cannot afford to live in Sydney in the Financial hole we have dug ourselves into through a quiet period at the beginning of the year. I would be forced to move in with my Mum's up the central Coast and DH would have to stay on the lounge at his parents during the week to go to work with his Dad. See how seriously they take it when their precious grandsons aren't 2kms away but 120kms!
Ooohhh! Sorry for th rant, but the S*O*B* was telling DH to refuse the contract over 40c a metre and we are talking about a year of continual work - maybe more!
Mouse, Hope the pasta works and TJ sleeps tonight!
Us, Flat out getting policies and statements ready for the new big worksite that could be our saviour! M is getting over conjunctivitis but has picked up a cold and cough. He has started solids, rice cereal and yoghurt so far, loves playing with the spoon! Some goes in and stays there I think LOL. Have also been weaning :crying: in case I pick up some work, so now I BF morning and night and FF during the day, M like s the formula for about the 1st 150-180mls then he like spraying it everywhere!
Ellembee, how did your weaning go? I'm enjoying every morning and evening cuddle while I can.

What a lovely place this is :) And some great giggles tonight on here..Cat13 for the nightfeeds some ploy by Cameron to reduce the likiehood of competing siblings!! he he!! Oh and Lily rolling in secret and Cheeki28 sounding so full of beans and YAH YAH YAH about DD sport medals! And only at the end saying you were aching all over and had the flu! Hope you're having a recuperative sleep now.
Ok so it wasn't all funny at all.. hmm and Mim1 what a calamity of services that turned out well!! AMazing. Cordelia tell us what the ILs did with Caitlin today. Yah for your time off. Yes house guests certainly can just assume you're completely normally taking everything in yr stride (after feeding/cleaning/cooking/washing/cooking/bathing/cleaning all day!) great your Mum was there to help you out.
SammyG I really hope you all land the job! It sounds like a great way to complete the year and more. Big jobs are great!!
Ellembee congrats on the sleep through for G. I hope you get a repeat!!
Tabby arh, well another month just having Katie (and the big boys) to cherish. She looks so great and also just like you! Do people say that all the time?
Mousebrown, I hope yr work Friday is a better day and you get some restful nights on the weekend. Thanks for the playpen thoughts and esp for this place. I think I will make one, yep I know I said yesterday, in my spare time ..but a big one,as too mean to put a little one in here! I guess no matter how big it is, if it doesn't encapsulate enough bookshelves/cars/bikes/power cords..it will feel like he's stuck in there. oh well.
H spent some time this arvo with his Nana as he does twice a week each week..and I was in a meeting today and he cried and cried she said and I saw the end of :( No idea if it was missing 'Mummy' as has never happened before. Poor bub + poor Nana!!!
Well best do some work. Night night and sleeping vibes to all. Oh yep and each morning is a bit of a surprise still, I think it is to all of us!?? :)
Tabby

Charis : Sounds like a great idea to make your own, as you say it will be much bigger. Yep I think its a awesome idea!!
and yes your very right re: more time with the rest of family for me :hugs:
It might be H missing you, that age yaknow..Katie has started screaming ( yes screaming) when I leave the room :banghead:
He will get over it though. I imagine Ill have a hard time soon with K, dont get away enough so when I do it will be wwii.
People say she looks like ds2 Charis, so I suppose that would be yes seeing different dads they must take after my side, ill have to check baby pics later and ill up some and see
Sammy: Hope your dh lands that job! :fingerscrossed:. Thanks for the info depo. Have also decided after next that will get tubes tied rather than depo as that will be it for me for sure!.
DP way too young to get the snip! Yes hes my toy boy lol. Not sure if I even mentioned that before??
Im always teasing him how almost time to trade him in as hes 3 yrs older now hahha
Mouse: Hope the change in dinner helped
Cordelia: I had that same "family" experience a few weeks back. ill be stuffed if im doing it again, they all sat in the lounge room while I cleaned up (dp,dp's brother and his gf) to me its the ultimate of rude to not even offer. I was infuriated to say the least and dp got the brunt of it after they left. His family, his job to ask them or get up him self...ah well wont happen again.
****ty night. Katie didnt sleep at all yesterday arvo so was up from 130pm till bed at 530pm,(hr . hr and half early ) awake at 130am ..up down up down up down..for 2 hrs so grabbed her and changed bum and headed to the couch. awake at 530..what the???
Needless to say I am the grump this morning lol
oh and speaking of that. As a child / teen I was such a grump in the morning that no-one would speak to me for about a hr for fear of getting their head taken off.. most naps Katies not a happy camper when waking for about the first 15 minutes as shes woken up short. Dp says shes like me lol
Cant work out why she sleeps so lightly!!! The day naps are always woken with some noise..dog bark..ds2 laughing from in his room...etc

Morning everyone
Tabby - :hugs: for the crappy nights you've been having. Hope it improves for you soon.
Cordelia - It is always the same for me when DH family comes to our house for dinner. They all sit around the dining table talking while i clean up & try to stop the kids from completely trashing the place. DH just sits there too which is annoying. But when we have dinner at one of their places its always 'who's going to help me clean up' whether it be MIL, SIL or other SIL saying it. But then they never offer to help me & they say its because i'm the one with the dishwasher. Even so its still quite rude i think.
Playpens - I never had one with DD1 & 2. With DD1 i just used a porta cot & found it to be really good for when she started crawling. If i had to do something like cook dinner or vacuum or have a quick shower i could and knew that she was safe & couldnt get into anything. We got rid of our porta cot just before i got pregnant with Sierra so i think i might get another one as Sierra is starting to roll into everything, She got her arm stuck under the TV cabinet this morning lol.
Solids - Sierra is eating alot. Loves her food. Am still mixing the rice cereal with pumpkin & she LOVES it & i think it satisfies her for longer cos the rice cereal makes it alot thicker. Has anyone started giving juice yet? I gave Sierra some pear juice cos i thought the apple or the apple blackcurrant might be a little bit more sour/acidic for her but she doesnt like the pear juice lol.
Sleep - Sleep here is pretty good at the moment... Sierra is having 2, 2hr sleeps in the day & then going down inbetween 7-8pm & sleeping until 7-8am.
No big plans for the weekend yet. Going to see my dads new house that has just been finished, we are starting to research & look around at houses to buy/build so it might give me a few ideas.
Hope you all have a great weekend & lots of sleep vibes to all that need them.

tabby- still no AF from me- had spotting last week. have been off depo since 7 june (well that's when I was supposed to get another needle).
Feel v nauseous but test was negative.
Started to follow Save Our Sleep Routines which were similar to what we have been doing but the 7pm bed time and 7am wake up. The prob has been that Alex has been waking during night, prob once, twice or three times then sleeping in til almost 9am which put his whole day out. Wish us luck!!

Hi everyone - just a quick one
Sammy - I get terrible bouts of sadness when I think about having weaned G. It really was so special - even in the middle of the night!!! I also get jealous when I see her tenderly fondling DH's face when he feeds her (how mean am I!). But having said that, I was just getting so tired b/f and now that I have weaned she has slept through. Yes - we had a repeat sleep through!!!!

Another cr@ppy night. Even with a tummy full of pasta and veges:hair: . TJ's got a bit of a yucky nose at the moment. Last night the wakes seem to be caused by coughing (which I think is an improvement from the previous few night of just being unsettled). Tonight I'll give her a dose of decongestant before bed and see if this helps.
I'm off to the Perth dinner meet tonight, so hopefully won't fall asleep in my dinner.
I've read everyone's posts, but can't remember a thing to comment on, so sorry, no personals.
DD1 and I are off to Landsdale Farm tomorrow for a 4th birthday party. Extreemly thankful the weather has cleared.
Have a good weekend,

hi everyone, well we made the move to germany. it was a nightmare flight and we lost the pram. but we are finally here.
clea is good. she is a terrible sleeper as well. day sleeps... what are they? it stays light here until about 9.30pm so she never goes to bed before 10pm. and she is so active! crawling, standing, walking along furniture and yesterday she started climbing! we are not prepared and the floors in this flat are really hard so i cant let her run wild yet.
with all of this activity i am getting a playpen. at the moment we have her on a double mattress (a fold out lounge) with the lounge arm pillows acting as barriers, but she can already climb them. so next week we are setting up a big playpen , the wooden ones tht you can arrange in any shape, i figure we can use it until she is climbing over it, it can also be taken apart and used as gates. not sure what to do for the floor... thought about those foam tile/puzzles.
glad to hear everyone is good, and i know this is horrible, but good to hear about lots of non-sleeping babies. i was at my wits end this week, but now she seems normal for her age.
eating a few solids. but during the day clea just doesnt seem to want to eat. i am thinking about one lunchtime formula feed, she has never had formula. but she wont bf in public as she is too distracted, and she doesnt eat enough solids to consider it a meal. i know she gets hungry during the day, usually results in crying, refusing booby, crying then finally when i am exhausted and she is exhausted she will feedd in public. any advice, experience, thoughts on giving her 1 ff a day? i dont want to stop bf.

Hi all,
Lots of posts since my last visit... !!
Chloe started crawling last week. Not pro at it yet, but gets up on all 4 and moves forward then goes onto her belly, then back up and does it again. At first she was going backwards, so Cate I'm sure it won't be long before ur littlie is going forwards!
Ellembee: Wow!!!!! Congrats on 2 sleep throughs, I am totally envious, lol! What is your trick?????
Charis: Not familiar with the situation with your partner, but am glad for the AF since you don't want another one with him!
Mim: OMG, I totally feel you on the house damage thing. YOur poor thing! We've had AVJennings building 2 houses next to us, and our 2nd driveway is right next to that property. So we have had all kinds of builders in our yard, they backed their concrete truck right back up to our house (about 20m from the street!!) and tore one of our very large trees in half because it was in the way of their concrete truck (without permission to be on our property of course), plus all the workmen using our water during level 5 water restrictions here, again no permission to be on the property, plus a ton of other stuff, parking in our driveway etc. Not the same since you had hired the guy to do the work, but I understand how mad it can make you......... :hair: But am glad that the boss came to the party to fix everything.
Cordelia: What a horrible IL situation... Luckily DH's family are in the US so I don't have that problem here... But, some of my own family are just as bad, trust me!! lol...
SammyG: I too have been trying to get Chloe onto the bottle for a few feeds, but she is not really taking to it. The most she has taken so far at one time is 80mL!! Lots of wasted formula so far...
Tabby: Grr Light SLeepers!!! I was having EXACTLY the same problem with Chloe until recently. We had a sleep nurse come out to the house for half the day to show us how to teach her to put herself back to sleep. Since then it has gotten better and better. On day 3 she slept 1hr in the mornign and 2hrs at lunch... Not every day is perfect, but she now sleeps through dogs barking, building noise, vacuuming etc. I cannot even believe it has worked because I thought there was no hope for us. It was 30mins max before that... I totally sympathise, and I really hope it improves soon for you!! :hugs:
Dragonflyblu: Wow, congrats on making it! What a huge move, I admire you for it, I don't think I could manage something like that right now!
Update on Chloe: Thanks for your well wishes and advice. Yes, 4 weeks is a long time. I did forget to mention that she's had 3 colds/illnesses which have def contributed, so it's not completely unfounded. She doesn't still have a cold but temp is still up. Her tests came back clear so hoping she is just still getting rid of the last bug. If it hasn't normalised in the next week or so we will def be seeking a 2nd opinion/ paed appt.
Also got her shots today (few weeks late), and she was actually pretty good, didn't cry too much, but temp has gone up more (more panadol), and she had a loooong sleep when we got home. Got some housework done so it was good, lol. Yay for clean carpet! :smiliedance:
Once again, a huge novel, sorry guys!!
Hope you all have a great weekend, we're off to see my grandmother in Kingscliff on Sunday, hope the weather is nice, it's lovely down there.

she is exhausted she will feed in public. any advice, experience, thoughts on giving her 1 ff a day? i dont want to stop bf.
Hi Dragonfly - how exciting that you have made it over there and you are settling in. Re ff - I weaned G slowly - so replaced one feed with formula bottle every 1 to 2 weeks. She was fine with it. Though I know that not all babies take both the breast and formula. Its worth giving it a go though.

Korah: That was me with the teething... Have PM'd you re the gel you mentioned...
Alys.
dragonfly blu ... if bf'ing in public causes distraction formula feeding in public will probably be the same. You could try though. Adding one formula feed per day shouldn't affect your supply, don't worry.
solids are driving me nuts! Josh can't have farex or the heinz apple cereal cause they make him scream from tummy pain. Now, we've added porridge to that list. He only had one teaspoon yesterday and last evening he was awake for nearly 4 hours straight (a record) and grizzly. Then he woke up screaming multiple times overnight. Not his normal screaming, absolute hysterical screaming and not really awake. Breast feeding stopped him both times, and he fell asleep whilst feeding (which is REALLY rare). I've read that reflux can be made worse by some cereals and obviously that's Josh. At least he's taking his zantac at the moment. So, Josh can have pumpkin, potato, carrot, fruit salad gel and that's about it. So, I'm focusing on texture and how to manage a spoon and one day in the next month maybe he'll tolerate other foods better .... :(

Mim, now you have me wondering. Cameron has been the same of late waking up at night with hysterical screaming that he cannot be soothed from and I really don't think he is actually awake either. The screaming continues throughout a nappy change and has DH coming to join us to investigate what's wrong because it is such a desperate cry. Then I pop him on for a feed and SILENCE. Not sure what this means - could C possibly have reflux too (I've at times suspected silent reflux) or is Josh's night waking/screaming possibly not reflux and this wakefulness & screaming our boys are exhibiting is just a variation of normal developmental stage? As usual more questions than answers
C's ezcema is another area where we have more Q's than A's. Thought it was getting better but now worse than ever. It's silly but in public I feel like people must notice and think I'm not looking after him properly or else that he has some contagious disease they need to stay away from. It's even on his eyelids and below his eyes poor little mite and nothing seems to help. What if what we are using is making it worse? What if it could be fixed by stopping BF (as many people tell me to do)? What if stopping the treatments & BF would make it worse? What if it's something I'm eating? What if there's absolutely nothing we can do except try & minimise the discomfort :banghead:
And then there's C's op on Monday. Not looking forward to it but feel a bit better after calling the hospital to discuss sleeping/feeding arrangements etc. There'll be a bed for me, cot for him. My meals will be provided and they will make up food on request for C or I can bring my own & store in the fridge.
Sigh..what a negative :ecomcity: :ecomcity: post. I just hate seeing my little man so red & blotchy & itchy & screams when we try and stop him scratching (which he usually only does when he's tired luckily). And then we are letting him get cut open. Not fair but I know there are many more serious problems we could be facing so just have to deal with it and give him all our love.

Lots of lots of hugs from us all for Cameron and you Cat13 for Monday+ op. He will be so consoled with his Mummy there!! As for the ezcema ???? I use that paw-paw cream..just pawpaw in the red jar, is a skin 'fix it' for everything. Lucas Papaw Ointment, comes from QLD too!, ok reading it: boils, burns, chaffing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites and nappy rash. Oh ok so not ezcema, but its great stuff for all the above and may work??
The late night screams for poor bubs with tummy aches?? Sounds v heartrending  Thirsty (for water) is a possibility to? But BF would certainly do all the soothing for them and us that is so necessary after a hysterical cry. Poor bubs!! I hope they both don't do it tonight :fingerscrossed:
Like TJ, Hunter has been waking up 3-4am coughing. Or was it 4-5am?? Lol. But same time each night for last few anyway. I gave up settling last night (after an hr! where he was crying and grissling with his eyes closed) and took him to my bed :) Hope all are without coughs tonight!
DragonFlyblu so great to hear about you and the climbing Clea!! How do Germans pronouce it?? I guess you've tried the muslin sheet over her head in public feeds?? I don't but have a friend who does. I know its summer there, but I sometimes do pull H's hat over his ears for public feeds too ?? Tell us about great German baby stuff!! :) And how is it there with a lovely little bub?? Do others stop and talk? Do you speak German? How is yr DPs job going??
And MummysGirl congratulations to the crawling Chloe!!!! I didn't answer it ages ago, but H eats Holle organic baby oats, reasonably edible.. but now mix it with 1xapple puree and 1xyoghurt so its more mush than porridge. He and I had avocado on toast for tea.. oops naughty Mummy! Should cook proper tea! He sucked bits of the toast..is that what Katie does, or does she actually eat it??
Oh and tell us the gist of the Sleep Nurse!?? Sounds great! Also hope Chloe keeps getting better and the shots don't affect her. H still has a leg lump from last Friday?? That seems too long.
Tired Mummy, so great to hear about perfect sleeps for Sierra, great!! And some WELL Deserved SLEEPS for you after the last few months.
Well. RPH (Rolly Poly Hunter) is so v cute (at the mo!)and giggles and giggles at things all day, so lovely. The best was him giggling at the cat today when H was being fed..the cat looked even more aghast! Night night all!

Cat: will be thinking of yous come Monday (insert a hug because the icons arnt working for me grrrr) yep you could try the cream Charis suggested but just on a small patch to see?? hopefully you find something soon to ease his discomfort.
Charis: Katie sucks it yes but also eats it, breaks bits off once softened, the last bit usually ends up a horrible mush in her palm by the end while she tries to figure out how to get that bit in her mouth lol.
Mim: Could you try giving baby yogurt maybe? Might be gentler on his tum. not so heavy? That and also milk arrowroot biscuits mixed with milk. Hope you find a few things that dont upset his tum so much. poor love.
mummysgirl: Is there anything you can tell that helps the light sleep? Now that we are having bad nights its affecting us, was ok while she slept beautifully nights but not so now.
Mouse: Hope you had a lovely dinner out without nodding off!! Hopefully was just the cough waking her and youll get the sleep soon.
wild at heart. All the best ttc!! Still nothing here either lol. How annoying is that!?! very frustrating.
sorry if missed anything else I did read but yaknow...need the coffee to kick in lol
argh Katie has learned to scream!!!!!!!!!!! and boy does she know when to use it lol attention MUM!! pick me up Mum!! Im poo bum Mum!! lol least I know when somethings up and not wonder. I was up almost every hr with her. Shes asleep but moaning / groaning/ grizzling WHAT THE ???? in the end I left her a few times and she resettled without too much hassle. Why now?? at 7.half months?
soooooooooooo tired and have to go shopping in a few hrs. Got a trolley mate for Katie which am dying to use though. heh must say its a very bright pink lol. oh and Mil finally found a bath seat in stock bigW YAY been hunting for 2 months, the one which they actually sit in, ill up a pic of last nights bath well hope you all got better sleeps xxx I would post a hug BUT THEY WONT LET ME CLICK ON THEM !!! Tabby - Katie is so gorgeous.
Had good sleeps here again last night. Went down after dinner with her bottle at 8:30pm & woke at 9am this morning. She had her needles last night at the drs so her dinner was a couple of hours later than usually but she still slept well. Might try putting down at 8-8:30 all the time so she sleeps til abit later than usual lol.
Not much happening here today or tomorrow. DH is at work this morning & my sis & my niece are coming over to come to my dads new house with me. Other than that it will just be another usual weekend with DH watching or at the footy & me tending to the kids.
Have a great weekend

Cat - am thinking of you. have no words of wisdom about the itchiness. Poor little mite. Guess you have done the dermatologist thing?
Mim - G doesn't like cereal - so we are just on fruit, veges and yogurt here.
Us - After 2 sleep throughs - she woke up every hour from when I put her down to 3.30am. Knew I shouldn't have been bragging about the sleep throughs!

Firstly I have a website to share that a few of you might find useful: it's all about food additives, natural and, well I guess "un-natural".... My grandmother actually told me about it and after eating a packet of "natural" lollies and getting a MASSIVE migraine, I decided to look into it further. It is really very interesting and very appropriate since we are all starting with food for our bubs now... I pretty much thought it was a bit of "hippy" stuff, but after having the reaction myself am now a definite believer. Some of the things they are still allowed to put in our foods here are banned in many countries because they are believed to cause cancer, asthma, and eczema. So it's worth a read if nothing else...
http://www.additivealert.com.au/
you can search the numbers on there too and see what it says about them. (of course a lot of them are totally fine, but the ones in the "natural" lollies I had certainly weren't!!!)
Mim: Sorry to hear about the feeding troubles! How awful for u. Poor thing not being able to eat much...
Cat13: Firstly hope the op goes well and is as less stressful as it can be... YOu have been trying soo long to find something for DS eczema, I hope you find something soon!!
Charis: Chloe's temp went up again, 38.5 this morning, gave more panadol and went down to 37.6... She still has the lump from her LAST shots that she had the really bad reaction from. Don't think they're supposed to last that long, lol...
The crawling thing all happened very quickly, one day she wasn't getting anywhere, the next day she was up, and the next day moving! She's also pulling herself to standing any chance she gets, and loves to stand there looking around thinking she's so clever, lol!! It's really cute, makes me laugh all the time. :D
This next part will be long, so for people not interested in teh sleep lady just skip to next post now! :p
The lady came over in the morning, and went home after lunch... I was having to put Chloe to sleep by bouncing or rocking, every time, and then any tiny noise would wake her... It was so frustrating. The idea is, that even if they wake, they will go back to sleep because they have "learned" how to fall asleep themselves... But, in my experience, once CHloe is asleep now, she is ASLEEP, not dozing like before. Sometimes she does wake, but after a couple of minutes of whinging is asleep again.
Anyway the lady basically put Chloe in her cot when she was showing tired signs (which I was already familiar with, and had been using to know when to put her to sleep) and then we sat by the cot to see what would happen. (Btw, Chloe has not ever been able to be put in her cot awake to sleep before this). She whinged for a few minutes, then started crying, when she starting crying the lady soothed her, patting, shh'ing (but without making eye contact or engaging her behaviour) and when she settled down, she stopped the soothing. THis went on for 15 mins (on and off) the first time, 10 mins the second nap. And she was asleep. She didn't cry very hard at all, just was angry that we weren't giving her the attention she wanted (because she'd rather play with us than go to sleep). The idea is that you stop the soothing when they go quiet, so that they can learn to fall asleep on their own, without any help.
The guide is 1hr in the morning, 1.5 early afternoon. So, if they wake before one hour, (or 1.5), you go in and settle/soothe (don't make eye contact), stop if they settle down, and see if they go back to sleep. Even if they happen to be crying at the one hour mark, just pick them up and the nap time is over. If they fall asleep right before the time is up, just leave them until they wake.
I tell you I was VERY skeptical, but figured I was at my last option, and my wits end. And I have been really happy with the results. Especially since she now sleeps through the building noise next door... LIke I said, it hasn't been perfect, although Chloe has been sick since the day we started all this so that may be playing a part in it. But now almost every day she has an hour in the morning, and 2hrs around lunch, then 30mins in the afternoon. Bedtime is 6pm.
She's asleep right now, and after 25mins woke because the guys next door are shovelling gravel basically outside my bedroom window (@#$holes!! lol), and she grizzled then fell asleep again.
She slept 2hrs this morning, has been asleep for 1 hr now and still going...
Tabby hope this is helpful, it is harder to explain than I thought and much easier when someone shows you... She also gave us a feeding guide (as far as times between naps) which has also helped, if you're interested just PM me. Cute pic of bathtime!! :) I want one of those bath seats too, but we can't give CHloe a bath like that right now because of water restrictions!! :banghead: It really sux... She showers with DH right now, but now that she's sitting we're going to get a small bath so she can play with toys and stuff. She loves playing with the shower water and opens her mouth and lets it run on her tongue, so funny!
Time for lunch.

