Hi guys
I'm part of a support commitee made up of mum's that supports a midwifery led birthing service in my area. Our commitee sends a newsletter out to subscribers and parents using the service. I'm looking for different hints and tips about baby's and pregnancy that i can add into the latest newsletter.
If anyone has any handy hints that they would be willing to share with me I'd would be so greatful
cheers
A shelf next to the clothesline to sit the washing basket on was my godsend during pregnancy......
Is thiat the sort of tip you're after?

The above hint is great for after a ceasar too. We ended up using a second hand baby bath stand we didn't need - fits prfectly and has wheels - still using it 12 months on!!
When I have my thinking cap on I'll post something too!
1) Cloth nappies are handy even if you are planning on using disposables - they are great for putting on your shoulder while burping baby and cleaning up messes, or put under baby to protect surfaces from nappy leakage or possets etc.
2) If you haven't got a change table in your house, or end up moving baby into your room and don't have room for change table, all you need is a nappy bag with all the stuff you need in it, and a plastic mat and you can change baby on your bed. BTW it's great to have 2-3 small plastic mats for nappy free time when bub is still small, they can be used to protect basinet matresses, and as changemats.
3) A night light/TV with sound turned down is great for breastfeeding (so you can attach baby correctly) and changing baby overnight without waking everyone else up. It's also enough light so you can check on bub during the night without disturbing bub.
4) A box of clothes pegs are a great toy for older babies.
5) New disposables don't feel wet to touch, so if you are worried that baby isn't passing water, you can check by comparing the weight of the used nappy to a clean one, the used one will be heavier if baby has wet.
6) Pillow cases make great bassinet bottom sheets - use bunny rug for top sheet.
7) You can't have too many bunny rugs - they get spat up on, dirtied on many times a day.
Another great bit of advice that I got was to cook up lots of meals before baby arrived. I did about 6 big cook ups and ended up having enough food to last us three months along with all the meals friends and family brought over.
We didn't have enough space to keep them all in our freezer, so I asked a friend if we could store the rest in theirs. This was a major help - babies take up so much of your time in the early days, it's great to have a yummy ready cooked meal on hand ready to go.
