I seen Dr Docker! He practices out of Belmont though so might be a bit far for you?
For the record though he is a wonderful wonderful man and well worth the travel!!

Good luck in your search!!

I cannot praise Dr Glenn Lowe highly enough, he has his office in the grounds of the Newcastle Private Hospital in the medical suites located there. It is near the John Hunter.

I'm not a fan of Obs so I really can't recommend any
BUT Obs in the Maitland area are extremely busy, as in call the second you get that :bfp:and book an appt. There are a few over at the private hospital near Greenhills.
I have heard of women booking an appt every month just incase, then just cancelling it if they don't get that BPF, and then making another appt for the next month.

I also second the Dr Docker vote, although i am on the Central Coast, he also works out of Toukley as well as Belmont, he has not delivered any of my babies (yet).. but i have seen him for a d & c, and is now my Ob. He has been wonderful and i have heard nothing but praise from many here and in my local area. i am delivering in Newcastle just so i can have him. Rather than on the coast

Good luck

The only one that does IVF in Maitland is Greg McGrath - he works out of Maitland Private Hospital rooms and is with Sydney IVF. They also work out of Merewether Private hospital.

Hunter IVF are available through Dr Raymond in New Lambton.

I saw Dr McGrath and didn't like him at all and many other women have said the same thing. He is a brilliant doctor but not very good with people skills and stressed me out - which when looking into IVF we don't need extra stress! I also got the impression they are more interested in your money.

My friend saw Dr Raymond and loved him. He was a brilliant doctor and had wonderful bedside manner and very very thorough. I have heard great things about him from others and Dr Hedges that is also on his team.

You will need a referral from your GP to see any OB.

Both hunter and sydney ivf run information sessions from time to time, I found them very helpful. You can register on their websites to be told when they are running and I've seen them in the paper sometimes too.

goodluck in your search and in having a baby!

BTW - both my friend and I that were looking into IVF became pregnant by using clomid - a drug that you can take before the intense IVF process :D

Steve Raymond is gorgeous but unfortunately is no longer a practising OB - only does IVF and scanning these days.

I use Jock Shumack who I cannot praise highly enough. He is funny, caring and just so supportive of anything that concerns you. Plus my DH loves him - which makes it even better when DH comes to the appts with me.

Glen Lowe delivered DD as Jock was on holidays. He is a really nice man too.

Jillian Spilsbury is wonderful - she did all my scans with both pregnancies and is OB to a few of my friends.

Denise Nesbitt I have heard mixed reactions too. One friend really didn't like her and yet two others adored her.

Who are you doing IVF with? If it is Woolcott at The Junction, he works very closely to Jock Shumack (which is why we chose him. We had fertility issues and when we fell pregnant we asked who Robert works with. Jock covers for Robert when he is away)

Good luck with everything. Sticky baby dust wishes your way.

Dr Docker!!!!! I too saw him at his Toukley office but he delivered my girls in Newcastle. He is the nicest man and I dont think I would trust anyone else to do such an important job

I had Greg McGrath when I gave birth to my first son (plus a m/c before that). I thought he was wonderful - extremely thorough. He spent hours at the birth - from about midnight to 3.30am over the Easter w/e - most of the time just waiting, monitoring and chatting and making us feel very at ease. I always felt thoroughly informed about every aspect of the preg & m/c; he did every test imaginable. He is very professional. I truly felt that he valued my preg to the highest level. I now live in Melb and soooo wish I could have him again as my current Obs is so laid back; I feel I am managing my own preg!

Good luck

we are going through Westmead Fertility Centre so it doesnt matter which OB I choose.

Im not sure about using an OB from SIVF. I dont want them to treat me differently because I did IVF somewhere else..

Ive heard of Jillian Spilsbury though.. my gyno recommended her. Does she see public patients though? At the moment our health cover has lapsed.. lol OOPS.

Our IVF should start at the end of September.. I think.. Im not really sure atm. *throws arms up in the air*

Lizzymcfizzy - I did 9 cycles of clomid, but no luck there.

HI

I dont' think Sydney would treat you any differently because you did IVF somewhere else! Well they shouldn't anyway.

Goodluck in your search. I guess all you can do is visit a few and see which ones you feel most comfortable with, if their fees are suitable, if they deliver if you want them at the birth and if you can get in to see them soon. Most take a month at least to get in so better get your skates on if you want to do a round in September!

Best of luck with your IVF! :hugs:

Jillian is gorgeous - she did all my scans. I don't think she delivers at John Hunter - all the OBs in Newcastle will only deliver at NPH from memory. You would be able to see her without medical insurance coverage but I would think that you would have to pay all the costs - give her office a call, the receptionists are quite nice.