No feeling sorry for ourselves in this post. The eczema has been better & worse at different parts of the day, really has a mind off it's own regardless of what we do or do not do. A few people have recommended the pawpaw and will be trying it soon. Too busy with the kidney issues to go down the dermatologist path yet but it's next on the list even though I think eczema is one of those things that even the experts scratch their heads about.
And medical stuff aside, we are having great fun with our boy. He is such a cheeky & willful little fella. Wants to touch everything that he can see (including grabbing the dog's fur!) & has also discovered the deafening scream/squeal, using it for both delight & frustration. Rolling around heaps the last few days and getting much closer to sitting by himself. He LOVES tickles, loves bashing together the shapes from his tupperware shape-o toy and loves trying to grab my glasses off my face. Seriously considering laser eye surgery because the little fingerprints on my glasses are driving me nuts!
Tabby, sorry that you seem to be having your turn at the sleepless nights that so many of us are very familiar with. I really thought you and Katie might have skipped that annoying phase. The very very frequent waking lasted a week or two for us.
Mummysgirl, that seems very similar to the strategy I've arrived at for finally getting Cameron to fall asleep in his cot. Haven't had to use the pram for a sleep in nearly 2 weeks but still need a bit of work on the resettling when he wakes too soon. Have also tried to make the 20mins or so before bed/nap very low key so he's already starting to relax.
Charis, hope H's cough eases up and that the red immunisation lump fades soon. I think on the leaflet they gave us it said it could last for several weeks.
Will probably pop on tomorrow anyway but if not thanks for the kind thoughts re Cameron's op on Monday and hopefully we'll be home before the end of the week so I can give you all an update. :)

Thanks Cat, Am hopeful will only last a few days as she has been an awesome sleeper since day one till now. Yes we have that scream/squeal now as well, used for both excitement and to tell me not happy jan!! lol
Mummysgirl: thankyou!! very very helpful and will put into practice tomorrows naps. Only thing I wasnt already doing was the eye contact so :fingerscrossed: thats all it needs.
Thanks TiredMummy. Had fun tonight while she worked out why she couldnt grab the bubbles, though a handful went in the mouth and wasnt wrapped lol. Hope you had a lovely day out.
Have started prepping the lounge walls ready for painting! fun fun. was hoping to start tonight but no decent sandpaper to rub back the fill ins. ah well, always tomorrow night

Hi Ladies,
Haven’t been on for a while. Talon and I came down with the flu that’s sweeping Australia at the moment. Talon’s on antibiotics to get rid of his. He’s slowing getting better. As for me I can’t take anything, so have to let nature take its course.
Cat – Good luck with Cams op on Monday, I’ve got some emu soap here that’s never been used if you want to have it. Apparently meant to be good for eczema. A friend of mine from Darwin swears by it . I brought if for DSD as she suffered from eczema when she was a baby. She’s never got eczema again. Just pm me if your interested.
Anyway gotta go and hang nappies out, be back on later.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hi guys, have been reading posts on and off for last few days but not replied, been too sick. Yesterday was pretty bad, felt dizzy sick all day- the only thing it compares to is alcohol poisoning! LOL!!! Yes I know what alcohol poisoning feels like due to my first year at uni. 9 Weeks and 2 days today, cant wait for this first trimester to be over.
No real personals today except to Cat and Cameron for op tomorrow.
I have read and I have forgotten who said what as my reading has been too staggered to retain all info.
I will keep this one short as I need to go and lay down for a little while, Hope all mums and bubs are well!

Hi guys
I haven't posted for ages again, but have been trying to read so i don't lag behind.
We have all been sick here, pretty well the whole month was a right off. I have struggled to get over the flu only to get bronchitis. Luke has had tonsilitis three times and Matt has had a throat infection and tonsilitis. And finally when the doctor put me on antibiotics to get rid of my bug, Matthew had an allergic reaction to the penicillan that he was on and the one that i was on. So now he is covered head to toe in hives. Poor little guy can't catch a break. So i am back to suffering without drugs.:banghead:
In between all of this happening, my brother and SIL had their baby last saturday night. A boy 'Taylor James'. So i have missed out on all those newborn cuddles because we have been so sick and don't want to pass anything bad on to them. Ah well i will get them soon enough.
:hugs: to cameron and Cat13 for operation on Monday. Hope it all goes well and he has a speedy recovery.
Anyway enough yapping from me i better go do a few jobs before the kidlets wake up.

Cat, good luck for tomorrow, we will be thinking of you and C.
Lukeandmattsmum, Liviesmum & Strawberry, hope you are all feeling better!
Tabby, great news that little Miss is back to good sleeping habits. Have fun painting & getting ready for your new lounge!
Mummysgirl, thanks for the refresher on sleeping bubs, you have inspired me to ditch the dummy when M is over his cold!
Us - I am beat after a late night for a friends 50th last night, had to drag DH to the car at midnight before the 40min drive home. Was fun night out though!
M had his 1st haircut today - got rid of the straggly side curls and lopped loads off the top to try to blend it in with his baldy patches on each side! He was happy enough to start with but needed constant entertaining by the end. We were very lucky my brother's girlfriend's Mum came over and did it for free after lunch today!

Am about up a pic in the other section, it shows Katies two bottom teeth.
good sleeps all xx

Forgot to add yesterday re: haircuts. Mil keeps saying how Katie needs a haircut. EVERY time she sees her and every time same response.no not yet All over a little bit that almost hangs her eyes but not quite plus I brush to the side anyhow. Whats the rush when one little bit ffs? (you can just see it in avatar, on the left ( above right eye)
Another great night thank goodness! She stirred twice but settled her self after a min or two.
Then went till 7am! Yesterday was 630,Shes come back even better than before ( 530am's). Well worth it if it keeps up.
Gave K some home made jelly after dinner. lol should have heard the yumyum's, we have been hearing a few here and there but this was many at once. Oh and when ever I give K anything in her hand I always say ta. mum swears she said it when given her bicky while I was painting, I thought I heard it too but didnt say anything as thought no way..too early?? Time will tell I suppose. Could be as we play a ta game where she gives me stuff and I give back saying ta every time
Hope everyone had a great w.e
bloody terrible weather here AGAIN. what 15 days in a row wasnt enough? lol ah well spose we need it.

Hi guys, I am off today and not feeling too bad...so far!
Sammy- Cute hair cut photos, he looks so grown up!!
Lukeandmattsmum- Sorry to hear how ill you have all been and for the HIVES! What a nightmare it must be for you right now!:hugs:
Tabby- Katie doesn't need a hair cut, she looks so lovely and the wispy Farrah Fawcett look she has going on costs other females hundreds of dollars to achieve!!LOL! I say leave it!:hair:
US- I have begun over the past few days (probably because I feel like Sh!t) to only feed Bridget Booby in the morning and at night. She has been having FF during the day. I am really liking this for my well being, but she seems to :barf: alot after having the bottle?? Any ideas at all as to why this may be??
Anyways Bridget is  soundly so I need to get my washing done as I did not achieve much over the weekend!

liviesmum: A couple of things come to mind
Could she be getting it too fast?
The formula doesn't agree with her ( maybe a change) or
Some reflux, which a thickener or thickened formula should help.
Well day two of Mummysgirls sleep nannys advice re: naps. Definitely the eye contact!!!! Shes going down much easier and when I think about it the first thing she does when you enter room is try to get your eye attention. THANKYOU MUMMYSGIRL :hugs::hugs:
A big improvement on going down, now to just get her into a more sound sleep, which happens with the self settle right?
Have fenced in the dog up the side in the day though to lessen his barking.
Just put Katie to bed and soon as asleep have the last bit above window to paint and am all done.
Cant wait for the new lounge! All need is a new mat and new curtains to set it off..oh and maybe new cushions lol. Poor dp, his wallet hurts just hearing about it

9 minutes to sleep and only once into the room to resettle WOOHOO
No eye contact also seems to equal no desperate cry after I leave which was what broke my heart and Ide give in

Hi-ya girlies,
After a couple of beautiful days, the wet weather has set in again. Think of the dams Tabby, the more they fill up the better our summer will be.
Cat...:hugs: :hugs: for you and Cameron today. All the best.
Dragonfly...great to hear you made it to Germany. We look forward to hearing about your adventures with C in a new coutry.
Mim1...have you tried pasta or pollenta (Sp?)
Tabby...I really enjoyed the night out. Met some new hubbers and had a great feed of Indian. We've got a Trolly Mate, used it for the first time on Sat. TJ just sat in it amazed at all the things she could see for the entire shop.
Mummysgirl...Have you also tried the Fedupwith foodadditives website? It is my bible for food, preservatives and additives. DD1's behaviour and sleeping habbits changed dramatically when I took out al the preservatives and additives and put her on a low salicylates diet. Have you tried the laundry trough for a bath? This is all I had for DD1. Meant she could have a deep bath without using too much water.
SammyG...so much hair, it will be a long time before TJ needs a haircut.
This ones for DD1:wizard: , she loves the magic man.
A slightly better nights sleep last night. Have been using a decongestant for the past few nights that is helping. Also used a plug in (no water) vapouriser last night that may also have helped. Bad news though is I now have her cr@ppy cold.
Big sleeps everyone,
Lisa

Hi everyone
Cat - :hugs: for you & Cam today. We will all be thinking of you.
Mouse - Hope you get over the cold soon.
Luke&MattsMum - Sorry to hear you have all been sick, hope everyone is feeling better.
US - Sierra is still eating & feeding really well. Had no effects from her needles on friday night so that was good. Had a couple of hours break from DD2 & Sierra on Saturday arvo when i went to see my dads new house so that was really good too. DD1 came as i can control what she touches etc. DD2 would have just gone crazy looking & touching lol.
Having another bit of a break tomorrow too, DH is having the day off work to watch the kids so i can go to a funeral. Family friend i have known all my life had a massive heart attack last tuesday & died last wednesday. It was a shock. She was only 69. I'm really happy i'm getting a days break but wish it was under happier circumstances.
Question - How many of the Jan bubs have teeth? Sierra doesnt have any yet, think they are close though. DD1 didnt get them til she was almost 7mths so i think Sierra will be the same.

TiredMummy,
Kaite has two (4. 1/2months ) the boys got theirs about the same age too. I just posted last night in pics section as can see them clearly now
Nice that the needles went well. belated :hugs:
So sorry for your loss too hun :hugs:
MouseB: Glad your night went well. Saturday was the same day we used ours for the first time too. Same thing, a look of amazement for ages lol. DP had to learn though, she almost grabbed the lollies on the side rail lol.
sorry to hear you have the cold now. Hope it doesnt get bad or last long xx
Katie slept for 45 mins that nap which is good for her first one. Plus she just laid there playing when she woke.
Forgot to say before how hard it is re insert dummy without looking ( eye contact) hahahha. yep wont fit in her ear luckily LOL
Well am all done painting, just waiting for the delivery now.
Have to do the hallway as well later, lots of marks and only main part I never did since moving in so may as well finish it off.
comps are now in our room. out of dining room to fit old lounge suite in. now to get DP off it more or Ill never see him hidden away in here lol.
Heres a question for those with more than one..Seeing as the teeth cut through the same time and sitting with all three was the same. are other stages likely to be reached about the same?, if so Im in for crawling ( 8 months with both boys) soon lol eek please tell me no lol
nap no2 of the day: Shes down and out in 5 minutes!!!! No complaints. This was the hardest nap to get her down for too.

Hello hello!!
Thoughts and thoughts for little Cameron and Cat13 in hospital post-op. Hope all went ok and he is recoverying well.:hugs:
Cordelia, I am so 30something..that what is 'facebook'? Great to hear that you've all survived the ILs. Hope you're having some special just family time.
TiredMummy, sorry to hear about the very sudden death of your family friend. V sad indeed :crying:
Well here the little kewpie doll (he does look like one!-except when screaming :) ) has worked out the arms and he has worked out the legs..but so far hasn't got them happening together! Phew. Will measure playpen space now. Finished work for the night. Night night all!!
Oh and love Katies hair! So soft and 'new' looking. I did get a bit emotional about all the 'firsts' that they are going through. But hair cutting will be a LONG way off for us, he he he. Loved Michaels barber shroud thing, so sweet even the end photo !! xxxS

Charis, M really needed the haircut but I still got emotional, I loved his straggly curls! He looks so much like his big brother at the same age now!
Cordelia, I'm with Charis - what is facebook?
Tabby, How does the lounge look? With regards to development, my two have been a bit different so far. B was sitting and enjoying tummy time lots by 6 months. M has rolled a few times, likes sitting on me more than anywhere else but is getting the hang of eating much more quickly than B ever did. B crawled at 7months but I don't think M will be on the move by the end of the month.
Hooray for B, he didn't wake during the night, had to settle M twice, 2nd time with a dreamfeed!
Was anyone else a fan of 'What About Brian'? Can't believe thay axed the show and that Channel 7 did not buy the final 3 episodes!!!

Morning all
Cordelia: Yep same here, what is face book?
Charis: I love how her hair looks now too. no way am letting mils constant comments to cut make it happen until im ready. There is always clips....Now to just keep them in, her hair is so fine they just slide out lol.
Your such a clever mummy, own playpen! Cant wait to see it.
Sammy: The lounge looks WONDERFUL. Am very very happy with it. Ended up painting the halls last night though, heh a bit like domino affect.
hmmm the toilet needs paint too now! argh lol
Ill take some pics later, busy day today, help clean ds1's house ready for inspection tomorrow.
Another awesome night, 2-3 moans/whinges early on but self settled easily
oh and arvo nap went down well too. but only for 40 minutes so was a bit cranky for a while.
Mil has arranged dinner for DP's birthday...
yes I had no say as usual. bloody hell am annoyed. Told DP he has to tell her, he has a family of his own now and not everything can be as it was. why she cant phone me an talk about it?? I had plans FFS...As ds2 and mine is only 3 days later I wanted a "family all in one" Dinner for all 3 of us with both parents.
As it was she planned it same night as me so I made her change..so now dinner the 17th AND 18th and totally separate celebrations.
bet she arranges time when I cant go! Katie has bed at 630-7, so dinner needs be 5ish if she wants her there.
I just dont know what to do about her when all it takes is for her to communicate with me first in regards get togethers etc. hard time letting her boy go maybe...

Tabby: so glad it has been working... I know what you mean about trying to get your attention- as soon as Chloe sees us she gets this HUGE smile on her face and starts giggling (see it out of the corner of our eye) and then is not happy when we don't play with her, lol. At first she would go through stages: yelling to get our attention, then being super cute, laughing, giggling, even coughing then laughing, and then she gets mad and starts her really cranky cry.
We got rid of the dummy the day the lady came. I was scared to death of the reaction she would have, thinking it would be twice as hard, but actually she was fine!! And we haven't used it since! I then realised that the dummy was one of our main problems with her sleeping (not saying it is with you, just that it was for us) because she would drop it (or spit it out on purpose!) so that we would come in and put it back in. I was so surprised that we got rid of it so easily... and also very thankful, lol!
Mousebrown: Thanks for that I will have a look. Glad dinner was nice for you, and I can't wait to use our trolley mate with Chloe... Just waiting til I'm sure she's got really good control over herself. What is a low salicylate diet? Unfortunately we don't have a laundry tub! I wish we did, that would be perfect! Maybe I can try a big bucket or something, lol!!!!
Tiredmummy: No teeth her either yet... The bottom 2 poked thru once before but disappeared again, and still haven't come back again. They are right there but haven't come thru yet. And her other teeth are all playing up and giving her problmes... poor baby.
Cordelia: I am addicted to facebook too!!! lol... More fun than myspace.. Facebook is a social networking site. (like myspace which I guess most people have heard of) Glad the ILs have gone!!!
SammyG: I'm also a What About Brian watcher, and I can't believe they did that... I want to know what happened!!!!
Well Chloe slept 2 hrs again this morning! And she has been asleep now for nearly 2 hrs again!! I'm so amazed... Her lunch nap was always the long one, but the morning was usually only an hour. :fingerscrossed: this keeps happening! Her night sleeps are getting better too, touch wood. Waking up at around 10, and then not again til 3.30 or so, then awake at 6.
ok, i jinxed it, she just woke up, lol...
Chloe blew her first raspberry today, won't be encouraging that since she has soo much drool at the moment, lol..

It would be probably be better if you didn't know about facebook if you're planning to leavethe house ever again!! But yeah, what mummysgirl said - like myspace but you carch up with old friends 100000 times quicker!
Ok last 2 nights - Caitlin has gone to sleep at 7:30 BY HERSELF... what the... Here's my tips (not that anyone uis probably stillstruggling with this)
Last nap is at 4:30-5:15 and she has dinner with us at 6:30
RELAXING Bath and **MASSAGE** at 7:00 followed by 200ml bottle.
Put happy, content, relaxed baby in the cot at 7:30 at a warm and comfy temperature and voila!! Put your feet up and watch some TV with DH....Takes about 10.5 hours to roast.
This is until she progresses onto another stage (probably tonight) and I spend another 4 months trying to work her out.

MummysGirl: Same here!! 2 hrs now, best arvo sleep in ages not in my arms. Shes woken (sorta) twice but self settled after a moan or two. So happy can finally get some time in the day to my self with babe asleep in arms
Might give the dummy the boot too then, shes never really relied on it anyhow, only to go to sleep and not during the night and so far not when stirring day naps shes not looking for it. I figure if she can do it mid sleep she can do start without as well
will wait a week though once this new settle routine is really set in place
Cordelia: Hope those lovely sounding night sleeps continue for you

Tabby: How good does it feel!!! Forgot to say "you're very welcome" before and thanks for the hugs, hehe..
Cordelia: Agreed on the getting out of the house bit! lol!!:p
Well I finally caved and went and bought cans and jars of baby food yesterday. I just do not have the energy right now to keep making stuff, I am so darned exhausted, not sure why since I've been getting more sleep so I should feel better not worse, right??
Anyway I made sure to only buy the ones that only have the veges/fruit/water (no thickeners or added stuff) so that they're a little healthier than some of the others on the market. Seems like the custard ones are out which is a shame (the organic one was ok though and she loves it!). Also bought yoghurt. Not too keen on the plain/natural (Added fruit to it). Wonder what she will think of the flavoured ones...
I feel kinda guilty about it but will just have to live with that since I just can't do it at the moment...

Hi guys, just a quickie, up a bit later than usual tonight, but thats because I am so far behind on my washing after my sickly weekend and I have nothing to wear to work tomorrow.
Glad all are having better sleeps now. We are too, but like I said before, we re-introduced wrapping and it has worked really well. I am a bit scared to get rid of the dummy though?? Sounds nice in theory but the execution would not be pretty!! lol!!
Teeth- Bridget has 2 on the bottom at about 19 weeks I think, was a while ago, beginning of June. A friends little girl is almost 10 months and has none yet, all seem quite different in regards to teeth.
Bridget was pulling her knees up under herself tonight, trying to move along. Wasn't happening for her, but might not be far off!!
Tabby- I gave Bridget some Infant Gaviscon in her bottle and no :barf: so will see how that goes. Had to do that for DD1.
Well best go and get this washing finished and get to bed!

Very quiet here this week. Nice weather and all out?
The sun is back out again here today but no plans other than rest, am pooped after the painting and cleaning ds1's house for inspection, so a day of NOTHING for me today.
liviesmum: Glad the gaviscon fixed it, :fingerscrossed: thats all is needed.
mummysgirl: Again great success, that arvo sleep went for just over 2 hrs and wow was she a happy gal and not cranky from little sleep. HUGE difference, even DP noticed when he got home. awesome night too, not even one wake/stir and up at 630 so 12 hrs. Its making a huge difference to me too, feel normal and lots more energy. much much happier mummy. Havnt even needed/wanted a mummy nap late arvo since.
Dont feel guilty re: jar food. That was almost solely Katie's first foods for ages, that and packets before I could be bothered, only recently have just started cooking up lots to freeze. ds1 @ 2 survived fine jars for AGES!
You say your feeling blah, could it be lack of iron? I started taking my elevit again for ttc and cannot believe the difference. I must have been lacking something. I noticed it within 2 days of starting them.
Katie has a nasty streak. She found out she can grab my neck/chest and pinch and boy does she think thats great. She actually gets the pinch ready then looks me in the eye waiting for my reaction while she does it. Also making a really weird sound while doing it, talk about sadistic lol.
oh and boy do I feel like a bad Mummy!!! While drying her last night I lifted up her arm and oh what a horrible red rash!!It was so RED and sore looking, Poor love, I mustnt have dried it properly the previous night and need to do it better now shes a chubba bubba Norti Mummy:( The cream has fixed it though, almost gone now

Hey a question and I hope you don't think it's TMI.. but.. have any of you got a suggestion for strengthening PF muscles. I was recommended to go on this chair (which transmits electro magnetic waves- equivalent to lots of kegel exercises), but it's a pain as I need a new referral and have to go three times per week etc etc. Have heard of exercises you can do with a fitball etc and others have recommended physio etc. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,
Ellembee - Hope you are all feeling better soon.
Havent read any other posts so sorry for no other personals just yet. Sierra is still eating & sleeping well. Still going down inbetween 6-7pm & waking at around 7-8am. The only time she wakes up in the night now is if she's got a dirty nappy. Thats been a couple of times in the last few weeks but other than that, its been really good. Its such a change from DD1 she was awake every 2 hrs when she was little & she is still not a great sleeper.
Sierra is eating 3 meals now. Have been getting her used to it for the last week. It was funny yesterday cos DH had to feed her cos i had to go to that funeral. I explained to him that he had to mix the rice cereal with the pear for breakfast & to the pumpkin for lunch & dinner. He tried to give her breakfast... a fruit gel & she cracked it at him so he made the pear, she liked that. Then for lunch he tried to give her the fruit gel again from breakfast... she cracked it again. So he made the pumpkin & she was happy. Glad i was home in time to give her dinner  Silly DH... He just thinks he can give her a full bottle & she wont be hungry anymore. I had to explain to him that bottles arent enough anymore. He should know after doing it twice already. Oh well. Now he does, doubt he will remember for next time though.
:hugs: Cat & Cameron.. hope everything went well. Thinking of you.
Bossoflatch - How's Tayla doing? Hope things are improving. :hugs:

Hi there Ladies:wave: I am off today, thank god!! I am soooo tired feel like I need to go back to bed already at 9:30 am!!
Been a bit quiet over the last 2 days on the thread, not much to personalise.
Wild at heart- not sure about the pf except for the regular pg exercises, which I feel I may need to get started on myself!!
All quiet here in my life. 10 weeks pg tomorrow. Not long til the m/s is completely over and have my next scan.
Bridget is not too bad. She has been getting a rash on her cheeks and chin due to her dribbling all the time, poor thing.
Anyways best get going, still washing today believe it or not!!

tired*mummy: LOL at DH. I can imagine of was mine how much Katie would crack it, there is no doubting when they are not impressed now huh lol
Ellembee: You poor thing! Hope you and the family are well soon :hugs:
wild at heart: Did you get another sleep through? :fingerscrossed: you did.
Pelvic floor: I have always done them since ds1 and only just found out mid pregnancy with Katie I wasnt doing them quite right!!! When you pull up and tighten those muscles your suppose to bring it right up high as in feel it right up, not just the "outer" bit. Right up to the tummy muscles and hold. Its made a huge difference and especially after Katie gave my bladder a beating things were not looking good but am noticing a improvement lately.
Well Miss K decided she should starting rolling again and is she making up for it. Last night she was on tummy time and went over and over till she was across the room. Now shes thinks shes the ants pants going from tummy to back and over and over.
The bum is also starting to get up in the air with the tummy time
Feeling rather crampy today and going by cm I ovulated again 6 days ago,:fingerscrossed: its implantation or if not at least its AF arrival finally!!!!

Tabby, I guess any news is good news, sounds like you are kicking into gear at any rate!
Liviesmum, Hope you catch some rest today!
Us, Just got back from 6month clinic check. I thought M was doing really well but apparently his weight gain isn't that great. He has dropped another percentile on the chart. I'm not too worried, he has still averaged 90g per week and he has only just gotten a taste for formula after 4 weeks. Previously we were fighting for him to take 80-100mls but as of the past couple of days he is holding the bottle himself and taking the whole 240mls. He also gets very excited at the 1st glimpse of the bottle and kicks up a real stink if you don't give it to him straight away!
Stupid stress tests at clinic - who these days doesn't worry occasionally, we are in the middle of a financial crisis and I think I'm coping just fine (helps that DH should sign contracts this week for that big job and we are getting tax refunds)
Anyone heard how little Cam is doing???

Ok now that Chloe is sleeping relatively well during the day, maybe you guys can give some hints for NIGHT SLEEP!! Ugh, she is still waking at least once. We had a few nights when it was only once, but that has stopped again. Wild at Heart how did you do it??? She goes down fine, no problems there at all, put her in the cot and go outside, she plays quietly in teh dark with her teddy for 10mins then falls asleep. She usually wakes again between 9 and 11.30 (we go to sleep after this one), then wakes again between around 2, and again sometimes between 3 and 4.30, then is up for the day usually at about 5.30, although this morning it was 5AM!!!! :banghead:
Also Sammy G I have taken some hope from your "formula" post, since we struggle to get Chloe to take the bottle at ALL, and when she does it's more of a struggle to get her to drink only between 20-80mls. Were you trying every day with the bottle? I haven't had the energy to try every day since it seems the more we offer, the more she refuses (once in a while she is ok with, but the more consistently we offer the less she drinks). She took one last night from DH, but after 2 goes at it still only had 50ml in total... I know she is not full (therefore she woke up at 1.40) and if I offer her a bf after she takes a lot. Have stopped doing that, hoping she'll realise it's the bottle or nothing for that feed.
Tabby: had some blood tests done last week and iron was fine, that's the first thing I suspected too... So it's not that, but I have started back on the elevit, see if that helps.. I hope so because I am sick of feeling like ****!
Chloe doesn't seem to like many of the jars of savoury food either... Doesn't mind the deserts but not keen on the mains.. oh well lucky she likes weet-bix. lol...

