I'll start us off. I'm 32 years old and my DH and I are trying to conceive baby # 1. I have a 10 year old son from a previous relationship who is very excited at the thought of becoming a big brother (as long as I have a boy :) )

Million dollar question throw into this forum - what to do when you want to copnceive a particular sex? Say for arguements sake a boy?

Any one got any wives tales they'd like to share?

My Nanna had fourteen children - 7 boys and 7 girls. When my cousin had his third girl, he asked my Nanna "How do you get a Boy, Nanna"? She replied, "You have to do it standing up". Well, he just about fell off his chair - not a good visual Nanna! I'm sure this is no help to you, but it's worth a try! I have four kids - boy, girl, boy, boy and I don't remember doing anything too different with each of them...good luck. :eek:

I've had a couple of friends who've tried some of the techniques outlined on this webpage: http://www.childbirth.org/articles/sex.html and have been successful in having girls - having had boys first time around. You can also buy ovulation kits from the pharmacy which can help predict when you ovulate which can be useful too.

Hope this helps! I'm going to study it myself as we'd like to try for another one soon - although I think I have my hands full enough with two and running the Bub Hub!

Hi, my sister-in-law said this worked for her and she has 1 boy and 1 girl. It's a bit crude, but deep penetration for a boy and shallow penetration for a girl. At least you can have fun trying. :p

Have you had a look at the chinese gender predicter calender? go to a search engine and look it up! i'm not sure how accurate they are but they worked for me :D

I have heard some incredibly far fetched wives tales. one of my favourites is that the 'environment' needs to be more acidic for girls so this woman ate a lot of oranges and she had her girl after 2 boys.
The only one i have heard that seems a little more likely is that girl sperm (so to speak! :D ) live longer so you should have sex 2-3 days before ovulation and boy sperm die quickly so wait till the day of ovulation or the day after (depending how fertile you are. ) (I want to know what sperm survival says about the difference between males and females?! ;) )

I've printed out the article and will begin monitoring and practising for that baby girl in April! Hopefully to be pregnant in September and with said baby girl in June 06!
