I have a bit of a headache, well usually tiger balm helps and knocks it but this headache is really kicking in making me feel like its nearly borderline to a migraine :( I only have nurofen or asprin or some panadol forte...i cant get to the shops as dh took the car.....anyone else taken them safely whilst pregnant? I am 29 weeks i know they dont recommend anything asprin based but need to knock with before i end up with a killer of a headache and cant see myself running round after the brats feeling like this without hubby about :(

I am pretty sure nurofen is a no no, there is a site that you can look these up on, I'll see if I can find it.

I was told by my doctor that the safety warnings on the box are a precautionary measure, as there has been no studies (as no woman are obviously willing to be a part of a study whilest pregnant) have been carried out onto the effect but are pretty much harmless....except for the one that thins the blood (asprin I think)

I took Herron Blue whilest pregnant, which is Ibuprofen with no problems..or it may have been Panadol..... oops cant remember

:hugs: hugs for you

Have you still got the boxes? It should tell you on there?

If not Nurofen can not be taken in the last 3 months of pregnancy, and Asprin is usually fine.

Hope that helps....Have you tried googling?

panadol is ok, bit nurofen and aspirin are not. I had to take aspirin while I was preganant but only in a very low dose which would not be strong enough to get rid of a headache. Even in a small dose it is classed as dangerous. Nurofen is classed as the same. Hope that helps and makes sense. :)

Aspirin and Nurofen are definite NO's in the last trimester.
You can safely take Panadiene Forte :)

[qote]This medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby during early pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. However, taking ibuprofen during the last 3 months of pregnancy may result in birth defects. Do not take ibuprofen during pregnancy unless your doctor has told you to. It is not known whether ibuprofen passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Do not give this medicine to a child without the advice of a doctor.[quote]

This is what I just pulled...

Ibuprofen aka Nurofen is Aspirin based as are most other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Your not supposed to use any pain killers such as panadol or nurofen while ur pregnant.. because it goes straight to the placenta

unless directed by a doctor i wouldnt take any pain killers:no:

Chemist said they dont recommend asprin or nurofen but panadol is fine, told them i only have nurofen asprin or panadol forte and they told me the panadol forte is the safest to use but only to take one depending how severe it is might just try some more tiger balm and if its still there i will take one of them. They have told me i can take nurofen if necessary but only if doctor agree and as i am prone to bleeding they said give it a miss

Anything to get rid of it i just want to go to bed :( wish hubby would get back home!

I had to have an operation while I was preganant and the hospital gave me panadeine forte (which contains condeine), they said codeine was fine (i also had morpheine during the operations). I thought it was iboprufen that can't be taken while preg... im pretty sure if you read the nurofen pack it would say not to take it while preg, while panadeine/panadol doesn't say that... I'd say have the one forte and it will prob help you sleep too :)