Mummys girl- chloe and Alex are exactly the same age!
We started by extending bedtime to 7pm where possible but having a wake up time of 7am where regardless of when he woke during night we would get him up. Waht he was doing was waking at 5am for a feed then not getting up til 9.15am which i'm sure made him thin.. "oooh don'y need to sleep at night as i'll just have a sleep in". The rest of the day was then chaos as no time for three solid meals or 2 sleeps. is that wot u are doing???
mummysgirl
09-08-2007, 09:07 PM
Wild at heart: Wow they have the same birthday?? How cool is that. :D Um, she has 3 sleeps during the day: morning (usually around 8.30), lunch (usually for 1.5-2hrs from about 11.30) and a short afternoon nap (30mins), about 3 or later depending on what time she wakes up from lunch nap... I don't think there's any way she could make it til 7 at night, she's bugging out by 6, or sometimes even earlier!
She used to go to sleep about 5.30 (because she was so tired by then), but I have gradually extended it to 6. And it was not easy.
When she wakes up at 5.30am that's it, she's awake, no going back to sleep no matter how much I beg her, lol. She USED to wake up at 6.50 EVERY morning, on the dot, but somehow we lost that... Then her morning nap was at 9.
I don't have any idea what happened. But I wish the 7am wake up would come back. A full night's sleep just makes me laugh, I can't even IMAGINE it happening!! :crying: There must be some trick to it I reckon, I just wish I could figure out what it is!

MummysGirl...Salicylates are explained on the website, but basically not all fruit and veges are healthy for everyone. They have natural chemicals (salicylates and amenies) that people often react to. Reactions can be behavioural (ADHD) as well as skin rashes, sleep patterns, coughs, allergies, constipation etc.
Have you tried the BabyBoost foods instead of tins? They are sachets, I get them from the cold section at Coles, they are 100% veges with no preservatives or additives. And I don't feel half as guilty as opening a tin.
Another ok night here last night (:smiliedance: that's two in a row). TJ only woke once for a feed and I managed to get some more sleep.
Had a cr@ppy day yesterday. Went to Moora (2 hours north of Perth) to visit my Nanna who had had a bad fall on Monday. She was in a huge amount of pain and just wants to die (she's 88). Unfortunately her body is still hanging in there. We said our goodbyes, so hopefull her body lets go soon.
Sound, long sleeps everyone,

Just to say MouseBrown very very sorry to hear about your Nanna. Great Grandma to TJ!! I hope her pain is lessening. Am sure it was a lift for her to see you and her little GGdaughters. :hugs: and :wizard: to DD1
Got to bed at midnight last night, have too much work to finish. Will be back on the weekend.
oh but more important than work: :fingerscrossed: Tabby
and Mummysgirl, we have the same day sleeps, but have the last one 5-5.40 or so..I know they say not to..but it works here. Then he's in bed 7.30/8 and goes till 5/6am for a feed/sleep-in till 7.30. Yep ok blessed, for this week at least! Gosh that negative 1/2hr must have been awful!
SammyG am sure Michael is just beautiful and not skinny or whatever the charts say..he certainly has gorgeous color and am sure he's filling nappies for you :) Oh and do you mean the silly 'have you been able to see the funny side of things' survey/form. I mean I'm sure we could just about all tick every box on those. At 4am I don't see the funny side of anything, but when H is giggling at the cat then everything is tremendously great. I hope you're going ok though, am certainly not seeing the 'light side' of PND. Great though, about the contract!
xxS night all.

Morning!
MouseB: sorry to hear about your Nanna, also hope her pain lessens for her xxx
Charis: Is that like the survey they do when pregnant as well? Am sure I lied on most of that as most of my feelings change minute to minute depending on whats happening so really dont agree with them, as you say there is a huge difference to after a hard night to watching them giggle/play/look at you with loving eyes. It changes constantly, I think I would refuse it now if asked..Have chn soon and will go this time just to get Katie checked over. Only concern I have is how her joints crack!!!! Even her back sometimes..but mostly her shoulders when I pick her up.
Hope you managed a earlier night.
back soon to finish, Katie needs me by the sound of that squeal!!!

Back!
mummysgirl: Katie has slept through for months,it was 7am wake then changed to be 5-530 wake time though same as you, it did change back and now we have 630-7 again. so :fingerscrossed: for you that it will go back there again. It lasted about 2 months.
Hope the vitamins help pick you up :)
Sammy: I think Charis has pretty much said it there. He looks wonderful!! Such a lovely colour and happy baby so take it with a grain of salt hun, am sure hes fine as you said.
Hugs again for Cam, hope all went well xxx
Katie slept till 7 again so have incorporated just the one morning nap, shes just had breaky and another bottle 9am and down to nap now at 10am,she didn't seem over tired like when tried it before so should go ok.

howdy strangers!!
its been soooo long and I couldn't even begin to catch up on all the posts but have skimmed the August thread. congratulations liviesmum on your BFP!! that's the one piece of news I've remembered.
It seems like Hamish and I are still on the same trip as everyone else with a focus on sleep and food at the moment. I got DESPERATE after what felt like 3 months of bad sleep and particularly bad since 6 month needles followed by a cold followed by two weeks away. By the time we got back Hamish was waking 4 or 5 times a night and often having screaming fits wanting to be fed and cuddled all the time. Poor little thing really had his routine thrown out although we tried to keep him to it.
So I went to the library armed with a list from the bubhub sleep section, none of which were there, but ended up with the Baby Whisperer. Well, all I have to say is she is a legend. Hamish has slept through from night 4 and has had his first unassisted long day sleep, at day 7 and I'm finally feeling normal again.
Any more news I've missed? Its nice to be back!

Phew...I thought there'd be heaps of pages to catch up on but looks like it's been pretty quiet in here while we've been in hospital.
Obviously, Cameron and I are now back home after being discharged this morning. Yay :smiliedance: I think we were both sick of being in that hospital room!
The op went really well on Monday. I think we were in a bit of denial beforehand but it really hit me after I got to go with C to pre-op (after putting on trendy surgical booties, cap & gown) and be with him as they put him under with the gas. I gave him a little kiss before they led me back out and then the next couple of hours until we got to see him in recovery around 5ish were a blur. He opened his eyes and gave us a little smile but didn't fully wake up until 1am. He had a big feed thank god. He had to fast from 7am and even though I'd expressed a few times I was bursting!
Was a bit tricky feeding at first because he had an IV in, a catheter & urine bag as well as a drain so there were cords going everywhere but surprised myself how I was soon confident handling him anyway. Also a bit tricky getting him to have his sleeps with all the distractions & not being able to wrap him but managed (mostly!). Might sound strange but after this experience I actually feel like a fully fledged mum. We were in the maternity ward so lots of little cries in the night and lots of memories about that special day nearly 7months ago.
C really amazed me with how GOOD he was and made me realise that overall he really is an easy baby  . He hardly sooked or complained (except naptime but nothing new there) and had smiles for all the nurses. I'd expected lots of sleepy recovering but nope, by next day he was practising rolling in the cot (and getting tangled in all the cords!) and trying to pull his IV out. Each day he is so much less a baby and more a little person.
A big thanks for keeping us in your thoughts. DH and I realise how lucky we are that this was only a week of hospital for us when some parents have bubs with more serious problems who are always in and out of hospital. They all deserve :hugs: & medals.

And now a bit of a catch up on what the latest hot topics seem to be:
canned/jar food - usually C gets home made but for hospy just went with the jars. Bought only the ones which were basically 100% fruit/veg so shouldn't really be any different from what I make but somehow he could tell. Had to mix yogurt in with them all to get C to eat them. Home today he ate my homemade veg & fruit no probs.
haircuts - no rush even though C still looks like a rooster with his big crest of hair atop his head. May trim a few odd long strands that hang down from teh base of his neck.
teeth - none and no signs as far as I can tell. Although his gums are v hard when he chomps down on my finger! Question - does teething involve bleeding at all? C had some blood on his thumb after sucking it and couldn't work out where it came from. may have scratched inside his mouth with his nail while sucking?
Must dash, my boy is awake! Take care all.

:smiliedance: for Cam being home. Great to hear things went so well.
Another ok night at home. TJ woke at 12.30 again. There seems to be a pattern forming over the past few nights, 12.30, 1, 12.30.
If this continues, how do I get her to go beyond this time? Any suggestions welcome.
Off to another 4th birthday party tomorrow. That's 3 in 4 weeks. Sure starts to bite the purse after a while. Hope the weather clears by teh afternoon.
TJ has two teeth. No bleeding Cat, so maybe C cut his mouth with his nails.
Happy sleeps people,
Lisa

and nope there shouldnt be blood, I would say he scratched somewhere.

Katie is again today rolling around the room :yelclap:

PS no blood for G's first toothy peg either
cat ... that's great news that Cam is ok.
Has anyone heard from bossoflatch about little tayla?
tabby .... :smiliedance: for katie's rolling
We've had a really busy week and I've missed quite a few days of posts, so sorry for no more personals.
Big news here ...
Josh has a tooth!!! I found it on Monday night during his bath! He bit me and I thought that it felt sharper than usual and eventually he let me look in his mouth and the whole top of a tooth was through! He didn't feed that well on Sunday, but otherwise I hadn't noticed any issues.
Josh is crawling!!! He started this morning when mum was looking after him. I joked about him doing it when we weren't around and mum said, oh no, he just pushes with his feet and goes forward, he's not crawling. I was shocked! He hadn't gone forward before and he was fully commando crawling, mum just didn't call it crawling. He's done it plenty of times this afternoon to show us all!
He got his vaccinations tonight, including his fluvax and he screamed a lot before going to sleep. Hopefully we have a good night. I laughed when I read all your comments about sleeping through ... last night Josh fed at 9pm, 12:15am, 2:45am, 5:45am and 8:30am ... the last feed was while he was asleep cause I had to go out all morning and leave him with mum. Since that he's fed at 12:45pm, 4pm and 7pm ... that's 7 feeds already!!!

HI everyone
Cat - Glad everyting went ok & Cam is doing well. I bet you are happy to be home.
Mim - :yelclap: for Josh crawling & his first tooth.
No teeth here yet still. Think they are very close though. Sierra had a bit of a restless night last night. Woke @ 12.50 & i changed her a gave her a bottle but she was still tossing & turning & rolling around in her cot until 2.15am. Dont know if it was because she had dinner a bit earlier & she was hungry or if she just wasnt tired. Hopefully tonight will be back to normal. DD1 & 2 have been driving me crazy today. DD1 cos she just keeps nagging me for things over & over again & DD2 cos she's still not doing #2 on the toilet & today it just frustrated me ALOT! She went 5 times in her pull up, ( put her back in pull ups cos i was sick of cleaning her undies) & instead of telling me she had done it she would just play as normal & then go to the toilet to do a wee & get poo all over the toilet & herself :barf: . So i've been :hair: out all day. I dont know what else to try & get her to do it. Happy its the weekend & DH can deal with it
Sorry for no other personals... havent really had the time tonight to catch up.
Happy weekends to all.

 And so great to hear Cam and Cat13 +DH are all home and well!!! Also for reminding us of how lucky we all are, also this 1st world country :) Was very cute about the rolling rolling with the IV and tubes! and trying to pull them out. Hmm for sure, I think we all can envisage that. A happy at home weekend for you all!
Wonderful about you feeling a fullly 'fledged' Mum!!
And Mim1 JOSH crawling!!! WOW. They are such powerhouses aren't they. Esp after seeing Clea's crawling video I just want to see him do it..then stop of course (!). We might all have to do some defining of crawling I imagine..but isn't it anything forward/and a bit back??
Tabby how's this for long time reply, but YES it is Point Fraser playground, great place, next to causeway. Great landscape design to explore.
Speaking of great design..FREDDIE! YAH thought we'd have to come and visit  great you and H are back and that BABY WHISPERER is working some :wizard: for you all. Tell us the goss about it?? But excellent for your sleep and for Hamish too!!
Tired Mummy, just in awe about the toilet training. Us newbies here are just watching and learning. I think we just offer moral support and tell you what you know that 'it wont always be like this' and that consistency, patience and persistence are the key. Ha ha, hee yes it looks good in words, but cleaning poo off clothes and toilets,,hmm Maybe not feeding her is an option. Kidding. Gosh. Hope the weekend is cleaner. You are awesome!
MouseBrown, no nothing of any import on them not waking. I think the best thing is to write on here that there is a pattern as you did, 12.30, 1, 12.30 and lo and behold it changes the minute you write it.But do hope tonight is much better!
H is asleep 7.30/8 and wakes coughing or farting about same time as TJ, but goes straight back to sleep with dummy. Then wakes for feed 5ish and sleepytime in bed with me. Been that for about 3wks. But that too will change.
Well long enough post.. but THANK GOODNESS its Friday. Did two after 12 work nights and got it all finished last night, though was almost asleep drawing..but then was able to have day mostly off. YAH. So an hour of dropping drawings off this morning and then did the weekly shop and unfortunately someone, I think in a high car or low truck must have reversed into my little honda civic and hit the side rear window with their tow ball. Got back to it, in the rain with H and rear window all smashed into a million pieces. Have become madder about it as the day went on, such a hassle. Though first thought was for Hunter as there was glass all over his mats/toys/paraphernalia that accumulate in the car. So a major cleaning and taping window enterprise this arvo. Hmm.
But a positive note I think his Dad might actually be at swimming with us tomorrow! YAH.
Night all and happy weekends all!! xxxx

Mim – yay for Josh’s 1st toothy peg and crawling.
Freddie - Great to hear from you.
Cat – So glad everything went ok with Cameron. We were all thinking of you and the family.
Us – Talon is in the middle of cutting his fourth tooth. I can feel it so not to far away. He’s getting over the flu slowly. Don’t think he’s to far away from crawling aswell. He’s very quick in rolling everywhere and getting into everything lol. He’s still my dream baby, still has 2 x 2hr naps during the day and sleep through the night. Not much to report from me. I’m definitely starting to show. Going onto 17 weeks and feeling great.
Better go have some washing to hang out and after Talon wakes up from his morning nap were heading to the shops. Only day hubby has off today, so its family time today.
Have a great weekend ladies

Very quiet..Hope everyones having a good weekend.
Sunshine here today again yay!
Posted on the pics thread a couple of Katie in bed, now that shes rolling everywhere its harder to get her settled :banghead:
And after I had it all sorted too.
tabby ... josh rolls (and CRAWLS!!!) all around his cot now instead of going to sleep. The annoying thing is that he does it quietly. I've put him down, fully wrapped and here no noise and assume he's asleep. But, no I go in there, find him completely unwrapped and at the opposite end of the cot! It's SO annoying. I'm trying to stop wrapping cause he rolls whilst wrapped, but I've failed dismally on that so far.
Josh did not recover from his vaccinations well. I think it might have been the fluvax that really set him off. I finally got to bed at 1:45am this morning!!! He was awake from 7 - 11pm, slept for 45 minutes, woke up screaming. I fed him, but he continued screaming for over an hour til dh finally got him to sleep by 12:45am. 5 minutes later he was awake and wanting to play! So, at 1am I was watching him crawl around the lounge, but that only lasted 15 minutes before the screaming started again. He finally got to sleep at 1:45am and so did I. But, an hour later he was awake again. He fed again and fell asleep before he'd finished. He was really restless though and when I put him in the cot he rolled straight onto his tummy (twice) and yet he was fully wrapped and had his eyes closed. So, he came to bed with us for the first time ever overnight. 3 hours later I woke up and put him back in bed and he continued to sleep til 10am.
He seems better today so that's good. But noise has just come through the monitor ... he was going to sleep I assumed ... I bet he's rolling around and up to mischief again!! grrr!

MIM1- you poor thing, how are you feeling...a little tired??
Tabby- Bridget is getting up on her knees too!! She prefers to sit now but when shes on her belly she puts that crawling business into practice.
Very quiet here this weekend, must be all that beaut weather. It would have to be 17-18 degrees outside atm, we have not had temps like that for months, but it is suppose to return to cold weather again tomorrow 10 degrees!!
Better go, I actually have a head cold. I said to DH on Friday that we have been lucky not to get real sick this winter.... spoke too soon obviously.
Catch you all later.

hi everyone
we are all slowly recovering from the terrible bout of flu we have had. Fortunately G's hit was the mildest. Mine has been the worst - but I suspect it also has something to do with the mastitis and the fact that the mummy never gets to rest when she should!
gorgeous gorgeous warm weather - am looking forward to spring and being able to put G in little dresses and things with no stockings.
FIL over for dinner tonight - so am just preparing a lamb roast - easy to just whack in the oven. FIL drives me nuts - most pessamistic (sp?) outlook on life you have ever encountered! Oh well - we can't all be married to orphans can we?
Charis & Mouse - i tried those boost sachets you guys mentioned. They really are great aren't they? The consistency is just like homemade! We are going on holidays in a few weeks - so I think I might stock up on these.
Tabby - Given that Katie hates tummy time - how did she start the rolling thing? Was she on her back when she started? Very cute photos of her spying on you!
Mim - wow - little Josh seems to have come along in leaps and bounds!
nothing else from me.

Elle: She was on her back as usual one day and then rolled onto her tummy then a few minutes later back onto her back, now she just goes from one to another constantly. Also when shes on her tummy shes perched herself higher so I gather it helps the reflux which is why she hated it before and doesn't mind it as much now.
Having a hard time trying to get her to nap right at this moment, she keeps getting onto her tummy and up the top end then crying out cos she cant turn back :banghead:
Glad your flu is slowly but surely ending and yes I agree, we cant rest as others do to help recuperate quicker!

Tabby, Cameron is doing the same thing in his cot. Just has we discovered the wonders of wrapping again he decided rolling in the cot was the best fun ever so now have to leave his hands out.
We are now giving him 10 mins or so to get the rolling out of his system and go in and rescue whenever he finds himself stuck against the side and whinges (he could roll back to the middle of the cot if he wanted except of course that is not the direction he wants to roll in!). After 10 mins he is usually well and truly tuckered out so we go back in, rewrap & hold one hand while he sucks teh other thumb and :fingerscrossed: drifts off. He sometimes self settles but seems to like the hand holding lately.
Cordelia
12-08-2007, 08:42 PM
oh man mim - what a night! Hope you got some sleeps today and some relief tonight.
Caitlin's rolling has just taken on a life of it's own too - as has laying on her back and kind of turning and reaching for whatever happens to be above her head which is really really frustrating... especially when it happens to be the bars of the cot (even if she's at the base)
She fell off the bed the other day for the first time :( It was my fault - I left her there when I hurried to the loo and left the dummy on the bedside table.. she must have rolled over and reached to grab it - fortunately she landed on my slipper and wasn't too fazed by it (UNLIKE ME!)
I think DH and I have decided to go with teh flow with contraception atm.. I'm breastfeeding so that's all we're using and if something happens - well so be it. Quite exciting and good to have no pressure about it all. Am wondering how I'll know if I'm pregnant given that AF is so random and really non-existent - I guess when the nausea and heartburn start and my clothes dont fit!
Anyway, STARVING
Thanks for the comments everyone. It seems that Josh's late start to the day (10am) means a late finish. It's 11:15pm here and he's still playing and thinks bed isn't much fun! grrr! Hasn't been a great night. I am tired and I really could have done with help from dh. BUT, we went for a walk late this afternoon and he got a bite from something and came up in a big rash all over his legs and he had swollen knees. So, he had to take 50mg of phenergan (for those of you who don't know - that's a LOT!!) and amazingly he stayed awake til 10:30pm, but he was pretty out of it, just lying on the couch. He took Josh at one point when he was grumpy, but poor dh could only last a few minutes before handing him back. At least dh's legs looked better before he fell asleep, but that dose will make him sleepy til tomorrow.
Mum got us an airwrap thing for the cot and for those of you with rolling babies - it's great! It's a cot bumper, but it's mesh and breathable, so ok with regards to SIDS (apparently). I didn't put it across the drop side so that I can see him when I look in the door at night, but it reduces the number of lost dummies (he loves to through them against the wall!!) and it stops him getting his legs and arms through the cot rails.
ellembee ... sorry to hear you've all been sick. Hope you're continuing to recover.

Hi everyone. Thankyou so much for replying to my thread. I think i have a serious case of paranoid mumma syndrome!
Wow everyone sounds like bubs are going great guns. I havent read through the whole thread but so far its all sounding great.
Cordellia, congrats on being able to just go with the flow....i reackon you will have nausea very soon!
Tabby how is your ttc going? Good luck.
Mim, i hope josh settles for you. I think that i handled sleep deprevation much better when ds was first born...it seems to knock me around harder these days.
Yes i find it very hard to type with tom on my lap.
Well tom is rolling too. Last night he took up the whole bed. i was squished into the corner then he got grumpy because i wouldnt move out of the way so he could keep rolling. i woke to being head butted in the chest!
Last week i bit the bullet and decided to wean tom of his night feeds. It was pretty hard going by myself but he is now going until 4am without a feed. I hope to have him sleeping completely through in a month so he can start staying overnight with his dad. His dad is missing him a lot and i would love a bit of a break, so its full steam ahead! Im trying to express each morning and freezing the milk so his dad has a stock pile!

Hi guys, taken the day off today, the head cold was too much for me and when you cant take anything it really is hard to deal with. It sucks a bit though as I still had to go to school this morning and prepare lessons for the casual. I was at school for 40 minutes feeling like cr@p, it really sucks having to do that!!:banghead:
Mim- 11:15 pm and still in the mood to party!! Josh must be really out of whack due to the night before. Hope you can get some rest soon.
Cordelia- Cool maybe another BFP on the way!!
Ellembee- Glad your flu is on the mend, this flu going around this year is rather scary!!
Cat- Hows Cameron, is he over his hospital visit?
Tabby- AF yet??
Better get off here and be sick for the rest of the day considering I have taken a sickie I suppose!

Having fun trying though
liviesmum: You poor love, hope your feeling better soon :hugs:
Acacia: Heh had to giggle at the head butting trying to get you out of the way lol.
Mim: sorry to hear it was another late one. :fingerscrossed: thats the end of it!!!
Cat: SO FRUSTRATING! Had just got her used to self settle in the cot day naps as well and pooof out the window it went. Same again today, had to put her to sleep my arms first as no way was she settling in the cot. Might try a new tactic today and wait till shes reallly tired and see how I go.
DP's brothers gf having her 12 weeks scan today...very exciting! but must say I think I have pregnancy envy I was hoping we could do it together, would have nice to share it with someone not too far ahead so am finding am a bit down in the dumps today :(. So so silly of me!!! I have 3 lovely kids for goodness sake yet im envious of this?
uhoh miss awake!!

Tabby - Its not silly that you feel that way. When we found out that my brother's wife was pregnant or find out anyone else is pregnant i always feel a little down knowing that i wont be having anymore. I dont even want anymore but the thoughts still enter my mind. I feel sad that i wont be able to experience that again. Oh well... i have 3 healthy kids & been thru 4 pregancies already. I think i would be crazy to do it again anyway
LiviesMum - Really hope you are feeling better soon.
Mim - Hope Josh settles into an earlier sleeping routine for you.
Us - Not much happening here really. Sierra has a runny nose but hasnt gotten any worse yet. :fingerscrossed: it doesnt. We looked around at display homes all day yesterday. It was hard to choose what we liked best. We have narrowed it down to 3 but its still hard. Cant decide... they are all nice & i would love any of them but trying to decide which would be best for the kids as well as us. Oh decisions, decisions. Plenty of time to decide though, not in a rush cos its a huge decision & step.
Happy days & sleeps to all.

Well we are finally getting over all of our sickness here. Thank god. Matt has decided that squealing is a fun thing to do at the moment. Me thinks it is not. He is definately not far from crawling, not that i am ready for it yet. He rolls everywhere but at least it is not as fast as crawling.
Well for the first time since Matt was about 1 week old, i wrapped him to go to sleep tonight in attempt to see if he will sleep through.:fingerscrossed: He was so funny when i was wrapping him he was squealing and laughing as if he was in a straight jacket. He looked like he was in one too i wrapped him that tight. He put up a bit of a fuss when i put him down but went to sleep by himself for the first time in a while, so hopefully it work.
I'm having trouble getting Matt to drink his bottle at the moment. Im not sure weather it is because i have gone to the step 2 in his formula or what. I am still mainly breastfeeding and even these feeds have dropped back. His solids intake isn't huge so it's not like he is filling up on them. Has this happened to any one else?

