I'm new here, so not sure if this has been posted before, had a quick look and couldn't find a post like it.

I'm getting married hopefully in Jan 2008 and want to find a good but not too expensive dressmaker in Melbourne - Sth east preferably, anyone got any recommendations?

Sorry, not for that area, but try Heather Sellick at Kilsyth. Google her as she has a website, is a lovely person, very accommodating and is a designer also, not just a maker.
