It's fairly similar to Bunbury in size and "feel". I grew up in Gero and my folks are still there.

It's got a range of schools, two hospitals, pubs, big shopping centers.....it's bloomin' windy though!

I lived there for a couple of years after finishing uni.

Most people I talked to before moving there said - "oh you don't want to move there". Couldn't get a why out of anyone. They were all WRONG!!!

I absolutely loved it there.

I agree about the size and feel compared to Bunbury, but it's more remote, with less "larger" towns surrounding. I loved the fact that you could drive one way and find a beautiful town by the river mouth - lots of places to explore in Greenough, then only 1 1/2 hours from Kalbarri with gorges etc, then go east to beautiful wildflowers and country escapes, Mullewa etc, then if it was windy on one coast, go to another (The beaches all face different ways.).

If I hadn't met my hubby when I'd moved closer to Perth for professional reasons, I'd have moved back to Gero for the long run. Oh and the people I met there were/are fantastic!

About the wind...

If you can't beat them, join them - I took up windsurfing;)