Hi girls
Well what is there to report....Macy still isnt crawling - Im sure she is teasing us. Tonight I put her bottle in front of her and she pushed up on her arms and then straightened her legs so her bum is in the air and tries to crawl that way. Hahaha she still hasnt quite got the hang of it, very close though. I must take a photo of it, I dont think we have taken any of her for about a month....naughty mummy:shame:
She is going well at childcare and seems to have settled into her routine there. Two sleeps during the day and lots of solids.
I've changed positions at work which is a good thing - more money and I get to learn something new. I was bored in the other position already even though Id only been back since the end of June.
Also, will be testing in a couple of days if AF doesnt arrive. I've got a funny feeling in my boobs hahahhaha. Although I have been getting that around the time I ovulate for the past 2 AF's but this is later..... so :fingerscrossed: for a BFP
I feel bad for rambling about us but I dont get on here much anymore and there is too much to catch up for personals. SO I'll just send out :hugs: to all the mums and bubs and hope things are going well for everyone
Love us

Just a quick hello as my sister is visiting us from Melbourne this week (and loving the warm weather!) so can't be antisocial and spend too much time on the computer.
Cameron is recovering very well from his op. All back to normal as far as he's concerned and only diff for us is sponge bathing instead of a 'proper' bath and some very nasty nappies thanks to antibiotics  . Even took him to his music/play class yesterday & did everthing per normal apart from one song where the babies get held upside down and flipped over. He normally loves it but would have had to hold him where his wound is.
Not much other news. No sitting or crawling just LOTS of rolling. And in the middle of all the cot rolling my former tummy time hater fell asleep this morning for a 25min nap on his belly, thumb in mouth. So cute!
Sorry no personals again but have read all your posts and hope everyone is doing well.

Cat13: Glad alls well and recovery seems fast and painfree. What a champ!!!
korahblue: oooer :fingerscrossed: for you when you test!!! Good luck :babydust2:
Lukeandmattsmum: So happy to hear all the family is finally getting better.
Mim was saying her pead warned her that once solids start that it can go either way with milk.
Not sure what to do, Katie still has 5 bottles a day plus her 3 meals and snacks
Do you milk feed first?
Well fingers crossed I have a easier time getting Katie to day nap!!! I tried wrapping again and well lets say, shes very strong willed just like her Mum I think. That fight just made her angry lol
She got angry then upset and had to console her and go sleep my arms again.
I also tried waiting till she was sooo tired and waited for her to wear herself out but no luck.
Any ideas? Am thinking ill have to wait till crawl time where she will be worn out and hopefully zonk out easy then...
really annoying as I had just sorted her day naps with Mummysgirls help and they were perfect!!!

Hi everyone
cat - soooo glad the recovery is happening speedily. as Tabby said, what a champ.
Tabby - its so annoying when things fall into place and then something changes. Happened with my sleep throughs - she got a tooth and then a cold - so it all went out the window. Was good girl last night though. Lets hope Katie gets blase about her rolling trick soon. I actually had a dream about Katie last night, I dreamt that I was up getting G's bottle and thought "I may as well make Katies too". How weird is that!
Milk before or after? - I have started giving milk feeds after solids as she wasn't eating enough solids - filing up on formula. G has 4 - 5 bottles in a 24 hour period. 3 of those are during the day after her meals - one is at 10/11pm and then sometimes one at about 2/3am.

Thats a lovely dream to have Ellembee :) And who wouldn't want to get Katie a bottle she is so cute peeking at you Tabby up the end of the cot :) Yes, same position here often. Probably some of the cutest minutes of the day, going in and he's 'crawled' all over the cot and is chewing 'Brier' with and arm and leg stuck out and grinning ear to ear. That kind of 'what a clever boy am I' look. Yes rolls and rolls and rolls.
Mim1, the weekend nights sounded really hard. The bit about Josh rolling by stealth did get me laughing out loud
KorahBlue and perhaps Cordelia, so v exciting about possible BFPs!!
Glad the sick bubs + families are all well and that Cameron is completely recovered except for wound.
Hardly any goss.. just work, walks and feeds! :chef: Yes I think that is a new one! We played + fed in a park by the sea this morning with talking to carpenters and glaziers just up the road either side of that. H really v happy as long as he's attached to me..and he is enamoured with the 'beautiful baby in the mirror', of course any mirror.
Still having three day sleeps here, and does have BF before solids, I know there doesn;t seem to be a common agreement either way, but this way he seems to self regulate.
Has everyone seen awesome US ad. called 'Children See Children Do' go to youtube and search for that title. It is worth the watch!!!!!!!
Happy nights all. Work glorious work now.

Hi girls
Thought it was time I checked in again. All is good here. We have finally started solids, just 2 sloppy meals a day so far, not overly interested but seems to like pumpkin so that's a start!
R is still sleeping well and is interested in everything although not quite sitting by himself yet, is more interested in being mobile and trying to crawl lol.
I have been busy with my home business and about to start sewing so it's all busy here. I still catch up with the melb Feb girls every fortnight, do the Perthies still meet?
I'm not sure how many BFP's there are in here so maybe someone can bring me up to date? Congrats to anyone who has one though. How are you going with the TTC'ing Tabby?
I have an appt with Melb IVF on 21st aug to start the ball rolling for bub #2, so that's exciting. Not sure yet what path we have to take but I hope it's insemination again rather than IVF :fingerscrossed:
Ok, that's a quick update. Hope everyone is well and that all bubs are thriving :)

Do keep me in touch with your TTC wont you xx
Charis:hahah yes thats it, the cheeky grin saying how clever am I mum!!! Busy busy lady, so lucky you can take him with you and have awesome fun as well!!
Us: Katie learnt to wave yesterday arvo, DP came home and as usual peeked through the door with a wave and she waved back!!! Was so cute as then she kept doing it and then looking at our hands then hers. you could see her mind ticking over! So love this age, so much to learn and so much wonder from them about it all.
Lovely sleep, 7pm-almost 7am, I think she was awake and playing before that though, when I heard her I went in and yep on her tummy looking through the bars lauginging and talking and a HUGE giggle when she saw me. SO cheeky!
Hope everyones well
oh DP's birthday tomorrow, mine Sunday AND ds2 turns 16 Sunday as well, so busy here Thursday night for DP and his family to dinner and Saturday night for ours/DPs with my family.
Yes....DP's family cant work it to go to a all in one as we wanted....
I got DP a lovely gold watch...hes never worn one but when asked a few months back he said he would if had one.

Hi!! Well, our computer decided it had had enough, the power supply inside quit, luckily we didn't lose anything (ALL of Chloe's photos were on there...) (Yes, I was having a heart attack!) and now we're back in business.
Tabby: What a bugger! Just when you had it sorted! Not sure if this would help with the rolling or not, but I sleep Chloe in those roll things, they velcro onto the bottom part so that they can't roll around. Because of the reflux she sleeps on an incline, and without it she started turning around and rolling downhill, lol! Still sleeps on an incline, and now she tries to roll over in there but the rolls keep her in place (she can still get onto her side, just not all the way over).
Glad to hear Cameron is doing well after the op...
You know I read everything I missed, and they were the only ones I can remember.... Geez, what I'd do to have a memory again, lol!!
So I'll leave it there for now, but hope you are all well and happy...

Hi-ya Girlies,
Charis...yep, as soon as I mentioned she was developing a pattern with her sleep, TJ changed again. The past couple of nights she's waking up for 4 hourly feeds:banghead: . Bummer about the car window. I had my run of bad car dents (caused by car doors) at Christmas time.
Ellembee...Yes, the Boost packets make going out so easy. Can't wait to start the 10 month ones as they look great! TJ sometimes has her milk after her feeds of solids, but often only has milk for night feeds and inbetween solid feeds.
Hels...good to hear from you again. Good luck with the IVF appointment.
Tabby...happybirthday for tomorrow. It's DD1's birthday today.
I've had a fairly cr@ppy time as of late. TJ just seemed ot get over her cold (and waking a million times during the night because of it), and DD1 gets sick. She's had heaches and fevers for the past couple of days (and has been waking lots at night). Some mornings I feel like I haven't slept at all and others I know I've managed one 2-3 hours sleep during the night. And for the past 2 nights TJ has woken for two feeds. Last night was 10.30 and 2.
Was doing some reading the other day looking for suggestions on getting wee monsters to sleep through. One site mentioned that at each of the development stages (rolling over, crawling etc) their sleep patterns go haywire. From the recent posts, this seems true for a lot of us. Have changed the way I hold TJ when it's time for bed. Instead of cuddling her in my lap, I raise her to my shoulder, then put her to be from there. She's doing ok self settling during the day and initially at night. But sometimes during the night she won't resettle easily. I think it's my tired factor hindering the process.
Sorry for the long post. Hope everyone starts to get better sleeps soon,
Lisa

Mouse you are having a hard time with the sleeping of late you poor bugger, and it does not help when you are tired and exhausted as well.
Tabby big few days ahead of you with all those Birthdays!! It is always the way in families, there will be a month particularly busy with b'days.
Charis- 3 Day sleeps!!! You lucky thing! Bridget has decided she doesn't like morning sleeps anymore and will rarely have one. We are lucky to get one big sleep in the arvo atm! She has 20 mintues catnaps on my lap but as soon as I move she is awake- she is a sticky beak and so scared she will miss out on something!
Ellembee- we are doing milk before feed. I am FF during the day. Bridget usually refuses the bottle if she has food first so I swapped it around. I thought it was still important to make sure they are getting enough fluids, but I dont know?
Cat13 Glad Cameron is going well and making a speedy recovery!
Here- Well things are ok. My head cold did ease, I just have a slight cough and blocked nose- but that could be the pg? I have a Dr's appt. tomorrow arvo so hopefully I will be booking in for the NT scan in the next week or so- very exciting to see what is going on in there.
Bridget is well- she is practicing her crawling techniques but not quite there, atm she is playing with herself in the mirror while I type- she is very amused by who she can see. The mirror is probably the best interactive fun a baby can have!!
7 months old today:smiliedance: my gosh does time fly!! Where has that time gone?
Anyways better go and begin my day! Hope you are all well.

Happy 7 months for Cam and Bridget :smiliedance:
MouseB: Happy birthday for dd1 yesterday.
Your really getting a rough time of it sleep wise lately you poor thing. Hope they improve real soon :hugs:
mummysgirl: I must admit though that after I put her cot she is still sleeping well and for longer periods so thats still a good thing. I keep trying, am sure she will adapt back to it later, shes really a easy bub except for that one thing so cant complain :)
Lucky the comp wasn't affected much and all needed was the psu!
AM very lucky here, have two computer savvy nerds. DP and ds1 ( works comp shop ) so never without for longer than a few hrs is troubles lol.
Cheeki!! Was about to ask how you were as was thinking of you only yesterday. Things sound wonderful as usual. Two lovely cherubs of yours.
Solids, huge list as Katie is well into it but will add what can remember
They consist of one of these:
Breaky: farex & fruit / weetbix / farex banana cereal / plus toast with vegimite to nibble after.
Lunches: farex baby custard / baby yogurt / soft boiled egg yolk with bread bits soaked in / grilled cheese on toast / followed by cruskits or a milk arrow root bicky.
Dinners: a mix of either: Potato / pumpkin / sweet potato / peas / cauliflower / broccoli / either alone or with gravy or grated cheese in the mash.
tin spaghetti
spaghetti bog
Am sure there is heaps more!

:smiliedance: Happy 7 months for Cam & Bridget.
Sierra is 7 months today aswell. Cant believe how fast its gone. Sierra has been a little grumpy the last couple of days. Think she has a tooth coming thru as she is dribbling heaps over the last 2 days & is a bit sooky & bit warm. She has a little lump on her gum so i think its not far away. She looks so cute with her gummy smiles thought so i'll miss that.
Just got home... been out since 7:30 this morning. Took DH to work, then DD2 to kinder then to my SIL for a while before taking DD1 to kinder. Left Sierra with SIL while taking DD1 to kinder (as its just around the corner) & then went back & stayed for coffee & lunch. Just put Sierra down for her nap & its almost time to get up & go get the girls from kinder. The day has just gone too fast.
Will catch up with other personals tonight.

Didn't realise there were 3 bubs born on the same day tiredmummy - any other 16th Jan bubs??
Had C weighed, 7.3kg and 69.5cm long. The growth seems to have slowed down so might finally start getting some longer wear out of his clothes.
He's been such a good boy lately, settling down for 2 naps a day with minimal fuss. :yelclap: ...and to think it only took a mere 7 months to get to this stage and will probably all go out the window tomorrow.

Hi everyone!
I feel very slack, haven't had the energy to post lately. Sinus has been playing up and only today managed to remember to buy meds. I have finished BF, my (.)(.)'s are finally my own again (DH wants them back LOL) M rejected me for the last time last week (night before AF arrived again) I didn't feel full the following morning so thought it was as good a time as any to wean completely. I haven't had any discomfort and M has taken to the FF finally so maybe he will chubb up a bit! Up to 1 and a 1/2 good solid meals a day too! Plus cruskits etc.
Thanks to Tabby & Charis and anyone else with kind thoughts after my disappointing clinic visit last week!
Happy 7months to C, S & B.
Tabby, hope you have a lovely family day on Sun, still deciding what to do for DH's Birthday - yes another 19th celebration.
Cheeki, great to hear the bubs are doing so well.
Hels, hope it's a straight forward procedure for you! How exciting!

Man I am so tired!! Doesn't seem to matter what I do, Chloe wakes up at night, and has been sleeping well in the morning, but only 30 mins again at lunchtime... Tried starting back on Elevit, but I keep forgetting to take them. Builder has been drilling into the floor beams to put the ceiling up downstairs, so frustrating, he's quiet right up until I put Chloe down for a nap, then starts drilling. Today I just about lost it. Dad was here so went down and told him in no uncertain terms to find something quieter for him to do, but it was too late, she was awake and worked herself into such a frenzy that there was never going to be more sleep to have... :hair: I cannot wait for this building stuff to be finished!!! I should be grateful, since we pay very little rent, but you would think people could be a little more CONSIDERATE! lol..
Ok that's my vent, sorry bout that.
Happy 7mths to everyone. Wow, so many 16th babies: Chloe is the 15th so I guess she just missed out..
Now, Tabby: Happy birthday to everyone!
I can't believe all the foods Katie eats! That's awesome! I'm a little scared to start with the toast/bickies etc, she doesn't like chunks at ALL yet... (Apparently this is normal for refluxy babies??) I tried her on some chunky pears and she didn't just gag, she threw up almost her whole meal... Chloe loves her weetbix, esp with fruit, thankfully because they are so easy. She won't eat jars of baby food anymore. A few days of that and she was done. Desserts are fine. So I guess I still have to make veges..
SammyG: Congrats on weaning. Are you less tired at all? I feel like that would be the solution to half of my problems at the moment... But then I'd have to make bottles everytime, and at the rate that Chloe rejects them, I'd waste tins and tins of formula. She really is going through a very strange eating phase at the moment. Had almost no (bf)milk today (what's the bet she wakes up all night tonight to get her quota in). HOw much are they supposed to have per day by now anyway???
Regarding teeth: You have all heard my rants about Chloe's incessant teething for the last 4 months (and still no teeth), well today I noticed white spots on her gum. She has a tooth coming through- but NOT THE RIGHT ONE! It's a molar!! The first one beside the eye tooth on the bottom!! No doubt it will disappear again, but for not 3 points of it are poking thru the skin. What the...???!!
Hels: Best of luck!! :fingerscrossed:
Mousebrown: Hope things settle down for you again soon. I hope that is why CHloe's sleep is so messed up. Although it has never really been good. But she crawls around now, slowly, like a caterpillar, so funny to watch. But she's doing much more rocking and push ups etc, so I'm sure she'll be getting around very quickly very soon. Still haven't started babyproofing......... Just the thought of it makes me shudder..... lol.
Let's hope that we ALL get some sleep tonight, I know I sure need it. (Bottles means DH can do night feeds doesn't it- well that's one fantastic reason to wean right there!!) :D

mummysgirl, not noticing a massive difference in tiredness yet but I weaned gradually over 4weeks, was down to just one feed by last Thurs when we stopped completely. I miss the closeness but am loving no bra at nighttime finally, no breast pads and can finally enjoy a drink and take meds! M still wakes at 4am or 5am occasionally for his 1st feed but more often than not it's now 6am. Bubs are meant to have no more than 1L of milk per day by this stage. I'm back into the swing of bottles, I have 8 so just sterilise once every day and a half or so and fill all with boiled water so we are ready to go anywhere at anytime!
mummysgirl
16-08-2007, 06:30 PM
SammyG: Chloe has taken 100ml the last 2 nights for the 10pm feed, that's the most she's ever taken, and she still has a big bf straight after. DH feeds her the bottle til she flat out refuses to drink anymore, but she is still not full so I have to bf the rest (otherwise we get woken every 3 hrs). Did Michael start out like that or did he just start taking it straight away?? And how much does he have each feed?
Having them all ready with water sounds like a good idea.
Yes, I have never really been a big drinker, but I am SO looking forward to having a wine (or 6), lol!
SammyG
16-08-2007, 08:20 PM
Chloe sounds exactly like Michael, sometimes I struggled to get 80mls into him. He rejected BF both times I got AF so must have gotten hungry, now he takes anywhere from 160-240mls per feed and has 4 bottles per day (average 200mls) I would say it took a good 3weeks for him to have a good FF. If he gets too tired he won't drink well no matter how hard I try! It's a fine line! Such a juggle when he is getting used to solids at the same time!
I haven't been a big drinker for years but it's so nice not to have to think about everything you put into your body for a change. Being PG & then BF makes a long time between drinks!
mummysgirl
16-08-2007, 08:49 PM
Oh thank god, so there is still hope for us yet, lol! Haven't had any signs of AF yet, which I'm not unhappy about, that is one great thing about being pg then bf. I'd say we're in about week 3 now so hopefully it'll happen soon. I started with the late night feed because I figured being harder to digest it would keep her full longer, hence I would get more sleep. That's only happened twice so far. And not in a row... OF COURSE! :D
Thanks SammyG. I have one more question, sorry to fill up the forum with this, it'll be my last one! Do you have a schedule for solids and ff? (At the same time/couple of hours apart etc) And what times does he seem to want the bottle?
I am just so confused with what on earth is going on with her feeding right now- her morning bf is anywhere between 430 and 7, then she doesn't have another decent one (just a few mouthfuls here and there) until 3pm, then before bed (and that's not usually even that big! maybe half of one side) then after the bottle around 9-1030pm.. ????? (and of course when she wakes up early morning, 2am or so.
Something's gotta give. Right now it's me cos I just don't have the energy to keep dealing with it...
Tabby
16-08-2007, 11:03 PM
Just a quick one as visitors have left.
Mummysgirl: we have a almost set routine for solids and formula if this helps.
6 am wake for 200mils
8am nap
9am wake, breaky
10am-10.30ish 200mils
11am nap
12pm wake & lunch
1pm-130ish 200mils
2pm nap
3.30ish wake and 100 mils
5pm dinner
bath time
630pm 200mils
bed!
The toast etc, Katie has been solids since 4and a half months so her chewing etc is way ahead as she had more practice, so toast was only started at 6months, a few gags here and there but nothing too much, now she hardly ever does and if happens she coughs it right out if decides its too big. Not sure on the reflux bubs thing..Katie only has slight reflux so might be why shes ok...
Just give it time.....once youve gone from sloppy to a bit chunkier mash etc she should be ok to start toast etc. She probably needs more time to get used to this eating solids thing
More tomorrow, sleep now!
Good sleeps all round to ALL xx

Mummys girl - I have recently weaned G and had the same experience as per Sammy re amount of formula taken. I was lucky if she drank 80mls to start with (makes me think thats why she breastfed so frequently!).
My solids/feeding timetable while she was getting used to the bottle was as follows:
7am - wake and bottle
8 am - breaky
9 am - bed
11 am - bottle
12 noon - lunch
1 - pm - bed
3 pm - bottle
4.30ish - nap on walk in pram
5 pm - dinner
6 pm bath
6.15 - bottle
6.30 - bed
(and then whatever happens at night happens - usually woke twice)
BUT once she got used to the bottle and drank the full bottle - I found she wasn't eating enough solids (filling up on formula). So then I switched it to:
6.30 - 7am - wake and breaky
8.30 am - bottle
9 am - bed
11.30 am/12 noon - lunch
12.30 - pm - bottle
1.00pm - bed
4.30ish nap on wlak in pram
5 pm - dinner
6 pm bath
6.15 - bottle
6.30 - bed
Since doing the above routine - she now wakes between 10pm and midnight for a bottle and then thats it till the morning. Unless she has a tooth or a cold - its always something right!!!!!
SammyG
17-08-2007, 09:55 AM
Tabby & Ellembee, thanks heaps for the routines - we don't seem to have much clue over here. Starting solids and bottles at the same time has confused the hell out of me.
This is us-
6am Bottle and back to bed
7:30am Up and Brekkie (try to feed both boys at once)
9:30am Bed or pram if out as we usually are!
11am Bottle
12:30pm Lunch
2pm Bed
3:30pm Bottle
4:30pm Dinner
6pm Bath
7pm Bottle and Bed
But M sleeps for 2hrs and mucks up routine or sleeps less and mucks up routine so we are still just mucking around. We don't always get 3 meals in yet either! Breakfast, dinner and a snack are the norm so far!
Poor M, woke up miserable at 10pm last night, snotty nose and raspy cough that sounded sore. Took 30 mins and nurofen to settle him. he's crashed now - quiet day at home much to DS1's dismay!

:hugs: MummysGirl...You're not alone in this. We are going through the same things. And TJ eats a huge lumpy dinner and is FF.
We don't have a set routine, and instead just go with the flow. TJ being at daycare 3 days also makes it hard to get into a routine, as well as the fact that some days she sleeps and others she cat naps.
I have a cr@ppy cold at the moment. It's no wonder with the lack of sleep I've been getting along with the fact that both girls have been sick. Been in bed by 8.30 the past two nights, with TJ waking for two feeds each night. She must be going through another growth spurt or something. Anyone know when Bubs are due to hit another growth spurt?
A beautiful day ahead in Perth tomorrow. We are supposed to be going to the zoo for DD1's birthday, just hope I'm up to a day of traipsing through the zoo. One bonus is DH is home for another couple of nights this time as he has some courses in Perth Tues and Wed. So hopefully I'll be able to get ontop of this cold while he's still home.
Spoke to my sister (in Tassie) last night, they are moving home again and will be back in Perth by the end of the month. :smiliedance: means we get to cuddle one anothers bubs for the first time.
Big sleeps everyone,
Lisa
lisa ... that's great about your sister moving to perth. I have having family nearby, especially my niece & nephews.
Josh is trying to breast feed under the 3 hour mark in the evenings and I think he's going through a growth spurt. My SIL suggested that I try solids before milk in the morning (cause he isn't interested after he's had milk) and he had quite a bit of solids this morning. I gave him some solids this evening before milk too, but he still wanted milk 2 1/2 hours after his last feed. It's hard cause I think he'd eat more solids, but it seems to set off his reflux if I give him too much.
We don't have a set routine. We've just got back from 10 days away and we have been away for 5 weeks of the last 8, so it's been almost impossible to institute any routine.
So, here's what he did today.
2am - milk feed (he woke up cause I got up and found him on his tummy, so turned him over, hence waking him up)
6:30am - wake up, milk feed
7:30am - sleep
9:30am - wake up, play
10:15am - 1/2 jar of pureed apples
10:45am - milk feed
11:30am - sleep
12:15pm - wake up, play
1:40pm - sleep
2:30pm - wake up, milk feed
3:30pm - went with me to bunnings and he enjoyed it so much he wouldn't go to sleep
5pm - home from bunnings, play time
5:30pm - milk feed
6pm - sleep
6:45pm - wake up, grizzly
7pm - sleep
7:45pm - wake up, 1/2 jar of pear & banana
8pm - bath
8:30pm - milk feed

MouseB: Hope you get some rest while DH around so you can help that cold bugger off!
Sammy: Mind you it has taken 3 months to get to that routine...Only just this last couple of weeks its become pretty regular.
Hope Michael gets a goods sleep and that cold starts to get better.
Out to dinner tomorrow for the birthdays and the baby expo Sunday here in Perth. I wanted to go last yr but DP was working and didnt want to go alone, he has the day off this time, lucky him? lol

Oh anyone got the fisher price rainforest jumperoo?
Considering we have no door frames at its the same cost as jumper with frame PLUS has lots and lots of play things on it and it turns, I think I might grab one Tuesday.

