I hope there is someone else out there who has experienced this and/or can suggest what it is.

alice has been grabbing at her crotch the past couple of days, and been a bit grumpy. She has a tiny bit of nappy rash (very slight) but nothing that has worried her in the past. But tonight she was so distressed (at about 6pm) that i had a closer look, and noticed that the skin just inside her vagina, behind her labia (sorry if TMI) is blood red! Not bleeding, but bright red. It looked terribly uncomfortable poor little possum, and she was quite distressed. We gave her some panadol and put her in the car, but every medical centre we drove to was shut. We decided just to keep driving and by the time we got home again she was fine and is now asleep.

has anyone else noticed this on their daughter? could it be thrush? Is it just nappy rash? or is it something more serious like an infection?

i will check again in the morning and take her to a doctor if it's no better, but wanted your advice if anyone has any.

thank you :(

Oh the poor thing :(

Sorry, I don't have any advice other than lots of nappy free time if thats possible. I'd get her checked out in the morning though, just to be on the safe side.

it might be something she has done to herself. if she was grabbing and scratching it due to a slight itch from nappy rash, she might have made it more sore, iykwim? maybe nicked it with her nail or something like that, and it is has now become more irritated? just a thought, i know tilly has had a red sore moo moo (our nickname for it around here:o:rolleyes: ) before, and it was because of that.

My dds get this from time to time. Sometimes I think it might be from bubble bath so try changing the brand. I actually found Savlon the best thing to clear it up. It actually seems to soothe it pretty quickly because it isn't actually nappy rash just vaginal irritation. I took my dd to the doctor and he said it wasn't thrush and said it was quite rare in infants, he recommended savlon. It really did work. But if you have any doubts see your doctor.

Hope that helps:)

A couple of weeks ago, Ry had a little bit of nappy rash - nothing major. I put him in the lukewarm bath and he screamed. When I got him out and looked more closely later, the redness started coming out - he was red raw right through!

I used Amolin cream and I don't know what's with that stuff but by morning, it was vastly better. After a couple of days it was all gone.

Hopefully that's all that Alice has - the heat can't be helping at the moment.

I hope she feels better soon.

Hi Rach
A little girl I was minding awhile ago now had similar. The only soothing I could give her was a cool bath cleansing followed by curash (dont use soap). She was also very uncomfortable and irate when you tried to wash her.
Later diagnosed as thrush. Also had it in her mouth but was very difficult to see. If you have any problems tonight try a cool bathe and some powder.
Good luck with the Dr tomorrow.
