Just wondering how much other families spend on petrol per week? We spend at least $150 per week:eek: which sounds alot to me! But DH has to drive 45mins to work and 45 mins home. I have to do kinder dropoffs 3 times a week and drive to playgroup once a week. Thats about all the driving I do tho. So how much do you spend per week?

We spend $25 a week on petrol (car is a Ford Territory). DH only works 2 min drive away and comes home for lunch each day. Then we go to the shops every Friday for grocery shopping (5 min drive).

We only have 1 car so for normal trips around local & DH to & from work its around $60 a week. If I want to go for a run to sydney to see family or friends its an extra $20.

We spend $70 on petrol and $60 on gas so a total of $130. DH drives an hour to and from work and the school run is 10km each way. We are in the county though and 10km is the nearest to anything. DH does around 200k a day depending upon where he is working.

We spent $80 on petrol yesterday, that was in both our cars. We havent had to fill up for at least a fortnight in DF's car and goodness only knows when in my car... We really dont use much petrol at all..

DP has a work vehicle so doesn't pay for fuel.

I fuel up the car once a fortnight and it usually costs me around $70-$80. If we need fuel before the fortnight is up, then I might put another $10-$20 in just to make sure I don't run out.

Hi,

We have 2 cars and at the moment we are spending about $800 per month on fuel for both cars. We are just getting a new car and I will be stopping work so hopefully our fuel bill will come down a bit.

We spend about $50 a week between us. DH just drives to the train station and back every day so $10 for his car and then $40 for mine covers school drop offs and pick ups during the week and any weekend driving.

Having read all the replies, I think I'm going to come out on top here!

Currently (no children), we spend about $50 every 3 weeks on fuel for our car (late model Corolla). My partner works just 9km away and he mostly rides his pushie. I, on the other hand, ride my 50cc scooter to work. I've said it a zillion times before on here, but that thing is seriously the best $$$ we ever spent. We paid $3,000 for it and it's done 11,500km in the almost 2 years we've had it without any problems. Can't complain! Anyway, I spend about $6/fortnight on fuel on the scooter and I come to work nice and alive (because it's so frigging cold at the moment!).

To those who care, no we will not be replacing the Corolla when the baby comes along - I can't think of anythign worse than driving a big car. It doesn't suit my personality at all.

My car is costing me a fortune hence the reason that i am going to be buying a newer more economical car shortly, its going through around $100 a week in petrol and thats just local and with me trying to do everything in the same trip.

DP has a work ute, so they pay for his petrol..

On my car I pay (depending on the price of fuel) on average $65....

That usually lasts from Wednesday morning to Wednesday morning (the cheapest day to fill up in my Logan Area, but it has to be before 12, cos then the price sky rockets again)

eta: I must add that my car is turbo'd 4 cyclinder, which gets hooned a bit, I put the boost on which uses a bit more fuel than normal, and sometimes I forget to turn it off... and I have done 40 000k's in 7 months, so I drive a fair bit during each week

DH gets paid per month. Family car (toyota prado) has dual tanks, takes about $200 and DH's ute that he drives to work (30 mins each way 3-4 days per week) takes about $150 to fill, so quite a lot. But, having said that we don't always use the whole amount in the family car each month but always top it up.

We have one car and DH works from home and we spend $75.00 a week with just general running around. We drive a V8 4WD though so it guzzles the petrol.

Hey there :)

Im a single mum and currently not working so money is always tight for me...

I always put $55 aside every week to cover food and petrol... Generally $25 of that is petrol money, the rest for groceries.

So weekly I put $20 - $25 of petrol in.

I think..

My car- $10-20 a week.
DH's car- $40 a week.

I just drive a few k's a week to two playgroups and the shops. We use that car on the weekend to go to church and perhaps a drive to the indoor play center or park.

DH's car travels to and from work every day (about 10 mins each way).
'

When we spread the cost of insurance and rego over 52 weeks, we pay less for fuel then we do for the other aspects of owning the cars. I put aside $80 a f/n for tires/rego/insurance and it doesn't seem to be enough when the bills come in!

Well, DH walks to work, and usually we only use the car on weekends and when i get groceries, so we fill up the car every 5-6 weeks and a tank is about $50. So not much...

We fill up once every 3-4 weeks and it cost us between $60 and $65 to fill up.
We are a one car family and DH walks to work and we use the car as little as possible (don't use public transport either...just live central to a lot of things and can easily walk)