Mouse, don't know if it's a growth spurt or not but C is also have 2 feeds a night around 11/12 ish and 3/4ish. The worst is if the 2nd one isn't until 5.30 becasue then he thinks it's actually his first of the day and there's no going back to sleep which starts our whole day off on the wrong foot. My other theory is he's making up for the smaller amount of milk he's having during the day due to solids.
While I'm on here, any tips for getting C to take his antibiotics without it being a big battle very single time?? The first few days he actually opened his mouth for the syringe as if I was feeding him and even reopened it for more. Then he caught on and his mouth is clamped shut as soon as the syringe comes out. I don't think it's the taste so much as objecting to the syringe being put in his mouth against his will but he has to have it and it's meant to be immediately after food.
Hope you have fun at dinner & baby expo tomorrow Tabby.
Hope colds/sinuses improve Mouse & Sammy and any other sick mummies. Have been very lucky here despite it being one of the worst cold/flu seasons. The bonus of being a homebody!

Cat: You could try a eye dropped instead, they are much softer so to speak and even if he clamps you can slide it in at the corner of his mouth past his gums without hurting him? oh and being thin and long you can get it right in there near the throat without upset
can you add it too a bottle of something?
a little juice / milk maybe..?
Katie is awake from nap and I can hear her talking and banging something in there lol can bet shes on her tummy up one end for sure!

Cat - Does Cam take a dummy at all? You can buy the medicine dummies, that you just put the medicine into and they can either suck on it or it just drips thru the little hole. I have one but Sierra wont take any dummy. But i have used it a few times & its rather good. Just hard trying to get it into her mouth... she wont suck on it (she wont with any dummy) but it drips thru the hole slowly & she doesnt spit it out. Anyway just a suggestion.

Cat: In the start we found we had to mix panadol with some warm water and feed it to him from a bottle (now he will take from syringe).. worth a try??
I found that when Alex was waking the most during night it was that I was trying to give him too many solids. One time I stopped his lunchtime solids and gave him extra b/m and he slept well (amy have been a coincidence!). I kept doing it until he was sleeping better then I started the lunchtime feed. Alex has always been more full after bm than solids.. the combination works well for us though. I find it a bit hard to get the balance right. So many people tell you that it all gets easy once they have solids...!
In the Save Our Sleep book it says to give solids an hour after b/m but I find that it's hard to do anything or go anywhere when we are doing that. Maybe solids then breastmilk after to wash it down? I always worry he will be too full after solids and won't drink enough....!!

Our routine goes something like this (but as soon as we get it down pat something changes and it all goes out thw window.. hmmmhf)
7am: wake. breastfeed
8am: solids (farex and fruit/ porridge and fruit/ weetbix and fruit)
9am: sleep
11am: wake up. breastfeed
12pm: solids (yoghurt/ veges/ fruit)
1pm: sleep
3pm: wake. breastfeed
4:30pm: catnap if I can get him to. Otherwise I need to entertain him
5:10/ 5:20pm: solids
6pm: shower/ bath (earlier if he is tired)
6:20ish: breastfeed
7pm (at latest) bed
sometimes 11pm feed then awake again, but if doesn't wake at 11pm then sometimes wakes around 4am for quick feed.
Midwife from sleep clinic said they often need another feed at night around 10/ 11 until solids are well established at 7 months.

wild at heart - i was following that routine too, but as i said, i found her solids intake decreased dramatically. once i switched to bottle after solids (about half an hour after) she went from 5/6 bottles to 4 bottles beacuse of the increase in solids. i also found we had more time to get out and about.
I'm also enjoying the switch to solids before milk eventhough I've only been trying it for 2 days. This morning Josh had milk at 2:30am (which is his usual time for a night feed), then 7:30am. Mum & I took him out with us shopping and I didn't want to breast feed out unless I had to. He had 1/2 - 2/3 of a jar of pear & apricot at 11am, but wasn't screaming for it or anything. Then he didn't have milk til nearly 1pm!! It's now 4:30pm and he's sound asleep.

Well we have just got back from our 3rd trip to the doctors in 3 days and have finally been told that Macy has tonsilitis and have been given some antiobiotics. Thursday we were told just to give her panadol and fluids, yesterday I waited for over 2 hours and didnt even get to see the doctor :hair: I had to leave to pick Jozef up from school. So in the meantime poor Macy has been suffering through a temperature and very smelly breath. Thankfully we now have some antibiotics and suppository panadol as she kept bringing up the oral panadol.
:fingerscrossed: Macy will be back to her happy self in the next 24 hours
Her routine [when she isnt sick!!] atm is:
7 - wake her up
7.10 bottle
7.30 take her to childcare
8.30/9 breakfast [cereal or fruit]
10/11ish - nap and bottle when she wakes up if there's still a while till lunch
12:30 - lunch [vegies and yoghurt, water]
1.30-4 - nap and bottle when wakes up, sometimes a biscuit around 4 if she doesnt sleep long
5 - home time
6 - dinner [vegies or jar of babyfood]
7:30/8 - bath & bottle
9 - bed for the night
Weekends are pretty much the same except she will sleep in till about 8:30 so I just give her a bottle when she wakes and leave out the morning solids and we go swimming on Sundays @ 11 so she has her nap after and lunch when she wakes up

Hi there everyone
I'm a new mum to this link. I've got a 7 and a half month old DD called Sophie who is the absolute light of my life!
She's got 7 teeth, crazy hair, still wakes about 2-3 times per night  (has never slept through...doh!), will not take a bottle or formula - only wants to be BF (trust me....we've tried EVERYTHING!), isn't really getting into the solids as I'd hope she would and hasn't really got a fantastic routine in place:hair:. I've tried everything to get her to feed at certain times, sleep at certain times but in our house, she seems to make all the rules! At first it really got to me as I'm a bit of a routine freak, but now I have just learned to surrender to it and just go with the flow. It's either that or be constantly stressed.
In my HUGE experience of 7 and a half months as a mother (ha ha), the one thing I've learned is that you just have to realise that they are constantly changing and just when you think you've got something down pat, it ALL changes and off you go again.
My most important motto is - HAPPY MUMMY= HAPPY BABY.
I look forward to hearing from other January mums and maybe some of you are experiencing the same kinds of hurdles as me (ie solids and sleeping issues).
:)

Hey sebmum, welcome to the thread! As you can see most of us are sharing the same issues at the moment.
You are very local to me, we are in Brookvale (we have probably walked past each other at the mall) my little M is 6 and a half months (had to wait till the last possible day in Jan) Hope you find as much fun and support in here as the rest of us!

Hey chicks...
Haven't been on for ages. Had 2 and a half weeks away with Dh and the kids at the Gold Coast, sunshine coast and then some time at the inlaws.
Lots to catch up on - sorry I have only skimmed most stuff.
Cat - so glad Cameron's op went well.
Tabby - sorry you still have no answers re AF. Was hoping to come back to find you had posted a BFP!!!
Us - As I said, been on hols. Had a fab time and kelsey was a real angel about her routine being messed about and sleeping in different places. She was a total sweetie in the car for the long drive and hardly cried at all.
Would you believe - first day of our holiday and I got AF!! Grrrrr!!
Kelsey has 3 teeth and is sort of sitting (a bit slumped so not really strong enough in the back). No crawling yet but didn't get much play time while away as there were always so many family members who wanted a cuddle. She will rock on her hands and knees when I prop her up but nowhere near crawling yet. But she has started saying "dada" and today said "mumum" for the first time. She is such a sweet happy little girl and even my Mil comented that she is the easiest baby she has ever looked after. she is developing a lovely personality with her gappy toothy grin and 2 of the cutest dimples.
Anyway - sorry it was a bit of a 'me' post but will keep up from now on.
Take care

Hi sebmum - nice to meet you :)
Re: giving medicine.. Dh usually distracts her and gets her to smile while I shove the syringe in her mouth and wammo! Although I have to admit... more than half of it probably escapes
baby expo: went yesterday too! Very exciting and got lots of samples. Bought a trolley mate for shopping... remember going last year when I was pregnant and having ppl pounce on me more - fresh naive meat. This year, we walked around and went pffft.. who'd buy that. teehee
I'm going to write my routine out as well so dont bother reading it - i just think it's fantastic we actually have one now and am so excited to share!
5:00 - breastfeed then go to sleep in our bed
7:00 - Breakfast (weetbix, pear and formula followed by toast soldiers)
8:00 - play
9:00 - sleep
10:00 - play
11:00 - formula
12:00 - lunch ( meat and veg followed by dessert ohhh yum)
12:30 - sleep
2:30 - play
4:30 - sleep
5:30 - breastfeed
6:00 - dinner with us (feed as much as possible which usually ends up being a truckload)
7:00 - bath
7:15 - formula
7:30 - SHE GOES TO SLEEP.. IMMEDIATELY!!!!! This is GROUNDBREAKING!!!!
So I'm a bit excited... ;)
korah - hope macy gets better soon!
Caitlin and I appear to have conjuctivitis.. nto like oozing terribly but woke up and couldnt open my eye this morning. I think it's from Caitlin playing with another baby's toy who's owner had conjuctivitis about a month ago - wouldnt have thought the germs would still be there. Anyway, *** Does this go away or do I need to get something from the chemist?? (I know now to not touch the other @#$*& eye!)

Hi all been MIA over last few days, been rather busy. I am only going to leave a short post today as I am really tired, and feeling a bit yuck.
You all have very similar routines to me in some way. It is nice to have some structure as it is great to have an idea of what bub might want at certain times of the day.
Tabby- is it your B'day today?? I know there were a few coming up this weekend so happybirthday's!!
Better go will come chat agin soon when I am not so tired!

Thanks for the well wishes. She doesnt have a temperature today for the first time since thursday which is great!!
Macy had conjunctivitis a couple of months ago and the chemist told us just to bath it in warm water using a cotton ball. We added a bit of salt for good measure and it went away in a couple of days.
Also I have found a good way to get babies to take their medicine is to measure it out in a syringe and then bit by bit give it to them on their feeding spoon. Macy is having demazin, panadol and antibiotics at the moment and its the only way she will take them.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas for helping C's medicine go down. I've gone with Korah's suggestion of transferring the dose from the syringe to his feeding spoon. Sneak it in when he's about 2/3 through his meal so he still has something yummy to chase it down with. Working well so far but :fingerscrossed: he doesn't catch on!
Welcome sebmum. I think you'll find we have all had turns at various sleeping/feeding/routine issues to varying degrees. My DS Cameron is mostly an  but lots of :banghead: trying to help him fall asleep although improving greatly recently.
Welcome back Flicka. Glad you had a nice holiday (despite AF arriving - guess you'll have to be more careful now unless you have decided you would like a 3rd!) and glad to hear Kelsey handled it so well.
Routines - won't bother posting ours because it is more a plan rather than anything we often actually achieve. Much like wildathearts though based on the 'Save our Sleep' suggestions.
Had a lovely day today. My sisters last day visiting here in Townsville so we took her to Billabong Sanctuary as she is a huge animal lover. Started drizzling not long after we arrived but not too bad and the sunshade on the pram kept C mostly dry. Not sure he really took much notice of the animals but he still enjoyed being out & about and was such a good boy despite it being a long day for him. I think he'll miss his aunty tomorrow - we have similar features & voice and I think he thought he had 2 mums for the week.
Cordelia, hope the conjunctivitis clears quickly.
Korah, hope the antiobiotics do the trick with Macy's tonsilitis.
Liviesmum, hope you get the chance for some much needed rest & feel better soon.

Hi lovely ladies!! And welcome SebMum too! Lovely name for your precious bub, he he. (mine too!) Looking forward to chatting with you.
happybirthday to dear TABBY!!!!!!! And Will send you some virtual flowers from us all too!! Tell us how the celebrations went, how yr DPs birthday went (have I got this right?) and if Katie brought you brekky in bed. I wish! Hope you had a lovely day!!
MouseBrown great about yr DP home and the zoo visit on such a lovely day, yesterday. Lovely about yr Sister and your nephew?? Is that right? First grandson? As for your signature about the sleep fairy.. I think Freddie has seen her and she worked some amazing wonders, but spoke to her Thurs and she said the worst nights ever! Hope sleep is returning for Hamish oh andTJ too!
Interesting schedules, yes we're just about exactly the same Cordelia (and both v close to Wild at Heart). Only diff is Hunter has a b-f afternoon tea at 2.30, but the rest is exact to the minute :) he he we could baby sit in synch bubs. Speaking of which next meet, he he??
Cat13 great you're able to spoon it in. Also was going to say, go the spoon. Much less heartrending, so good it works. Hope his wound etc is all healing well and its all a distant memory.
Flicka - great to hear from you. Post a toothy grin shot :)
Well a very nice weekend here, too much work last week to get on here much. But lovely weekend and his dad and I are getting on, which is lovely for us all. S'ok not getting on. he he.
We even went to watch him race (+win) the kind of event I would have used to do, this morning. I imagine it is something that will pass, but am more interested in making organic chicken stew and freezing it all for H than I am in racing or training or being away from H. Is this quite normal?? I imagine one's self returns gradually from the selflessness.??? Not rushing it here. Is this difficult for other 'Daddys' to understand?
Hunter is just so roly poly, tis so cute. Oh and is definitely spitting it anytime anyone besides Mummy (or sometimes Daddy) looks after him. Hmm! Anyone else??
night all. off to bed early for once. dreading the work week..xxxxx

Hi ladies,
Charis - i think the selflessness thing stays around for ages - perhaps the rest of our lives????!!! We always have someone to put before ourselves now but it is totally normal to be so focussed on Hunter. ANd yes, I think men do find that difficult. Whilst they love the kids I don't think it is in entirely the same way as us....
Was reading about all of your routines......we don't have a solid routine but usually like to be home for a morning and arvo sleep. We have a good routine when it comes to bedtime (bath/dinner/story/boobie/bed). I guess you just do whatever works for you. I remember a few weeks back Kelsey was finding it hard to stay awake for 1.5 hours - now she is awake 2-3 hours.
happybirthday Tabby !!!!!! Hope you had a big slice of b'day cake.
kelsey had her first taste of meat last night. She was licking her lips like a little frog so I think she liked it!!
Well, off to do some sewing today. Hoping to make kelsey a couple of little summer dresses.
Take care xx
PS Kelsey nipped me for the first time yesterday when feeding - I let our a scream and at first she laughed (little monkey) but it soon turned to a very big frown and some tears. Hope I scared her so she won't do it again!

Hi everyone, thanks for all the routine posts, a lot of them sound similar to what we have been doing so I guess we're on teh right track. It's not really working of late though, Chloe seems to want bm instead of solids, much to DH's frustration since he's been off work for the last 5 days and i told him it's his turn so i can rest. Yesterday she screamed when he tried to feed her because she wanted her bm instead of what DH was feeding, and same today. Also happens other days but I don't notice so much because I'm usually the one feeding her anyway. This has been going on for a couple of weeks....
The guide we try to follow (and times vary depending on what time she wakes up and naps etc, just go with the flow there but stick to a basic guide as far as time between meals etc) is:
6am wake up/bf
730 breakfast
800 nap
10:00 bf
1130 lunch
play til sleepy then nap (12?)
2:00 bf
nap somewhere in here
430 dinner
5:00 bath
530/545 bf
in bed by 6. although she's usually tired earlier than this.
She slept the longest ever last night: 8hrs!!! But, this was from 6 til 2, and because I was waiting for her to wake up (usually 1030/11) i couldn't sleep til after 12... so i didn't really get much benefit from it unfortunately. but tonight i won't be waiting. (and she'll probably wake up because i'm not! lol) And when she woke up she was so hungry that she drank 150mls bottle, the most EVER. :smiliedance: Then still had to top up on bm.
Mousebrown: Hope you're feeling better soon, it will be nice to have your sister around. :)
Sebmum: Welcome!
Flicka: welcome back, glad your holiday was nice, except for the unwelcome (?) return of AF at just the wrong time!
Korahblue: First, thankyou for the gel, it has been fantastic. I think I put too much the first time- finished putting it in Chloe's mouth, the licked my finger and even just the leftovers made my mouth numb!! teehee!! Poor thing, I bet she couldn't feel a thing in there for hours!! And she kept coughing, maybe her throat was numb too, i felt awful! but she did sleep well. Hope little Macy is feeling much better soon, how yuk for her...
Well DH and i went to see a movie on Friday night! First time we've been out together without Chloe. My mum came over and babysat (if you can call it that) while we went. Chloe didn't make a peep the whole time we were gone. I spent much of the movie hoping she didn't wake up, but still enjoyed it thoroughly.
It's raining, finally, and the grass may turn green again now. DH was supposed to be back at work today, but is home again because of the rain. I can't say I'm disappointed, it's nice to have someone around to help out, even if I have to tell him how to do everything still (after 7 months...).

Hi everyone
MummysGirl - I still have to tell DH how to do things even after 4 1/2 years. You'd think he'd be able to remember from DD1 & 2 but nope... has no idea. If i go out i have to tell him when to give Sierra her solids, bottle, nap etc  Men!!
Tabby - happybirthday for yesterday. Glad you had a nice weekend. Pity about no sleep in or brekkie in bed.
US - Not much happening around here really. DD1 & I have colds again. Sierra had a runny nose last week & is better but still not 100%. I have a really sore throat & DD1's nose is running heaps & she has wiped it so much that under her nose & her top lip is bright red, dry & cracked skin... poor thing, looks really sore. She keeps licking it but do you think she will listen when i tell her it will only make it worse...
Sierra is still eating & sleeping well. She has decided over the last week or so that 3-4am is time to wake up & dirty her nappy lol. So have been getting up the change her everynight around that time. She goes straight back to sleep but its still annoying having to get up lol. Still no teeth here yet either. She has just figured out that when she sits she can now bounce up & down. We laugh every time she does it cos it looks so funny but its very cute.
As for routines... we dont really have one. She will wake up around 7-8am & usually i just give her a bottle so i can go back to bed  And then she will have her breakfast around 9-9.30. Then another bottle & nap, then when she wakes up she will have her lunch. Her morning nap is usually 1 1/2 - 2hrs sometimes longer. So i wont wake her for her lunch i will just wait til shes ready to wake up. Then she will play for a couple of hours, have a afternoon nap, then get up have her dinner, play, bath, bottle & bed again. Shes usually in bed by 6:30 - 7:30pm, so i think even though we dont have a set routine, its working pretty well for us, so far.

Cordelia, I found that the conjunctivitis hung around too long as I wasn't cleaning M's hands enough and he kept rubbing his eyes, once I became super obsessed about clean hands (more than usual) it cleared up quickly.
Tabby, glad you had a nice Birthday. We couldn't take Dh out for lunch as the weather was too foul for the Newport Arms but had lovely Arvo T with family, cake & balloons for DS1.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Tiredmummy: have you tried aloe vera tissues for dd1? i swear by them and at the first sign of a cold will go get some and havnt had the red soreness with one since. Hope all those sniffles n colds get better soon xxx
Mummysgirl: Glad your night out was so nice! I think I might be due for another break, am finding am rather grumpy of late.
Sammy: Ah your arvo sounds lovely! I actually enjoy those more. DP's night for his birthday was in with his family and takeout which we all enjoyed, DS2 on Sat, it was his fav eat place so he was happy, me? I try go with the flow, as long as everyone else is happy...Im happy. :D
Cant wait for fathers day!!! DP's first one!
Am planning a lovely breakfast of bacon and eggs after his sleep-in and will just probably buy the " DAD" coffee cup from Katie. Then maybe lunch with my Dad.
Whats everyone else doing?
Katie is 8 months tomorrow!!!!!!

Sorry girls I haven't checked in for a while! Was interested in reading the sorts of foods the bubs are having now.
Billy is really, really well generally having 2 sleeps during the day, one at 10am and then again at 2pm. In bed for the night around 7pm, but still wakes about 2 or 3 times during the night. Still BF exclusively but have tried intro bottle without much luck.
X DH is causing me some dramas of the house, he is seeking legal advice but I hope we don't have to sell. Not sure if I will stay in Alice Springs if it comes down to that, maybe go back to hometown Adelaide. Time will tell....
Hope all babies are well, haven't had the time to check through posts.

Hi everyone
Tabby - so glad you had a lovely b'day.
Don't have the energy to do any more personals - sorry!
Us - G had meat for the first time tonight and she absolutely loved it. I decided she could have exactly the same meal as we are having tonight - veal, spinich mixed with cheese as well as potato and sweet potato mash (I will do our veal in garlic and white wine though). She is just soooo gorgeous. I think I love this age more than any other (so far). She just adores both DH and I and I keep thinking that we need to lap this up as it might not be the case when she is a teenager (lol)!! Goodness me she is lovely! We are going on our first family holiday next week for two weeks. She will just love having both of us with her for 24 hours a day. Need to adjust to a new travel mindset though - need a kitchenette and won't be going out at night. Will be weird for DH and I - but lovely all the same. Will try to make it romantic - with lots of cheese platters and wine and try (and convince DH a new baby would be lovely!).

Ok everyone, I need some advice as I am going crazy....:hair:
Macy is still refusing to have a bottle. Like I said before we were told she had tonsilitis on Saturday and has been on antibiotics since then. Her bad breath and temp have cleared up and she is generally a lot better. However she will only have one bottle in the morning of 120ml and then will only eat solids for the rest of the day. I have tried different liquids in her bottle, a sippy cup, syringing it, putting it on a spoon - everything I can think of but she is refusing it all. The only thing I have been successfull with is making her solids really runny so she gets as much fluid as possible
I've never had tonsilitis and DS never had it so its bit of an unknown area.
Do you think its because her throat would still be sore or because her nose is completely blocked making it hard to feed?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Oh and PS.... I'll be testing in the morning so :fingerscrossed: for a :bfp:
Tabby

Korah: All the best for a :bfp:. will have fingers crossed for you as well. are you overdue AF?
Regarding the tonsillitis, if any thing she would be refusing solids not the milk if it was from that, when mine were bad fluids were the only thing, solid food hurt like hell! and even then towards the worst of it I couldn't even swallow my own saliva and usually ended up hospital dehydrated on a drip. So...doubt if its related, have you tried milk before solids? then less solids as well..Thats about all can think to try at the moment..
Ellembee: She sounds just like Katie, loves everything and is on meat now as well, fish tonight with the veg and loved it! She also had some of my satay chicken kebab hehe she was gobbling it down. In case I dont say it later..Hope you have a lovely holiday and some nice romantic nights in there..good luck with the convincing too :D
Karrina: argh sure hope theres no dramas regarding house for you..
katie has been a non stop chatter box today/night..if only could get a mum in there though!!! everything else but lol

Cat...hope Cam is still behaving and taking his medicine. Another thought would be to let him play with the seringe, putting it in his mouth etc.
Korah...How do you manage a sleept in 'til 8.30? 5-5.30 is our standard get up time:banghead: . Good luck with the BFP today!
Sebmum...welcome
Cordelia...hope you're ontop of the conjunctivitis. If the warm salty water iisn't working, you can buy 'Bleph' over the counter at the chemists, or you'll have to get a prescription. Either way, lots of handwashing is needed, and don't touch your eyes!
Karrina...:hugs: hope your X starts to make things easier for you soon.
Charis...the selflessness continues for some time. In my case I've forgotten what I liked to do when there weren't kids and their needs to take care of.
Although we had a lovely day here in Perth on Sat, there was no zoo for us:no: . I went back to bed at 8 and slept 'til 12.30 and DD1 slept most of the day too. I think we are over the worst of our colds.
My wee bugger continues to cat nap during the day and wake twice at night for feeds. That, and screaming during solids. Don't know if it's more teeth on the way or what?!
Big sleeps people,
Lisa
sorry for not posting much. things have been hectic.
Got a call Saturday night to say my dh's Grandpa was being rushed to hospital with severe pain. We spent the night wondering what was going on, thinking that he could be dying (he had a similar story 3 years ago and nearly died that time).
Then, 8am Sunday morning my mum called to say that MY Grandma had died a couple of hours earlier. It was unexpected and I'm really glad we made it up to see her in Queensland only last month! It had been over 2 years since I'd seen her and she got to meet Josh, which is great.
Dh's Grandpa came home by lunchtime Sunday and he has a diagnosis of prostate cancer, but it should be treatable, so at least we had good news there.
Josh is doing well. He started solids 3 times a day yesterday for the first time. The milk feeds during the day are getting further and further apart, so that's great. He saw the paed today and he weighs 9.25kg! My little heffalump :). The paed was happy with his progress.
tabby ... a belated happybirthday to you!
korah ... if you are only getting 120ml of milk in per day, then I suggest you take her to the doctor today. That's nowhere near enough and I'm sure you're doing your best with liquids with solids, but she needs more than that. Babies get dehydrated quickly and at this age they should be getting 1L of liquid per day. It isn't that you are doing anything wrong, you seem to be working hard at trying to get her to drink more, but she's sick and you aren't expected to work miracles.
Better go ... I've got a lot to do and Josh is sound asleep, but I doubt that will last as he usually screams most of the day after seeing the paed (cause he gets his tummy pushed).

hi everyone,
well I had great plans to post a bit more often but that hasn't happened has it?
happybirthday belatedly Tabby, sounds like you had a nice weekend and thanks for the Father's day reminder!!
Wow, all these new smilies...what is this one for?? :snow:. I'm definitely in :hair: mode at the moment regarding sleep. After the initial fantastic response to the Baby Whisperer program, everything went majorly downhill and we had five nights of waking 1 to 1.5 hourly. Nights are sort of back on track with usually 3 wakings including one feed around 1/2ish but days are dreadful. DH seems to be able to get Hamish to sleep but I can't! Well, I can get him to sleep but only for half hour catnaps, maybe 45 mins if we're lucky. Then screams and hysteria if I try to get him back to sleep. Its really doing my head in. I don't know what's worse, me being unable to cope or Hamish not getting any sleep? At the moment it seems to be both. Anyway, we're booked into the day sleep training at Ngala but they can't fit us in until 11 September so hope we'll survive until then.
Sorry to rant. I know others are having bad sleep times too. How are you going Mousebrown??
Oh dear, Hamish has just discovered the video + dvd players for the first time. Can't do much to a dvd box though so that's ok. Just waiting for him to notice the three shelves of cds at baby eye height! Too preoccupied with his toys atm.
Question on solids - I was worried that vegemite has a high salt content but lots of you seem to be doing the vege soldiers. Do you think its ok? We haven't done toast yet, or meat. I've just stated giving H tofu for protein as its a lovely jellyish texture. He loves it with a bit of grated cheese and avocado or veges. Hippie child in the making!!
all the best and thanks for the routines, its good to compare. Hope XDP is ok Karrina, and hope Caitlin and Cordelia you get on top of your conjunctivitus.
kx
oh, and :fingerscrossed: for those trying for a BFP. Blimey, can't imagine it at the moment but I'm about to become a step grandmother again (no.2) - being induced on 4 September.

