Is it just me, or do you find that you don't get as much done in the day when your partner is home! I love when my DH is home with us during the week, but i find it kind of stuffs our routine up a bit! Anyone else feel the same?:p :)

I usually find one of two things.

Either I stick to my routine, and DH realises that there are only so many minutes in the day, and why sometimes things don't get done on account of competing priorities, or we seem to get nothing done that I usually do. There doesn't seem to be any in between.

YES YES YES so true!
I love when DH is home through the week because it kinda gives me a bit of a break. Not so much my routine goes by the wayside but, I tend to relax a bit more and then nothing seems to get done very well.

Me too......I run by military precision when Ava has a sleep. Feed myself, unload dishwasher, do the washing, cleaning etc etc and if we need to go out I feed her and we go.

He just doesn't understand the whole "window" theory.

When you have a "window" go hard cos you only get a couple a day!

God love em'

Can't get a thing done when he is home.

Yessori! My DH went back to work on mon after 6 weeks (he is a teacher) off and in the last three days i have got more 'non baby' stuff done than i did in the whole six weeks! The house is clean and tidy, we have had good dinners, washing and ironing are up to date and the bed gets made! Oh, and i even brush my hair!

Amazing!:p

Yep I have found that our place is a mess when Dh is home but organised when he isnt.

I guess I am just more relaxed when he is here to help me clean up. :)

I have a couple of theories.

1) My DH doesnt understand the "window of opportunity" theory at all and all attempts to explain it has fallen on deaf ears.

2) In order to keep the routine going and stay sane I really need to expect him NOT to jump in and help, if he does ( which does happen sometimes) its a bonus. If he helps I have a great day, if he doesnt I keep my head above water. Win:Win situation really. :)

Cheers

Oh dont or i shall cry !!!!!
My partner has now been home for coming up 8wks & still has another 3 to go AT LEAST
Im screaming inside !!!!!
Dont get me wrong i have days where things do get done but otherwise im all over the place as im used to having the weekends off so to speak as thats 2 days where i dont wash or clean instead we just have family time & i have to keep telling myself "its not a weekend remember silly ".
The place is always a disaster with him around !
I thought it was bad enough when bubs was a newborn & i could hardly get things done but now its like a bomb has hit because i no sooner tidy up etc that he is messing it all up again !!!! :(

Oh wells he is lucky i love him :D

Ooooooh, I so agree, its great to have him home & god I do love him but man am I glad when he goes back to work. I don't think that they understand that when they aren't there we have everything running by schedules & routines that even the military would be proud of.

Dh works Monday-Friday and by the end of the weekend the house is like a pigsty (sp?), hence I do my housework on a Monday! ;)

Men just don't get the whole routine thing (and how important it is), DH puts the kids to bed really late for their day sleep and then wonders why they are up till all hours before wanting to go to bed at night

We do love having him home though, I find I can mentally switch off for a bit which is nice and most of all having some nice quality family time is always nice.

I'd LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE to have DH home at all the time lol if I could. So whenever he's home I never worried abt anything else!
It's always so good to have him around the house during weekdays!
Pity we dont get this often! :(
