Hi All,
Just curious what your experiences have been and whether with each caesar you had, the baby was delivered earlier than the last. So especially interested if you had 2 or more caesars in a relative short time.
I am planning on having my 3rd caesar (in as many years!) in December.
My first c-section was emergency caesar when I failed to progress (only 3cm dilated) after 24 hrs.
2nd was elective based on my 1st experience and Obs recommendation. She was booked in 11 days early.
My 3rd baby is due 23rd Dec. So haven't met with my ob yet to discuss this. Although, when I last saw him he did indicate that if I was to have another baby it would be earlier again.

Gosh I never knew it made that much of a difference how many you have had, but then mine weren't spaced quite so close together.
My first ceaser was in 2002, basically it was a failed induction with no progression of labour. I was given a certain time frame to dilate a certain amount or else it was straight down to theatre. He was almost 2 weeks overdue.
Second was 2004, ceaser scheduled due to previous experience, 5 days before her due date.
Third was 2006, due date was the 27th of feb, ceaser scheduled for the 22nd but went into labour on the 20th.
I know my ob doesn't like to go any earlier than 38 weeks and generally schedules for 39weeks. I guess if your due date was incorrect then there is the risk that the baby will be quite preterm. Personally my favorite was the third one, at least I knew then that the baby was definately ready to make his entrance into the world.

Hello,
My DD was born via c-section at 40 weeks, 1 day, after failing to progress in labour, after 18 hours established labour.
I fell pregnant when she was 16 weeks old or therabouts, and my ob booked my in for a c-section at 39 weeks, a year and 2 weeks after my first c-section.
Recovery for 2nd c-section was definelty worse, but I did have them 12 months apart!!

My dd was born by c section at 10 days overdue. I was induced, and had no progression at all in to labour, so a c section it was.
DS was born via "elective" c section 3 days before his due date.

Personally my favorite was the third one, at least I knew then that the baby was definately ready to make his entrance into the world.
That is exactly what I was thinking NickAlex. My 1st came on her due date - spontaneous labour so I knew she was "cooked" lol. She was a much more settled baby - seemed happy & content to be in the world and really just looked around as if to say "WOW I'm finally here". Slept through from 9 weeks etc etc. Dream baby.
My 2nd born 11 days early was over 8lb (nearly a pound bigger then my 1st) but I still didn't feel she was ready to come into the world. She was screaming when she was pulled out and has been a screamer even since.
My 3rd I would like to be born closer to due date - just so in my mind - he/she is ready to enter the world.
Thanks to everyone for your replies - it is very interesting to read - just goes to show the differing opinions of Drs/Obs for when to deliver your bub.

My first was an emergency caesar in 2003 it was a failed induction with no progression of labour, I was 13 days overdue.
The second in 2005, on doctors advice due to problems with the first delivery was 2 days before the EDD.

The thing that gives me peace about my sons c/secs was the fact that they were at least born on the day they wanted to come out, since both were in-labour surgeries....
Small positive silver-lining. I really do feel over-whelming peace when I remind myself that at least I gave them the hormones of labour, and the massage of contractions....so Nickalex, I am right there with you on how you feel about your 3rd birth....

My DS1 was born by emergency cesarean after a 24 hour labour and being told his head was too big to be delivered naturally (i was fully dialated). I was induced 2 days befor his due date and ended up having him on his due date back in September 2003 he weighted 9lbs 13 oz.
DS2 was born 15 months later by elective cesarean in December 2004 he weighed 10lbs 4oz. He was born at 39 weeks.
I wouldnt recommend this close i had a lot of complications and took me longer to recover. I was walking everywhere after DS1 and even though i was sore was still really mobile and stuff but after DS2 i found it more difficult to get around, i had the vomits at one point plus a UTI, it was definately worse.

DD - 13 days early
DS1 - 11 days early
DS2 - 9 days early
All elective due to small birth canal (not enough room to pop out, small pelvis).
Each birth was with a different ob, each ob had a different opinion on when to bring bub.
DD - in intensive care for 1 day
DS1 - in intensive care 1/2 day
DS2 - Not in intensive care at all
Bringing them too early caused problems (mainly coldness and breathing difficulties), so I let my DS2 bake as long as I could safely.
10 years ago it was the norm to bring them 2 weeks early if by elective caesar, but nowdays no earlier than 1 week due to studies that have found babies brought more than 1 week earlier had a higher incidence of ending up in intensive care.

I had DD by elective c/s 6 days before EDD at 39 weeks.
I'm due to have my next c/s in October and the plan is for it take place 9-11 days before EDD at 38 weeks.

My DS was born at 39w6days so only 1 days early, elective (all thoughit was by bubs choice not mine) c-sect due to the fact he went up into my abdomen! So will be interesting when we have next bubs to see if we can wait that long again or not.