Thanks again all for the birthday wishes. xxx
Freddie: sorry to hear such dreadful sleeps for yous! Hope that clinic helps :fingerscrossed:
I only put a smidgen of vegimite, just enough for taste..I think thats ok? other days I use cream cheese or a smidge of jam.
Korah: how did the test go? yay or nay???
Mim: so so sorry to hear of grandmas passing, :hugs: to you. lovely that she got to meet the little man before it.
MouseB: You must have all needed that back to bed sleep..No wonder with your sleepless nights its bound to catch up, hope it improves soon for you xx
Cheeki: wow sounds like you have it all worked out, I admire you and anyone else with multiples thats for sure!
Got a neat pamphlet at the baby expo and has lovely meals in it for Katie, tonight we try zucchini and tomato pasta...mmm wonder if can make a mummy portion? lol
others are: creamy chicken with broccoli and tuna bake!
also grabbed a eggplant to make her some bolognese with that and some mince
jeeze DP is going to wonder whats going on here, even he doesnt get fed that good

Mim, Sorry to hear about your grandma.
Freddie, hope you get the sleep issues sorted quickly. I am lucky, I get up multiple times in the night to replace a dummy but can usually have us both back to sleep within minutes if I don't dilly dally. The little bugger isn't upset at all, just thinks if he wakes up it's time to play! Thanks for the tip on tofu!!!
Tabby, your recipes sound delish. I have got a huge pot of veges on the simmer now with some organic chicken. I strain the liquid and cook macaroni in it for DS1 and now I can use the mashed veges for M's food. Today it has carrot, onion, swede, parsnip, celery, potato, zucini, parsley & garlic. Will have to remember to buy some risoni next grocery trip!
Korah, can't wait to hear about another :bfp:
Charis, MM's (mere males) hardly ever understand the selflessness. Whenever my kids are happy I feel happiest now! Although some days I do love them more when they are asleep LOL. Glad you and H's Dad are getting on!
Karrina, You always sound so upbeat when you must be going through lots right now! Your 2 little ones are lucky to have such a strong mummy!

Freddie- I know the feeling re the short sleeps. You just get to have a shower and dry yourself and it seems they're at it again.. Today I heard Alexander scream and found him almost impaled by the bars on the cot!
We are lucky. The night times for us are good. (Still no 12 hour block of sleep but I'm not a dreamer.. he's like me.. i am happy on a short amount of sleep!!)
A woke last night at 8.45pm screaming (???!!) and didn't resettle til around 9.30am but then slept until 6.20am. Today he has had three 1 hour sleeps where he normally has about 4 hrs per day in two blocks. He even fell asleep in swing (put him in it as he was sicking up his lunch..) for about 40 mins- he's only done that a few times in his life.. weird!
RE solids vs milk first, i have had to start doing solids first at lunchtime as it's so hard if we are out- breastfeeding at 11 then solids at 12pm- very hard if shopping or out and about as you don't get to get anything done.

Hi Everyone
I joined up to this group then didn't get a chance to get back online until now! So slack I know.
Thanks for all the lovely 'welcomes'.
Can anyone give me some advice re 'controlled crying' (or is it 'controlled comforting'?). My DD wakes about 2 - 3 times per night and the only way I can cope with it is to just feed her. I have tried to let her cry but it just feels wrong so I end up going in, she gets all excited to see me and I end up feeding her. She doesn't really need the feed, I can tell as she's only on the breast very briefly then she gives me that very cheeky 'I always get what I want' look and goes back to bed. If I leave her, she goes absolutely BERKO and screams like she's being attacked by bees or something!
This continues throughout the night and I am EXHAUSTED by the morning and she usually doesn't have her first BF until about 9.30-10am (because she's been having milkshakes all night long!!!).
I know waking 2-3 times is good compared to the 7 or 8 times I used to have to get up when she was about 4 months old. But I'm at the stage now where she's so active during the day and I'm running around so much that I really need some good quality sleep at night. She usually only has a couple of 45 min sleeps during the day and this isn't long enough to get anything done really (pureeing:chef:, washing, cleaning, emailing, etc).
A friend of a friend told me to try CC as she said it really worked for her. I'm just not sure if I'm strong enough to do it but I know that I can't go on like this. I don't want DD to think this is how the night time sleeps are going to be.
Can anyone give me some advice?

twice in one day!!
thanks for the thoughts everyone. Sebmum, sounds like you're going through a similar thing to me. I was BF every wake for the same reason but managed to cut down pretty easily using the Baby Whisperer method which is sort of controlled comforting. Even though we're still having trouble we've come a long way so I would recommend the book: 'The Baby Whisperer solves all your problems' (not)....If you can get through one night with no, or minimal (say one) BF then day feeds will improve and she will be less hungry at night. That worked for us anyway.
Tabby I think I picked up the same pamphlet: the 'Yummy scrummy in your tummy cookbook'?? Makes my current meals look pretty boring! Am planning to start with the bolognese recipe I think. Oh, but I might just swing by Charis' place for some of that organic chicken.. yum!!
Had a better afternoon so feeling less despondent, just sleepy.
later all.

Sebmum, CC is very hard (well I can't do it) Avoiding eye contact when you go in to settle is one key point. Try rolling her onto her side and patting her bottum till she goes quiet, gradually slow the pats and reduce strength and when she is calm leave. This may take a while at first but gradually the patting won't take as long and she will learn to put herself back to sleep. That's the theory anyway! We use a dummy and I have to get it to M quick so he will nod back off (must get rid of it soon)

21-08-2007, 06:25 PM
Thanks SAMMYG and FREDDIE for your replies. I will give it a go. Sometimes in the past I've tried to do the rolling on the side thing but she just resists so much, arching her back and wriggling around like a crazy baby, that I find it really hard to keep her in that position.
Also, because our cot is a hand-me-down, the sides weren't working properly when we got it so we had to screw them into place. So now they don't just click up and down. Unfortunately, they're fixed in the up high position so I almost break my back leaning over to try and comfort her. Maybe she would get a new cot?:(
Anyway, will let you know how I go. Fingers crossed it works as I can't go on like this...:fingerscrossed:

Wild at heart, 4 hours sleep a day would be heaven. Lately C is only having 2 naps of 20-45mins. At least he is sometimes falling asleep for those sleeps on his own now although we still have our battles. And Freddie, we also had a week or 2 of the hourly waking but back to 1-3 times a night since then with 1-2 feeds. If I'm quick enough can sometimes settle without the feed.
Sebmum, it's a personal choice but most versions of CC do not sit well with me. There are many different variations though so I guess it's a matter of what you are actually comfortable with. My view is the gentler the better.
The book 'No-cry Sleep Solution' that I ordered weeks ago finally arrived so I'm off to start reading that now and see if it has any useful suggestions. Will report back if it does :fingerscrossed:
Mouse, the feeding spoon was working for C's medicine until C seems to have gone off his solids a bit. And can anyone tell me why the only thing he won't put in his mouth is the finger food I've tried to offer him!
Tabby, those recipes sound yum. Finally gave C his first taste of beef, was cooking a casserole for us so did a simpler version for him.
Mim, sorry to hear about your grandma but so nice she got to meet Josh.
DH just checked on C because he was finally quiet 90mins after being put to bed - he was very tired but chose to talk to himself & play with cot bars rather than sleep. Anyway, he is now  only he is on his tummy & out of his wrap with head right up against the top of his cot. Do I leave him like that? Move him and hope he doesn't wake? Will probably leave him, I'm sure he'll be awake in a few hours either way!
Nite all.
cathy ... I turn josh over when he's on his tummy if it's overnight, otherwise i leave him. He doesn't do it much. If he's still wrapped he gets turned back over ... on his tummy whilst still wrapped is a no-no. Don't quite know how he does it though!
sebmum ... sorry I forgot to welcome you - WELCOME!! I'm still feeding Josh about twice a night. He's starving overnight and REALLY grumpy until I feed him and then he's quite happy to go back to sleep. I've tried resettling him and telling him he's only imagining that he's hungry, but usually he's really wanting food in another half hour, so I just feed him (assuming it's over 3 hours since a feed) and we are both asleep again within 30 - 45 minutes. We have tried settling in the cot by patting the bottom, etc and I've found it to be uncomfortable (even with a cot side that works), and it rarely works. I do however pick him up, rock in the rocking chair and pat his bottom. That works well. I use this method if I don't think he's hungry (eg. at the 2 hour post feed mark).
Josh has had reasonable sleeps today and hasn't screamed at all! :smiliedance: That's the first time we've had a good day after visiting the paed! I think his reflux is improving!!!
Tabby
21-08-2007, 09:11 PM
Freddie; Yep! thats the book, and I must say did she LOVE her chicken and broccoli in cheese sauce (creamy chicken and broccoli) Had it for lunch and dinner and "mm yumm" ed all through it lol. It did taste VERY yummy too, might make a bigger batch and serve mine before mashed hehe
Also it was so easy and quick to make and with leftovers frozen for two more later.
Have the tuna ready for her tuna bake tomorrow.
Cat: If was me I would move...but thats just me, cant sleep if I dont make sure on the back and tucked in right for the night.
Sebmum: As Sammy says, the eye contact is a must, I know that after weeks of Katie not going down happily for day naps & another Mum on here helped me and it was the ONE thing I was missing and it worked first go!!! Its a bit hard finding where the dummy should go without looking though lol. Ours was easy as no real CC involved as she didnt get to cry..once I worked out the missing piece it all fell into place & Katie has never been a crier helps.
anyhow, all the best and hope all the advice works for you :fingerscrossed:
Mim: Thats great news! Hope the reflux sure is improving...Must do soon anyhow aye?
Katie's has been gone since 3 meals a day. Not as severe as Josh's though obviously, but did read once solids and sitting up more it should ease/go ?
Little miss was woken by the dog only 15 minutes into arvo nap but she was still happy so up she stayed, nap was at 4, woken 4-15, bed at 8pm!! She was still full of beans when I put her down but knew she would crash lol yup out like a light in minutes.
Good sleeps to all!! xx

Cat - would love to know what you think of the no-cry sleep solution and also whether you think it's appropriate for our age bubs or they're getting a bit big now...? Ta!!
yeah - I think you have to try what works and CC is definitely a non-worker for Caitlin. we tried it for a few nights and it just took hours and hours. She resettles herself in the night really well and now that we have a better routine it takes about 5 minutes of cuddling and singing until she's in a deep sleep. But yeah, I definitely think the routine is the secret.
re: conjuctivitis - we are just dandy now! Thanks for your advice everyone.

 hello all, it's been way too long!!
TABBY- Happy belated bday to you happybirthday !!
Sounds like Katie is getting a lovely variety of food. I'm tossing up whether to try X with some meat as here in Canada they recommend meat no earlier than 10 months!! Hmm, think I might just stick to oz guidelines, as he stares and drools when we're eating it.
Welcome SEBMUM! It's always great to have another mummy to compare out trials and delights of our everchanging creatures.
FREDDIE that's so great you got booked into Ngala, My chn advised me to do the same, but wouldn't have got in before we had to leave. Hope thtey have some great solutions for you. We've actually been alright in the sleep dept. for awhile, except the last 3 nights he's been waking at 3am, screaming for an hour, then I finally realized that yes he was hungry. Haven't been feeding at nite really as X has decided to be mainly bottlefed, so thinking it's growth spurt related.
Ya it seems like most of our bubs are very inconsistent with this sleep thing!!
MOUSE- you are in my thoughts, I just can't imagine working and dealing with another kid and being so sleep deprived!! Surely something's gotta give soon!!
Have you Perthies had another meet yet since our last one??? I'll be sure missing those, still haven't got myself into any sort of mothers group here or anything, but there's heaps of things like that. My sis really would like me to bring X to gymboree with her and my niece, but no offence to those that do go. I just really don't see the point of paying to go and play, with not much interaction with other babies, when I could just go play with him for free at the park- anyway I guess something social would be good.
CHARIS- so good to hear you and H's dad are on friendly terms at the moment. Surely H can pick up on those vibes, and he will thrive even more!!
To all those who are trying the various no cry books etc; let me know if one actually works, for say longer than a week. I'm sure i've missed quite a bit, sorry for leaving anyone out, too much to read back so far.....
take care all mummy's and bubs!!

I just love sharing how badly C is sleeping because so often he proves me wrong the very next day.
I did leave him on his tum unwrapped. Not tooo concerned becasue he can roll himself over now and still a balmy 24 degrees in his room at night. And he slept until 2am! Mind you it was not fun when he woke, he really did not want to be awake, did a giant wee fountain during nappy change so had to fully strip him down & redress and then FINALLY feed to sleep. Which he did until 5.30 when he called out and needed picking up and patting over teh shoulder to be resettled than slept again until 7am. What joy. Usually at least 2 resettles before midnight and wake up for the day by 6.
And he's just waking now from a two hour nap after falling asleep on his side. Definitely seems to be choosing against back sleeping and sleeping better for it.
Cordelia, have only just started reading the book but  so far and it caters for all ages, definitely not something you can only start when they are tiny. It is not a quick fix though and aims for gradual slow improvements.

Aries; Wonderful to hear from you! Was thinking of you the other day and wondering how you all were.
Things sound great! Am introducing either tuna (tuna bake) or the spag bog tonight.
Shes had the spag before but only some of ours, with hers I plan on grating some carrot and zucchini into it for more veg.
I was right, DP came home to see me cooking and said something about how she gets better meals than him, mind you he wouldnt even eat half of it! Hence why his meals are quite "boring"??! fussy as.
A prime example was he said before he likes carrots, so I made honey baked carrots for us..yep you guessed it, pushed to the side and said he "didnt feel like them tonight" GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Cat: ah the memories of little boys and their fountains of pee LOL. Funny unless its in the early am...
Cordelia: yay glad the eyes are all better.
I had some retail therapy yesterday and got Katie some lovely new spring outfits from bigW. Also some cute as pj's! Today she has on her new trendy pants with a frill on the bum, so cute!
Oh and more retail therapy tomorrow, belated pressie from ds1 for me, a clothes shopping trip!!! and boy do I need some new clothes.
Also started the good eating again today,, have been very naughty and paying for it..feeling like cr@p! After just yesterday of being good I feel almost 100% better!

Quick sleep update from us. Cat, I bought the No Cry Sleep Solutions book and took it back cos I thought it was !@#$@!#...probably something about my state of mind but there is NO WAY we were ever going to get away without crying. I found the Baby Whisperer gave much better and more detailed explanations and included feeding etc. as well. Hope it works for you though!
Well it seems that the harder I try and the more effort I put into this sleep business, the worse it gets. I can hardly seem to settle Hamish at all now, I think he knows that he just has to keep yelling and eventually I will pick him up. This morning seemed like a dream - straight to sleep without any protest at all. BUT, awake and screaming 5 minutes later and wouldn't be settled so I just left him and went and cooked dinner....CC as a measure of last resort I think. Well he kept going for 20 minutes but eventually went to sleep and has been asleep for 50 minutes which is superb given the last few days have been 30 minutes and before that 45 max.
Happy shopping Tabby. I've got a Garden City gift voucher from my birthday yet to spend but can't seem to find the time to get there. Will have to move on it! Off to see Bob Dylan tomorrow night (3rd row middle!!!), first time out at night without Hamish! He'll probably be an absolute  for his nanna and she'll wonder what all my fuss is about.
Well i know I'm supposed to keep H on his routine and wake him at 11 for lunch but today I think I'll just see how long he sleeps for.
Sorry to rant but its good to get it out of my system. No-one else seems very interested!

Rant away freddie! Especially if it makes you feel better. Sometimes just helps to know you are not alone.....and as good as C is being tody (fell asleep for his afternoon nap within 30 seconds of being put down!) chances are I'll be in the same place you are tomorrow. If only I could work out what it is that makes the difference between being a sleeping  one day and defiant sleep :devil6: the next.
Actually, starting to suspect I may know part of the answer. Will share my wisdom after a few more days of testing & observation. :detective:

Cat..you can't leave us hanging like that....I'm ready for any theories at the moment. ANYTHING to get a full nights sleep.
Freddie...:hugs: hope H starts to get better night sleeps soon. I know that nights are the hardest, so maybe just go with the flow during the day. TJ often sleeps in dribs and drabs throughout the day and I just put her on the play mat and continue to do what I've got to do (something I learnt with DD1 who only ever slept in 30 min increments during the day). Since TJ and DD1 have got over their colds, we are back to 2 night feeds 10.30-11 and 2-2.30.
Vegemite...I think it would be un-Australian to feed bub vegemite on toast, and as they get older a vegemite sandwich can be a lifesaver. DD1 lived on them for a few weeks, ate nothing but.
Sebmum...I'm looking for the same night feed answers. I can't do the controlled crying thing. And more often than not, TJ won't resettle without a feed. One thing I am trying (hard for you BF ladies) is reducing the amount of milk in her bottle during the night feed. Theory is you reduce it down to 60ml, then cut it out altogether. I guess bub learns to get through the night with less and less milk. :fingerscrossed: it works.
Tabby...will have to get some of those recipies off you, as they sound yummy!
:babydust2: sleep dust for everyone,

Hi everyone
:hugs: to all those having sleep issues. I had the same problems with DD1. She would never sleep longer than a couple of hours overnight & only 20mins-1hr during the day. It drove me crazy. We did end up going to a community day stay where they watch what bubs did when put down to sleep & taught us what to do but i dont think it worked very well. They basically said, just leave them to cry, (only going in a couple of times) & doesnt matter how long it takes to keep doing it. I hated doing this to DD1 cos she would get so distressed. I ended up not doing it. She still isnt a good sleeper, still doesnt go to bed when i tell her too. Sierra has been great compared to DD1. I just put her down for her nap or night sleep & she will just fall to sleep herself, no crying at all. Anyway i hope you all find a solution as to what works & doesnt work for you & hopefully soon!
Just got back from an hours walk with the girls. DD1 rode her bike & DD2 & Sierra were very happy in the pram. Its actually sunny here today, so it was nice to get out of the house & get some fresh air. DD2 is sick again  We all have had the sniffles but you all know that DD2 gets it worse than all of us. Her breathing isnt the best but not very bad just yet so hopefully it doesnt get any worse. Not much else happening really. My brothers wife had her first scan today. She is 8wks & 1 day, due on the 1st of April. Everything is going well so far they said. So that was good news. She has polycystic ovary syndrome or whatever its called, so the obs are extremely happy that she has made it this far.

Hi everyone
Sleep - G still wakes for one feed at night - anywhere between 9.30pm and 3.00am. Which is really fine by me - she will get there (it is a vast improvement). I actually think she is hungry as like someone else said (sorry, I forget who) if she wakes within 2 hrs of a feed I can resettle but have no hope otherwise. Am hoping the recent addition of protein may help things. A few friends have told me that their bubs didn't sleep through until there was a fair bit of protein in the meals - one friend added protein to all 3 meals (egg, lentils and then meat) and then her DD slept through.
Food - Wasn't fussed on chicken, but likes veal and lamb. Think I have a real carnivore on my hands!
No other news from me. :hugs: to all those having settling issues.

Hmm well I thought I did a post yesterday but it must have got lost in cyberspace somewhere
it was a :bfn: on the test and it looks like AF is about to arrive [even if I keep telling myself it might be implantation spotting haha]
Macy is well and truly on the mend. She went back to childcare today after a good day at home yesterday. Her feeds are back up to normal. I think it was just the fact she couldnt breath through her nose at all that was putting her off her bottle
A suggestion for the sleep issues - my friend took her bubs to a 'sleep expert' when he was about 7 months old because he would wake frequently during the night and was bluntly told that she wasnt feeding her baby enough. The 'expert' told her to let him eat as much as he wanted for dinner. The first night he had a jar of babyfood and 2 tubs of yoghurt and slept through. They havent looked back since. Could be another thing to try and cross off the list...
I also did controlled crying with DS when he was about this age. I had to take baby steps cause Im a real softy so started off with 30 secs of crying before I would go in and pat him until he was calm [not asleep] and then leave the room again. From memory I think I built this up by 15 seconds a night and even timed it so I wouldnt give in. I would only pick him up if he really lost it
The best thing you can do is find something that works for both of you and will work for you in the long run so that they have consistency
Keep trying:hugs:

ahhh stupid sleep.. could be the change of season maybe? I agree with feeding them heaps and heaps.. altho caitlin is not a big eater. I'm over these 4am wake-ups... she's absolutely starving...
I have those recipes too Tabby - we had the bolognaise tonight.. altho i pureed it coz i don't think she's quite up to that chunky. She looooved it.. (only had pasta, mince and tomato in it mind!).. I have the ingredients ready to go for the tuna and the chicken too.. tuna?!?!? I can't believe I'm actually going to feed her that.. I've never eaten it!! Not a seafood lover at all.. but dont want her to turn out like me.
Nappy Rash - first time here today.. any tips??
What would I do without my bubhub!!
PS Perth Mum's - I haven't forgotten that I said I'd host the next meet.. things are a bit hectic around here but in next few weeks?? Not sure of days - mon, tue or wed morning?

Arha there is a  smilie..I think this sums up the days topics. Oh Tired Mummy, v sorry to hear that yr DD1 is snuffly again, also that she still doesn't go to bed when told to.... you see I think I still think..another month and all those 'bad' things will be gone..of course I've been thinking that for 7months now... he he. I love that you took the book back Freddie!! As for levels of interest, it is pretty much right up there for us all. And we all look forward to knowing how all are going..and what Tabby is cooking! Absolutely! Oh and I had a bit of a giggle too and completely agree MouseBrown, how could you do that Cat13..!! he he he..the ' I have a fair idea' but will see if it works again. OH hanging.
ARIES my dear so wonderful to hear from you. WHAT bottle?!! That must have been liberating for you. I do agree about the gymbaroo/baree and not to offend anyone, but its not for me either..despite paying for this term. Missed the last two weeks. It is too fast and minimal interaction between the kids. Maybe when they are older??
Korahblue it may still be a :bfp: but at least you will know clearly one way or other soon.. at least if AF now you know when its happening.
SebMum, I can't remember what it was but your post yesterday (?) was the funniest.. two things that just made me LOL!
Thanks for the replies about selflessness and also about their Dads understanding (or not understanding)how their happiness is more important than ours.
Another big topic : Hunters Nana is feeling v rejected by H crying when he's with her and is attributing grown up feelings to Hunter just wanting his Mum (or Dad!)
Happy happy nights all. I have no idea what time H gets up at night now. Am too asleep, just try to put dummy in or if that doenst work in about a second hoist him into my bed for food/sleep. I don't wake up properly, or enough to find out the time!Sometimes he's in my bed from 2am- for a brief brief week he was 'sleeping through' and it was just the morning feed..Anyone else in this nether space?
Freddie give my love to Bob Dylan!!! Lucky thing!! :smiliedance: for a meet at Cordelias.. Mon or Tues am can good for me.. night night.

Hi Ladies
Sorry no personals this time. I tryed Talon with Tuna last night and he didn't like it one bit. Will try him again tonight. He was tired last night maybe thats why he didn't want to eat it. How knows.
Anyway better run. He's crying for a bottle. Have to take DSD to children's hospital in Brissy today got to be there by 11am.

morning everyone!
Josh is sick :( Just a cold, but it meant he was up and down til 3am :(. He also isn't feeding well, so I nearly got mastitis overnight. He's stopping feeding after one side, so I'm having trouble working out when to feed him. The little rascal is getting plenty of milk somehow though cause he's leaked out of his nappies twice overnight - the first time in months! So, he's now in bigger nappies.
I've got a big interview in the city tomorrow for work for next year and I'm really hoping I get some sleep tonight and mostly that I don't end up with a cold or mastitis. Josh is getting checked by the doctor this afternoon to make sure it isn't his ears.

Morning everyone,
Well as soon as i opened my mouth about Sierra being a good sleeper.. what happens? lol. Last night she was very croupy (sp?) so went down at 6pm, woke at 11pm, stayed awake until 1am, woke again at 5:20am, then again at 7. So not like her. And inbetween all that DD1 & 2 kept waking up as they have bad colds too. DD1 hated having a blocked nose & was waking up crying every 1/2 hour - 1hr & DD2 was so weazy & coughing so much that she would start sooking after she stopped coughing. Finally some ventalin calmed her coughing down. So not much sleep here last night. DH has just started getting the cold too but his boss has been off work for the last 3 days with the flu as well & will be off again tomorrow, so poor DH is extremely busy & feels crappy at the same time.
On a brighter note... I booked the girls in to have some photos done. Need some of Sierra & wanted to get a couple of all the girls together. Thats not until half way thru september so hopefully we will all be recovered by then & not get any other colds before then.
Hope you all have a good day... sorry no personals yet. Havent read the last couple of pages yet lol.

Mim: Sorry to hear Josh has a cold too, hope hes feeling better soon.
Freddie: Big :hugs: and hope you get the sleep sorted soon hun
Strawberry_Shortcake: How did you serve the tuna? Maybe with a few more things added might help?
Cordelia: Katie LOVED her tuna bake! Must say so did I on taste test and im not a huge tuna lover but it was rather yummy.
Nappy rash, go the curash powder! and as much nappy free time as possible, should work.
Anyday AM is fine for me Perth meet
Charis: awww poor Nanna, thats a hard one, really needs to just accept that they very often become mummys/daddys little man/girl at this age no matter who wants to hold them.
Korah: aww sorry to see a :bfn:but as you say AF arival maybe so at least youll know where your at, im still in limbo land!!!! bloody frustrating, AND I keep bding cos I have no clue when Ovulation lol, rather say no sometimes so can sleep, if you know what I mean but have to say yes incase eggies on the way!
Ellembee: Katie didnt like chicken when first tired it either, maybe try again in a couple months cos now she loves it.
Mouse: ill scan those recipes if you like and pm me a email to send to if want them now or wait till perth meet? whatever suits you.
Better go, Katies down for morning nap and when awake we are off shopping, ds1's birthday pressie for me, a clothes shop!
Perth meet: If anyone else wants a copy those yummy recipes let me know ill copy some more out, highly recommend them as easy and tasty, and can be changed depending on bubs preference, sloppy or chunky etc
Love to all

Hi all, Sorry no personals, I have had like 5 pages to read, my eyes are wide open and I feel now like I have been hit by a train!!!
I have been off line over the last few days, just busy with school and been really tired when I get home. I am off today, But have already been out and about.
DD1 was in the eisteddford this morning playing the recorder. I paid my $5 for the ticket and asked where the recorder section was. I was told to go up the stairs and into the main theartre. I got in, sat with Bridget and watched 2 performances, then they breaked for recess. Bridget was a little unsettled so I went and asked when DD1's performance would be on, only to be told her section was playing in City Hall!!, So I ran down stairs to City Hall and got in just as DD1 was walking off the stage!! I was so heartbroken, I was almost in tears!!:crying: It is just so upsetting; when you work you miss out on so much, I was just lucky enough to be on my day off when this performance was scheduled... and I still missed it.
Sorry to carry on, it just makes me sad!
Anyhow, we are doing well, Bridget is almost crawling. She gets about, just comando style though! It is so cute, when she sees something, she heads for it! Oh Charis, Bridget has discovered the Video player too! All the other equipment is up thankgod, the video player lives on a shelf under the tv. Might be time for a move.
Better go, I am meeting a friend for lunch so I need to get myself organised. Hope you are all well.

I can't do it either as Alex gets really riled up when we go into him that he starts choking/ spluttering to teh point where he can't sleep as his nose is so stuffed up! Works better for us if we leave him if he is just grizzling as he often puts himself back to sleep!
wild at heart
23-08-2007, 11:18 AM
And can anyone tell me why the only thing he won't put in his mouth is the finger food I've tried to offer him!
.
I find alex won't eat his solids properly when he is tired! I dunno if that helps at all!?

Hi everyone, sorry about the short messages before..
We are all having crappy sleeps it seems.. aaargh.. it's yucky.
It's almost cyclonic here and raining.. whihc i think is great weather for sleep. Why doesn't bubby agree????
Is it true about feeding more= longer sleeps? Has anyone found this to be true? I bet we will be trying this out tonight. I always worry about overfeeding alex as he could eat and eat and eat.. but I weighed him at home today and he is 8kg approx.. so maybe he's not soo chunky.. he he.
Oh I almost forgot.. WELCOME sebsmum..

Tabby, thanks for the recipes!
Us, well went back to the clinic for a weigh-in today. Blardy GP didn't have scales when I was there a couple of days ago. Anyway I was right, M is taking 4-5 180mls bottles a day now and he loves his solids 2-3 meals of 3 cubes each. He put on over 700g in a fortnight so the slow weight gain previously was just him adjusting! I feel on top of the world!:smiliedance: Last night M crashed at 5:30pm and I warned DH he would be up anytime sfter 8pm for a bottle. I went out and he woke up just as I got home at 9:30pm (great timing as DH was passed out after a big work day) M fed and played in bed till around 11pm and then suddenly it was 5:15am and DH's alarm is going off! M stirred then resettled till 7am - HEAVEN!!!

Hehe...sorry to leave everyone hanging with my dramatic statement about working out what makes C a good sleeper or bad on any given day. Definitely didn't mean to imply that I have any miracle solutions. If only!! Just a few little things that give C the best chance of falling asleep on his own:
- definite wind down time of at least 20mins before nap/bed. eg sitting in highchair looking at fish tank or out a window, on floor with picture book with mum, car ride after being out & about, on a rug in the backyard watching trees/leaves move in the wind.
- don't put him to bed at the first sign of tiredness or there'll be a massive protest. Move on to quiet time first and wait until he's more tired but also calm.
- if he's overtired & cranky, try & distract & calm him before putting him down
- during the day, he must have at least one session of active floor/playtime between each sleep so he is both physically & mentally tired (and less likely to practice crawling in his sleep!)
So nothing groundbreaking and stuff you've already all probably worked out way ahead of me!
Wildatheart, I do think C often being tired by dinner is part of our problem with being a bit fussy with his solids & finger foods.
Such a shame about missing your daughters performance liviesmum & so annoying that they stuffed u around like that.
Sammy, sounds about the same amount that C is eating but as for milk I have no idea!
Mim, best of luck for the interview!
tiredmummy, hope everyone is cold/flu free well before photos next month!

Tabby...thanks for the recipies. TJ has been kicking up a stink at dinner time lately and I think we need to make her dinners more exciting.
Wild@Heart...don't (Wild@Heart...don't) know if the eat more=sleep more. TJ eats her fill at dinner but still doesn't sleep through.
Cat...LOL that the thought of a magic sleep solution had me eargerly checking for updates. Now that you mention the points, they fit for TJ too. Will have to start to pay more attention to her.
Cordelia...Mondays and Tuesdays suit me for a Perth catchup. You'll have to let me know what size clothes you're needing so I can do a quick clean out before we come. Be warned though, you'll have to bub-proof a little as TJ won't stay nicely on the mat any more.
Still two feeds last night, but the 11.45 TJ only had 40ml and at 3.30 only 120ml.

Hopefully tonight will be better. I think there were tummy ache issues last night as she seemed to have a bit of wind.

Not much to report here. Talon has 5 teeth now. Had to buy new teats today, he has put little holes in the ones he had. Cheeky little monkey. I also brought a recipe book today (Baby and Toddler food) so hoping to make T some yummy foods as he doesn’t like tin food. what a fussy bum I have lol.

Hi everyone
Gee its been ages since I was on!! I've only read the last few pages but will go back later and catch up.
SammyG - yeah for the weight gain and lucky you with the long sleep! Whats your secret, cmon you can tell me!
livies mum - sorry to hear you missed your DD's performance - I would have been crying. Hope the m/s has eased?
Korah - sorry to hear about the BFN. About the Eating=Sleeping well I stuff Coops with as much as I can and he still isn't sleeping through.
Tired*m - hope all of you with colds and sniffles get better soon and no hospital this time!
freddie - I use the baby whisperer too but I kinda adapt it to what works better for us. It really opened my eyes once I read it.
sebmum - welcome:smiliedance: I find when Coops is arching his back/wriggling him when I have him on his side patting him it means he just isn't ready to go to sleep yet. I usually take him back out for another 1/2 hour of quiet play in his room and then try again - much easier.
cat13 - so glad to hear Cam's op went well and he's on the mend! had to laugh at the wee fountain - thankfully I haven't had one in a while although now I've said that.......
mim1 - woohoo about the reflux finally sorting itself out! Good luck with the job interview tomorrow!!
aries - glad to hear all is going well!
Tabby - geez Katie sounds spoilt with all those yummy dinners. I think I will have to pick up my act! Thanks for the recipes!
Us - Well the last 3 mornings Coops has decided that about 5 is a great time to do a poonami! So gross and not the best time to do it!
He is still waking up at night and I've resigned myself to the fact that he'll sleep through when he is ready.
He has been sitting up since about 6 months and now has his 2 bottom teeth. I think his tops one are moving around a bit as he's been a bit grumpy y'day and today. Sorry I've forgotten who was offering the hospital grade teething gel but I might have to get some off you I think!
Well I have decided to start using MCN so I've been busy trying to understand all the lingo and get some to trial!
And I've got lots coming up in the ways of b'days - 2 of those being 1st birthdays in the next couple of months!
Anyways I think I've taken up enough of your time now. Chat later, Shaz :)

Hi
Lots to catch up on.
Mim - sorry to hear about your grandma. Hope josh is getting over his cold and your meeting about work went well.
sebum - hello. I know your post about cc was a few pages ago but I just had a tip....when DS was a baby I made a rule when we were trying to get him to sleep thru - that I wouldn't b/f him before 2am. If he woke before 2am I stayed in bed and DH got up and sorted him out. Might be worth a try.
Sleep - I hate listening to the kids cry too and I am by no means an advocate of CC BUT I do let Kelsey cry for a few minutes - maybe 5-7 mins before I go back in. Obviously if she sounds very distressed I would go in but if it is general crying I leave her. When I go in I NEVER pick up - just re-position and cover and leave again. However, she has always been pretty good about going to bed and if she cries it usually means teething or tummy ache.
Cat - On the subject of sleeping I was going to suggest you try a tummy sleep during the day time if you are worried. I found both of mine sleep better on their tummies and both have done since the day we got home from the hospital. if you are still wrapping just leave his arms free for a tummy sleep but give him the security in his legs. i agree with alot of points you have made regarding wind down time. With DS we used to turn the Tv off too as it is distracting and stimulates the brain. For me with 2 kids - wind down time is when I say "go to bed" ha ha! No, wind down time is me with a glass of wine!
For those of you with other kids - are you finding your bub laughs at them alot? Kelsey will be having a boob feed and hear DS laughing out in the back yard and she will just stop and have a big giggle. Also, if she hasn't seen DS for a little while and he come near her she gives a big squeal of delight - so cute.
Well, i have taken up enough space.
Tired mummy - hope your girls are feeling better!
Take care

Quite cute as I knew she could wear down the "tough teenager with no emotions" (Hes really a softie though!) lol

morning all,
Good luck for you interview Mim.
Well we had a momentous day yesterday! Got into Ngala (day sleep school) on a cancellation and it was really fantastic. We're doing all the right things basically but they have an infra red camera so you can watch bubs while s/he is in the room without disturbing them. The nurse talks you through the cries and the body language and helps understand them. The biggest thing for me is to know that what sounds like a distressed cry is really a cry of frustration/ anger at not being able to go to sleep. They advocate leaving them until they are getting distressed then going in and settling using mostly your voice and minimal physical contact. Apparently the latest theory on eye contact is to use it when they are in distress as it is important for them to know you are there. Don't use it when they are just looking around/ wanting to play etc. I learned that I am often stopping Hamish getting to sleep by interfering too much.
Well Wednesday morning I let him cry it out for 20 minutes as I really felt I'd got to a point where there were no other options. 20 mins was going to be my maximum and he fell asleep on the 20 min. mark and slept for and hour and ten minutes. This morning he went down with minimul fuss and is still asleep after an hour!! :fingerscrossed: We're on track.
Other momentous things from yesterday include an AWESOME concert, best seats I've ever had - middle and 3rd row from the front!! DH got an AWESOME new job offer, and contractions started for DSGS2 (step grandson no.2!) so we're awaiting news with baited breath.
phew.
Hope some of the above is of use re sleep issues . The other suggestion the nurse made was to swap milk/ solids around from about now and to feed solids on waking and milk before sleeping. I thought this was a no no but she said its ok as long as they are awake when they go into bed. SO, new routine will be something like:
BF on waking in the morning (back to sleep if earlier than 6.30am)
solids more or less straight after, or around 7.30/8
BF around 8.30 then bed at 9
up 10.30/11
solids
play
BF around 12.30/1.00 then bed when tired (from 1.00)
up around 3.00
solids
play
BF around 4.30 then nap if possible
bath around 6
BF and bed around 6.30/7
try to resettle in the night until at least 2.30 for night feed anywhere between 2.30 and 6.30
haven't tried it yet but hope it works! Theory is he can't be waking from hunger if he's had a drink before bed. Also, must make sure they have a drink of water during meals.
happy weekend everyone, sorry this has been SO long.
kx
ps Cordelia, thanks for the hosting offer, sounds great. Mondays are best for us and preferably later in the morning than earlier.

WARNING!! Verrry long post about sleep in general and also Elizabeth Pantley’s book “The No-Cry Sleep Solution” so feel free to skip to next probably much more interesting post! (Mostly long because I’m absolutely hopeless at explaining things briefly)
Have finished reading the “No-Cry Sleep Solution”. Overall, I think it is useful and wish I had read it much earlier. It will not be for everyone particularly those looking for a magic solutions, quick fixes or shortcuts. Ok I’ll admit I was hoping the book might hold one but I think we all know that such things just don’t exist. Doh! Nothing new or earth-shattering, just good practical advice we all think we know but tend to overlook because we feel so tired & busy. Sets out to be a bit of a workbook to help keep you honest & focused which contains logs to analyse bubs current sleep patterns and identify realistic goals, a range of suggested solutions to help accomplish these goals which mostly focus on getting bub to learn to fall asleep without your help which really does seem to be the key to helping mummies get more sleep and bub get better sleep (genuine hunger, illness & discomfort aside). Once you’ve come up with your plan of attack you then need to stick with it for at least 10 days when you then complete another log and can identify any progress. But you have to be prepared to commit to your plan even if in the beginning it seems you are getting even less sleep. Can’t expect things to change if you resort to the quick feed to sleep just so you can get back to sleep (or housework or favourite TV show) sooner (no matter how tempting!)
“No-cry” does not mean that there will be absolutely no crying. What it means is that while you are trying to implement change, if you or bub get distressed fine to revert to your usual settling method for that sleep. Just try again the next time & keep trying however many times it takes.
Suggested solutions include things like bedtime & nap routines, the introduction of key words/music as sleep cues and gradual step by step transitions for bubs who currently need to be fed/rocked/patted to sleep. Eg if you normally feed to sleep, on day 1 you would feed as normal but remove nipple just as bub is ALMOST in that deep sleep. If they startle & search for the nipple, give it to them then try again in 10-30 secs. If they get upset just feed to sleep as normal. Day 2, repeat the process. Over time you should see gradual improvement until you can remove the nipple earlier and earlier until you are able to put them to bed relaxed and sleepy but still awake. Again, nothing ground breaking but the book just reinforces that you need to be patient and persistent and not give up if there is no immediate improvement or if things even get worse initially.
TBH, what is suggested is not much different from how Cameron and I have arrived to where we are now (plus steps similar to the advice Freddie received at sleep school!). While things could still be much better, if I look at things objectively we have made SOOOOO much progress in the last 2 months. From frustration at spending entire days trying to settle him & and feeling heartbroken at his distress to no longer feeding to sleep every night (which TBH I didn’t mind however I think it was the main thing hindering falling asleep for naps) and falls asleep alone and quietly in cot for naps 90% of the time. Not always for very long which is still frustrating but that’s my next goal!
Anyway, hope this helps at least one person decide whether to buy or not-to-buy yet another sleep book!

Hey Cat, I'm all for a sleep solution that is based on the idea of bub not crying but in the back of my mind I am kinda thinking that it is important for baby to learn to settle THEMSELVES from crying (sometimes - not all of the time). I am by no means disagreeing with the person who wrote the book (who is obviously an expert and I'm not) but lets face it - kids are going to cry at bedtime at some point aren't they???? What do you do then?? What do you do in a month when they have learnt to manipulate you and give you a big grin every time you go in to settle??? Hmmmm - so many questions......Hope it works and I'm really interested to hear how you are going.
Speaking of sleeping - I can hear my little girl playing in her cot and not sleeping.

:smiliedance: Freddie. Hope things start to fall into place now for you.
Only one wake-up from TJ last night at 2.30. I had reduced her bottle to 140ml, but she left about 10ml anyhow. So :fingerscrossed: she's on the road to longer sleeps. She's also slept 'til 6.30 for the past two mornings, but I'm sure it will be a 5-5.30 wakeup call tomorrow as I can sleep in:hair: .
Have downloaded some more yummy recipes today, so i'm going to have to get busy cooking for TJ this weekend.
Have a great weekend and long sleeps,
Lisa
Thanks for all that sleep info everyone. Some good ideas there.
Josh had a really red throat when we saw the doctor yesterday, so once I dosed him up with panadol, nurofen, zantac and dimetapp :) he drank much better and seemed much happier. Poor baby was hungry, but everytime he swallowed the milk he had pain. He's much better today, still snuffly, still coughing a bit and still needing pain relief to drink properly, but at least he's smiling and playing and sleeping as usual.
My interview went well and I should find out by Monday if I get the job for next year. Yeah!
I've got Mother's Group here next Monday. Ironically the last time it was here Josh was sick too! This house is a disaster zone though and I suggested we make Father's Day cards and presents. How am I going to clean up? Eik! I suppose getting off the computer would be a good start.

I do know what you mean Flicka. Cameron does still have a little protest cry when I put him down but usually stops once he finds his thumb and I've left the room. Either that or he yells the house down LOL. And I do sometimes get that cheeky grin when I return but I just continue to try & settle him and hopefully he'll learn that there is never any play or escape from his room without a sleep so not worth the test.
The book also didn't have a solution for the baby that absolutely fights sleep and is almost impossible to get to sleep with ANY method. It sorta assumes you already have a no-cry way to get your baby to sleep, albeit a tedious one you can no longer continue.
Same as all my other books, won't be following to the letter, just going to pick & choose the bits I like!

This is a great well of information we have put together here regarding sleep issues.
Two nights running M has woken at around 9:30 - 10pm very playfully. Both nights I have given him a bottle and put him back down. Both nights he has slept through, he didn't even stir when DH got up this morning - just slept through till 7. M has been eating really good dinners these past couple of nights too!
I did, however have to get up with DS1 at 3:30am for a brief toilet trip (we are down to nappies at nighttime only- Hoorayyyy!!!)

Sleeping tips - thanks everyone for sharing the sleep tips.
We had another horrendous night last night - she woke up twice before 9.00pm really distressed, just like the night before.
oh well! Am just going to play things by ear until we get back from holidays and then I am seriously going to consider control crying.

Hope everyone is having a lovely morning. Don't worry, no more sleep talk. So over it after my latest ginormous post!
Not much happening, just taking a break from searching the net for a pattern for a bridesmaid dress which I should start making soon if I'm going to finish by December. I'm very bad for procrastinating.
Took Cameron to the beach for the first time late yesterday arvo and gave him his dinner down there. He always eats so well away from home and much less fussy in general. Took the dog too and he went nuts running up & down the shore and Cameron enjoyed the breeze in his hair and rubbing feet in the sand and having feet dipped in the water. Went there to join DH who was fishing with a friend/co-worker whose family turned up as well and we all had fish and chips for tea as the sun set. Very relaxing - until it got dark and the mozzies came out!

Cat: Your arvo/eveing out yesterday sounds lovely, cant wait for spring and to take Katie out to parks etc more often, We arnt far from the river where all the speed boat races are so am sure she will love it. The sun is trying to come out amongst showers here today, it actually has some warmth when it does. Will have to get a swing set sorted soon too. but the back yard is trashed from my pup (now has a locked in run) so lots of work needed there first.
Katie woke a couple of time last night, 10pm which took a cuddle to resettle and 4 am for the dummy, so unlike her but she still went till 7am and now had breaky and back to bed a hr and a half later! Shes starting to lift her bum and on her arms higher so maybe crawling is closer than thought and of course out the window goes sleep patterns on milestones.
Hope there was some better sleeps for those needing it and have a lovely weekend!

Hi everyone
hope you are all enjoying your w/ends?!
freddie - WOW! What a day you had! Glad to hear the sleeps are now improving.
Cat13 - geez that really was a long post! I did read it all though - promise! Its good to hear what other people do or advise they've read/been given. Sounds like a wonderful time at the beach too:thumbsup:
mousebrown/SammyG - great news about the better sleeping!
mim1 - I hope poor Josh is feeling better soon - poor bubba - :hugs:
Tabby - that sounds like my backyard (what am I talking about its not mine its the dogs!) Luckily I have a huge park just across the road - phew!
Well I whipped up some white sauce with parmesan through it yesterday and mixed it through some potato and I got heaps of mmmm's!! He hasn't been that keen on potato but as soon as that sauce was in it - whoa look out! I got the recipe of a website I found called Homemade Baby Foods. Hopefully I'm allowed to post a link so here it is http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/
It was sunny here this morning so I put a load of washing on and now its raining again :banghead: I hate using the dryer!
Well i found out today that if I try and put Coops on his tummy he just goes straight onto hands and knees! So I just let him be and he rocked for a little while - eek!
Anyways must get going - DH is due home from work soon and there is still **** everywhere! Oops!
Cheers, Shaz

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
Cat - Your evening out did sound nice - the weather has been great lately hasn't it?
I have finally started trying to cook meals the whole family can enjoy - including Kelsey. Last night was chicken and veggie soup. She had her first taste of chicken and loved it. Tonight we had pasta with a plain tomato and veg sauce which she enjoyed. Tomorrow night will be her first taste of stew with dumplings. I love it when they are able to share in the family meals.
Sleep talk - well Kelsey was a little pain and didn't want to go to bed tonight. She just rolled around in her cot playing with the sheets and blankets and squealing......naughty girl!!! Thank goodness she is asleep now so I'm off to have a cuppa!
Take care xxx

Flicka, fantastic that you can now cook family meals! Mealtimes are my least favourite time of the day! DS1 is impossible, would like me to spoon feed him indefinitely. I have to bribe this child of mine to eat a nutella sandwich (that is just not normal) This morning I explained that he was going to eat breakfast like a big boy and if he didn't eat it within 1/2 an hour it was going in the rubbish. Guess where it all went! I didn't let him have his usual after brekkie drink of milk but did offer food again at Morning T/ Early Lunch with a lot more success. Dinner took forever but am realising he needs lots of praise for every mouthful rather than threats for no eating. He has informed me that he will eat his "breakset" tomorrow - :fingerscrossed:
M on the other hand is loving his food. He tried 1/2 a cruskit today smeared with a little vegemite and wouldn't put it down! He was trying to grab DH's vita-wheats with vegemite too! So 3 meals plus finger food today - such a different eater compared to DS1 who wouldn't open his mouth for anything other than icecream as a baby!
Shazza, thanks for the link! I will be exposing M to as many foods as possible in the hope that he develops much better eating habits than DS1.

Happy end of weekends to all  I miss weekends more these days!
Ellembee I hope little one is recovering from whatever was waking her so much! eck! And I hope Katie is working through all that crawling development when asleep for you Tabby!! Gosh exciting time.
Had a little giggle too Flicka about Kelsey rolling/grinning/pulling sheets, yes that is Hunter on every sleep, unless he's already asleep or eyes v v close to asleep.
He's been sick with cold+elevated temp since playing with a little friend! And poor little grumpy with hot forehead was so sad on Friday that I bought some baby panadol. Well I tried it three times, and he chucked up torrents each time. And didn't get any in the end. That horrible cherry flavour, I'd sick it up too. ECK Poor bubby ended up in bed so sleepy but such an empty tummy too.So of course fed him again about an hour and half later. Has been ok since, oh, just a minute, like that's true  fine in days, but he's been waking 2/2.30/3/3.30/4/4.30 and last night he was in my bed most of that, me just stroking him and him falling asleep then coughing. eck! Still eating but today was less interested in food. hmm, I hope he gets better tomorrow. Seeing CHN Tues, if not better tomorrow will get to Dr. Gosh I sound like a bloke with a man-cold!! So So so so many feeling of sympathy for those with bubs with real illness, yes I know its just a cold. But is so sad isn't it.
Oh and we did go orienteering in the rain/wind this morning.. He was all rugged up (hat/jacket/jumper)and in baby bjorn and I think enjoyed it. 1hr+bit of carrying 8kg and walking cross country/up hills etc did certainly give my pelvic floor a bit of strife. I think he'll be walking the next time.
Am getting tired of gender roles..or maybe its just his Dad..who now has decided to start swimming squad training MWF just when H has T and goes to bed. The only time he sees him during the week. Then has the gall to say to me that it'd be good for me to get out and do stuff like I used to. Um when!??? Ecck. He said it was up to me to ask him to look after H, umm like he asks me to look after him 24hrs/7days a week. RANT RANT VENT VENT :gloomy: . Not really gloomy, as H's happiness is what makes me happy. Just wish his Dad would :wizard: magically explode sometimes. nighty night to all lovely ladies.
Oh and remembered the super funny bit you wrote SebMum, about your S having Milkshakes all night. he he. Hope all precious bubbies sleep sleep sleep. xxxx S

I hope all the bubbies slept well last night!!
Well alexander went from 6pm til 5.30am without a feed.. omigoodness my boobs were like rocks. I am soo proud of my little man. The bad thing is I have no idea why he slept so I can't replicate it tonight- lets hope he is a good boy for his mummy and sleeps lots tonight..
Mousebrown: how's TJ going? sleeping lots still?
Yeah for all that sleep!! 6pm til 5:30am! That is impressive!
Josh fed at 9pm, then not again til 4am! YEAH!! That's the best sleep he's had in ages. He's still sick, getting over a cold and sore throat. On Saturday he had a feed at 6am, solids (1/3 jar instead of a whole jar) at 10am, then 3 snack (ie. less than one side only) feeds until 6pm when he had his next proper feed. So, I decided he wasn't feeling 100% yet and dropped the solids again. I think I'll restart them tomorrow.
I've got Mother's Group here this afternoon. This place still looks like a bomb hit it and I thought I'd have time to clean this morning while Josh slept, but after only 1/2 hour of sleep he told me he wanted to get up! Little rascal!

wild at heart: Awesome sleep! Lets hope it continues for you.
Charis: So love how you said about how you dont ask to look after H, and the no-one asks us. Perfect response and oh so true.
Katie's starting to put the bum up so I think I was right! Will be washing floors every few days before I know it ! ARGH my most hated house job. Oh that and dishes lol.
The orienteering sounds such fun!!!! heh had a visual of H all rugged up like antarctica expedition in a backpack carrier
Flicka: I agree, so much easier this stage for food wise thats for sure, have made Katie those few recipes but slowly incorporating to ours ( well..mine, DP and ds2 only eat utter cr@p) Tis nice to have someone who appreciates my efforts :fingerscrossed: it stays that way lol
Shazza: uhoh, sounds like crawling there soon. Cant believe how time has gone so fast and look at the ages/stages we are all at!!
Sammy: My ds1 and ds2 are the same...Am hoping can get Katie to eat better too.
LOL @ the cruskit, hahha yep there is no getting one of Katie either if you wanted to.
Mouse: Hope you got more of those sleeps!!!
Katie now sleeps till 7am! She has been working her way to it with now and then ones but this last week its been every day, a few moans at 530 but back to sleep. so a change in routine: breaky when up followed by milk at 8-830 then one nap at 9-10ish, Just how I wanted it :smiliedance:

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a good weekend. Great weather here in Melbourne but didnt really get out in it. Great for getting all the washing done though.
Well I think Sierra's sleeps have gone back to normal, must have just been a couple of days where she wasnt feeling the best. Last night she went down at 9pm (only cos we were out late) & didnt wake til 7:15am. So i was happy with that. Saturday night it was down at 7pm & woke at 5am cos of a dirty nappy but then slept again til just after 9am.
Shes not really taking an interest in solids for the past few days but i'm thinking maybe its cos of her teeth. She has two big lumps on her bottom gum so they are very very close to cutting thru. Still offering her food & just letting her have as much as she wants. It hasnt been a full jar or normal serving for a few days now.
Not much else happening here really. DD1 said last night she had a sore ear. So looked at it and it was oozing puss... sorry TMI lol. And she has a big lump behind her ear on her neck that looks quite pussie (sp?) So had to try & take her earring out, it had dried blood and puss all over it so DH & I had to hld her down cos she was freaking out about it. I cleaned it when i got it out but rang my MIL who works at our gp's clinic & she asked my GP about it. He said she might need antibiotics just so no infection spreads. Dont know how it happened. Shes had her earring in for over a year & 1/2 now & we clean them every few days.
Better get off my bum & go start my housework

:hugs: for Josh & Hunter getting over colds and for mums & bubs still struggling with sleep. Yay for bubs deciding it's time to stop waking all night, Cameron included. The last few nights only a few resettles around 1-2 hours after his bedtime, 1 feed at 12.30ish and then sleep soundly until nearly 7am. Enjoying while it lasts, feeding better too, both milk & solids.
Mim, hope you have a lovely mothers group meeting. Even if Josh doesn't let you tidy up I'm sure the other mummies will understand!
Tired mummy, antibiotics sound like a good idea for your DD1. Poor little mite.
cat ... they might understand, but there are only 4 clear chairs to sit on and dirty bottles, cups, etc everywhere!
hey, why am i typing on the computer? josh is back to sleep now ... better get cracking!

Mim: Hope you get some time to clear up and have a lovely mothers group time.
Well guess what???
AF HAS ARRIVED AGAIN FINALY!!! Very happy as can now go another dose clomid and have a blooming idea what time of month I am..Finally..so relieved!!!! Was quite the moody biatch for a while as hated being in no mans land with delayed AF and no knowing of when it was coming so could start ttc again!!! This one is a proper AF unlike Junes where was quite light so should be regular now on.
LOL yes, this is the only time I will be happy to see AF arrival.
a Hex on it after this to stay away as I will be "up the duff" again! lol
I had been telling my self it was a good thing..The later I conceive the more chance of a VBAC :)

Tabby, Fantastic News about AF! I keep drumming into my DH that I want to fall just after M turns 1, need him out of his cot for the next bub!
Mim, hope your MG is fun - nothing like visitors to motivate for cleaning!
Cat, glad C is feeding better!
Tiredmummy, these things happen sometimes no matter how vigilant we are! I'm sure it will clear up quickly!
Charis, M won't take the panadol either, I hide nurofen in M's food, I mix it into a smaller quantity of food to guarantee he has a full dose. Nurofen tends to last longer so 3 doses a day are alls that needed when he has a sore throat. Hope H feels better soon.
Us, it's our 3rd Wedding Anniversary today, I'm off to cook up a kg of prawns and make a yummy salad for a nice dinner at home - the outlaws didn't offer to babysit and I don't bother asking anymore!

(This after ds1 whos 20th dec as well!.)
As if xmas isnt enough of a financial woe on its own lol
Hope your dinner goes well, sounds divine!!!
Charis: Hope you managed to get something into the little man, if not maybe try something else? Something with a totally different flavor. . baby nurofen is more concentrated so need less, also doesnt smell as strong, might be worth a go? :hugs:to Hunter and hope hes feeling better soon
I don't have the job I wanted for next year. I will get work, but it doesn't look like it will be the job I wanted. The person who was meant to call me still hasn't for whatever reason, so I had to do some ringing around myself to find out because I didn't want another night in limbo.
On a brighter note mother's group was fun (it was before I found out about my job) and we did foot and hand prints of the kids for father's day ... messy, but fun.

As for me, I am technically back at work, albeit from my home computer. Now just have to actually DO some work so I can put it down in my timesheet and get paid. Maybe tomorrow.....:D

:fingerscrossed: AND toes crossed Tabby. You know we love to hear all about TTC! (Even if my own initial cluckiness has worn off)
Not sure I should admit what I do Tabby.....not very exciting. I'm a Chartered Accountant so get to do all sorts of fun stuff like prepare financial statements, tax returns & BAS for clients. But a very handy profession to be in with all the moving around we do and lucky my employer wants me to keep working for them from home even though I've moved interstate AND had a bub.
Out of curiosity, what do all you other currently/formerly/soon-to-be working mums do?
SammyG
27-08-2007, 06:44 PM
Ahhh Tabby, stay away from the mean TTC thread (I was in them TTC with M but I got pretty obsessed along with them all) You will probably will keep more sane in here with us!
Cat, I used to be a jeweller and managed a jewellery store until I had DS1. I can go back as a casual salesperson and be in charge on weekends but it doesn't suit us at the moment. I worked casually after DS1 was born till a few months before M was born. DH is too wrecked now after working 6 days to run around after 2 little boys on his only day off! If my mum ever retires she may come down and babysit to let me go back! Plus I'm ejoying being a SAHM most of the time!
Thanks for the Anniversary wishes!
Dinner was yummy, we are too full to think about dessert yet. Hard to believe 3yrs ago I waddled into the Registry Office (we had DS1 4 weeks later)
sammy ... happy anniversary
tabby ... it's funny cause I tried a TTC thread on another website (can't remember which one) and they were all horrid and I came here and they were lovely. That's why I stayed. I suppose it depends on the women TTCing at a particular time. All you need is a couple of annoying women and it can kill a thread. Consider us your pseudo TTC thread (no, I'm not TTCing). We will be really excited when you get your BFP ... we all can't wait!
cat ... I haven't got official official confirmation yet from the person who was meant to call me, but I haven't got the job. However, I've made some phone calls and there is potential for another job, but it will be up to 6 weeks til I find out. A potential is much better than nothing :)
As for returning to work (which isn't til Feb next year) mum is babysitting Josh 3 days a week and dh is hoping to cut back to working 3 days a week and so will have josh for the other 2 days. I am actually going to do a bit of part time work starting in a week or two, but it's only for 1/2 - 1 hour at a time for a max of about 3 or 4 hours a week. As it will be some early mornings dh will watch josh before he starts work and otherwise mum will watch him. At a stretch I can probably take Josh with me.
Better go ... josh is crying!

Sounds like you have it all planned beautifully too with Josh and your return to work.
Sammy: LoL that was cutting it fine, only 4 weeks later . Glad dinner went well.
Cat: Yep your definitely a handy one to have around, how wonderful to be able to stay on and work from home, perfect job by the sounds of it?
Katie has been trying ALL day to get her bum and tummy up enough to get going
Shes real determined so I dont think its far off.
I lifted her up and she knew exactly what to do and started to take off but she couldnt keep herself up lol.

Gosh yes and YAH for AF Tabby, that is wonderful news so will certainly join all the lovely ladies here in also crossing fingers and toes for you for this cycle!! Thanks for the nice comments about H and his Dad!
Also thanks so much for all the thoughts for sick bubby. He is getting much better and the nurofen is noted Sammy+Tabby for next time. hmm
Mim1 great about the hand and foot prints ,how lovely. How did you do the hands??? Were there a lot of paint covered babies?? Bummer about job, also that they didn't tell you yet, directly. All best with other one.
Happy anniversary SammyG!! With yummy dinner like that you might have some cot sharing going on soon!!
Oh and TABBY awesome about the 7am!! WOOHOO.
Like Josh? is it..Hunter has been reducing his food intake when sick too, and also nipped me twice today. So did the NO and then stopped feeding him. So poor blighter was actually a bit hungry. Figured it was time to swap so now do solids first.
MouseBrown how is your Nana going? Also I know the state and the number of FIFO mine based workers is HUGE, but v sorry to hear about the Helena Valley chap and hope he wasn't a mate of Mouses.
On work Cat13. I work as an architect, work for own company which has all the advantages of flexibility, but none of the advantages of a bigger workplace, ie I am solely responsible and can just about not take a break. I pretty much work 9-2 four days, am pooped come friday and usually 9-11 at night..and Hunter comes with me to meetings/building sites and has since he was v young. On good days it works great on shocking days like today he cried and cried all through a meeting with a cabinetmaker and then a plumber rang and asked if I could come to a site asap, um NO! blah blah. Just still working to keep the office running and out of some feeling of responsibility to clients. I guess on hard weeks it also keeps me sane..but less than it used to :) But Cat13 your job sounds just perfect!! T'is a complicated juggle always for us all though, isn't it!
Well best do some :)
All best to all sleeping babies and to their lovely Mums.xx

Hi everyone
Hope all mums and bubs are doing well.
Things are fine here, Reece is still a good sleeper so I'm lucky there. He's still not that interested in food (except yougurt) so I'm giving him another break and will try again in a few weeks. He seems happy with just his milk and will guzzle it like no tomorrow.
He's also got a nasty nappy rash which I am treating, so he had no nappy on for a while today which he liked. It was 25'c in Melb today, very unseasonal but nice!
Sammy - Happy anniversary. It will be our 5th this year!
Cat - I have always worked in customer service/admin/sales.
I now work from home as an online seller. I have a store on eBay and I'm in the process of opening my own website. I also do the bookwork for DH's business. It's a good job my bub is a good sleeper, isn't it?
Tabby - I saw your post on the previous page about TTC'ing. I hope you have some success soon. I'm going to keep a TTC diary but I don't want to become obsessed with it so I might give the TTC threads a miss too.
I had an appt last week with melb IVF and would you believe it we sat down in the Dr's ofice, his mobile rang and he had to run off and deliver a baby (he is also an OB). So now it is rescheduled for next tuesday.
Ok, that's all from me, I should think about heading to bed.

Hels, I read somewhere that yoghurt can cause a red bottom.. so that might be what is causing his rash.
Well we had an ok last night but we had some unexpected visitors who needed a place to stay with their 9 wk old baby boy- they didn't organise accommodation before they left home:eek: and didn't arrive out our place last night til around 9.15pm. So we didn't have a lovely night like Sammy!!
As a result of the disruption and sore mouth and a noisy baby in the room next door little Alex woke at 12.30am and and 5.30am. Our friends then had the hide to say that Alex is loud and work them up... "he's a baby, I thought to myself.."
Good luck with TTC Tabby. I still am not sure about AF or bleeding (sorry TMI) been happening but not consistently... been off depo since June..!

wild at heart: Who leaves home without organizing accommodation AND with 9 week old baby..sheesh.
Lovely of you to let them stay there.
TMI: I had bright red AF to start, now nothing!!!!!
I had the worst cramps so assumed was going to be a good AF. This is really starting to **** me off.
All I have today is brown discharge like the end of af, actually not even that much! (sigh).
Depo has been worn of since end april and Ive had one AF in june so should be here by now...
ah well, back to limbo land to wait.
Charis: Thanks! I take soo many pics of Katie, shes such a funny bubby, always acting goofy or funny.
Hels: Hope theres more nice weather for lots of nappy free time, have you tried curash powder, I swear by it! Its pretty good stuff, rashes so far disappear over night with it.
Let me know how it all goes Tuesday
and yes your all right (Sammy), to join a TTC would only make me more obsessed that already am im sure lol
Besides, like I said, what better place to share it than with ALL HERE that welcomed me last year, the best thing I ever did.
Cat: I have no profession, have done So many different jobs I couldnt begin to tell. Last one was working for Budget 4wd hire as a detailer..Do miss it!! Love driving/cars/outdoors and was one of my fav jobs ever and I was so sad to leave it at 9 weeks pregnant cos of bleeding :( just as well though as suffered another bleed 4 weeks later.
Right now..I am doing the job I love more than anything else in this world..Mother and wife :D
Katie, again 7am, so looks like a sticker..I feel soooooo much better. Hope those of you waiting for the sleep throughs again can experience it too, real soon xx
Better go, Mum visiting shortly, will be back later

MouseBrown how is your Nana going? Also I know the state and the number of FIFO mine based workers is HUGE, but v sorry to hear about the Helena Valley chap and hope he wasn't a mate of Mouses.
Not quite sure what you're referring to Charis. Haven't seen the news for a few days now.
TJ and H seem to have had the same cold lately. On Sunday she woke up and was very lethargic, slept most of the day and :barf: up a couple of bottles and the two spoons of custard I managed to get into her for dinner. So the good sleeps came to an abrupt end Saturday night (thanks for the thoughts Wild@Heart (Wild@Heart)). The last couple of nights I've been up more times than I can count, with TJ making funny noises and stirring all night long. She's also had some yucky nappies over the past couple of days, so this too might be adding to the sleep dramas with pains in her tummy during the night.
As for Nanna, her body finally gave up on her on Sunday. Which is a huge relief as she no longer wanted to be with us. I'm just glad we got to say our goodbyes a few weeks ago. Her funeral is on Friday in Gingin and I've offered to speak, so have to get my thinking cap on for her.
My sister arrives back in WA on Wednesday, so its been/going to be a huge week. If only I could get a decent sleep before Friday I will be happy. At least Mouse is flying back in to come to the funeral (and can help with the girls).
Charis...DD1 has always hated Panadol and TJ spat it out too, so Nurofen is our best friend when the kids are sick. DD1 loves the taste and TJ hasn't complained about it yet either. Which (as they get older) makes taking medicine lots easier.
Tabby...:smiliedance: for the return of AF
Cat...I work in the Software Development industry. For me taking time out of the industry could be disasterous, as they (the male population) seem to think we females lose our ability to think and work effectively once we've had kids and taken time out. Little do we know we mums actually work 10 times better as we are used to juggling a million things at once:wizard: .
Had DD1's ears peirced yesterday. Would recommend the numbing cream when the time comes for thsoe with girlies. DD1's ears were fine all days yesterday and she slept through without any medication. The little pink studs are very cute.
Sorry for the novel (for those who have reached the end), but haven't been on for a few days and don't know when I'll get on again.
Big sleeps to everyone,
Lisa

Sorry about your Nanna mousebrown - thinking of you this week - especially coming up with a speech and girls sick.
Hels - what rotten luck! Hope he can keep his next appointment... !
Cat - I'm a music specialist teacher.. was teaching classroom at high school when got pregnant. Playing it by ear about when I go back - probably something that doesn't require so much comittment.
Our news is.... that... we've decided to "consider" (DH says we have to use that word at this stage) moving to Melbourne. Actually, he's applying for lots of jobs so who knows when/if it will happen. I've been getting excited and have our house picked out that we are going to buy. (premature I know!) Good thing about perth property prices is that it seems we can afford quite a nice house in Melbourne. Anyway, still a secret (except from you guys!)... my Mum would DIE!
Perth meet - guys I haven't set a date because I'm still quite unwell but looks like monday will be no good for me anyway.. tuesday or wednesday? Meanwhile, if someone else wants to organise it go ahead. I dont' really want to be responsible for your cute bubbies to catch what we've got atm!
eeeeps.. pile of washing staring at me menacingly from the kitchen table. Bye :)

Cordelia: oh how exciting!!!! heh looking at the next house already would be something I would do.
Hope your feeling better soon.
Am amazed I have stayed put this long actually.
As a child we moved more times to count and as an adult I am the same, this house though is the longest yet, 9 yrs, that said I wouldn't mind a change though..to a slightly bigger one..one day.

Very interesting to read the different jobs (in addition to the #1 job of 'mummy') that we all have. Thanks for sharing.
Charis, don't know how you do it. I struggle to get stuff done at home with C let alone all the extra stuff you have in your schedule  . Had half planned to start my own accounting practice from home but too much responsibility for now.
Hels, C loves his yoghurt too. On his fussy days it is used to disguise whatever it is he's refusing, even chicken casserole. Eating like a champ at the moment though and even chomped away on a slice of pear today.
Tabby, C sounds at about the same stage as Katie with crawling. He wants to go sooooo badly but just can't quite support himself yet. I think most of his rolling is due to unsuccessful attempts to push up off his arms. Is also I think the reason he is still not sitting yet because he immediately lunges from the sit position to a crawling position...and then falls flat on his belly!
Cordelia, sounds like exciting things on the horizon & house hunting is always fun (except when there are timing deadlines!). We have been looking at houses up here just for weekend entertainment. Although likely to get us in trouble sooner or later if we happen to find the perfect property!

I hope you like colder weather! Although it's been quite warm just lately. Can I ask why the move? do you have friends/family in Melb? and which area do you have your eye on?
We have regular meets in Melb through the Feb thread, so you are welcome to join us if you do move.
Sorry for all the questions!
Mouse - :hugs:

MouseBrown, v sad to hear the news of your Nanna. All the best of wishes in the emotions of writing and speaking. Good on you. Important time for all and yr family.
So completely unimportant in comparison, but was just was going to hop on and ask what time the two-day-sleep bubs go down in the morning.. as our three-a-day sleeps are in turmoil, also to report that H was up A LOT and fed him as a last resort three times, and awake from 2-4am! Thank goodness there was a new (2nd) little toothy peg this morning.
But was also really just meaning to write, I have nipped nips!! YES OUCH! I think it is now 4 times and two yesterday. The same strategy each time, a strong NO and no smiles at all and then not returning to feed for a long time. No wonder he was eating all night! anyhow broke the skin and is certainly a bit painful :( Now I am slightly 'distrusting' when he's on..I know wrong word..tentative perhaps. Not looking forward to top teeth. Will have to ensure he's understanding the discipline first.OWW any other nips out there?
Very sad tragic news in Perth about 2wk old bub getting dragged out of cot by dog that was accidentally inside. The poor poor parents. Those first few weeks a complete daze, that is so completely terrible.
oops working..time. Cat13 I didn't say it was going all that well, nor am I at all efficient. Even after 7months I still over promise and underdeliver
Hels great to hear from you :) Lovely Reece avatar. You would know this one.., so might Cat13??its just a thought, but is a bank account for our dependents considered an asset of ours?? I'm not hedging or laundrying (well I am, but not cash)..just a thought, as will sell some of Hunters 'old' stuff on ebay, but wouldn't mind if the $ went to his bank account.
Tabby - sorry to hear about annoyingly short AF. Still means that the cycle is rolling along, doesn't it?? what else would it be?? I wave over the river to you sometimes and actually paddled (2nd time in 7months) to the bottom of your location, near the waterski boats. Nice bit of river :)
night night. xxx S of the nipped nips!
