Hello,
My former boss rang me yesterday and offered me one day a week at my old job. I can pick any day and have it permanently, will get casual rates :D, and the hours are only 9-3.
DP works from home and can easily look after little dude, as he could work early in the morning, and then through the dude's nap time (9-11; 1-3)...
I am feeling like this could be a good thing, getting out once a week, getting dressed up, and just generally having a change of scenery... And while I liked my old job, I looooooved the other staff members, we were always having a laugh...
I would also like the extra money... I am being so careful with my moolah right now, but am dying for some frivolous spending; toys, hairdresser, outfits for the dude, all the stuff that you can do without if you have to...
Anyway, I just thought I would put this out there to see what other mums and dads, working or not, thought.

Go go go. What have to got to lose?
I know when I have been away from my kids for a time I come home and find them even lovlier when I left them.
You have the bonus of Dad looking after your dude so it is win win. Dad and son time, work and cash for you.

good for you have often thought about getting a job but its either full or part time 1 day would be so perfect, lucky you and enjoy your time and extra money
Hi Ali
I love working part time, its really great and suits our family well. I've been lucky that when I told ppl that's what I wanted to do, they said "fine". I know many other women who didn't have bosses this flexible. I'd say go for it, you can always stop if it isn't working for your family.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for all your positive posts, I spoke to my boss today and confirmed the offer - I start next week!
Tee hee, to celebrate the dude and I went out and bought some lovely toys :D...
Now all we have to do is get the dude drinking from a bottle

Hi Ali,
I'd say go for it!:)
One big plus with having your DP babysit for you (apart from giving them precious father-son time) is that you don't have to pay childcare fees, so all the money you earn is YOURS, YOURS, YOURS!!! Yippee!!
I only work one day a week, and am very fortunate my company was flexible about this being my preferred working option after maternity leave. I quite enjoy just getting out, doing the makeup/clothes/shoes thing, giggling with my colleagues, using my brain, only carrying a handbag around with me and eating my lunch in peace. Of course, that doesn't stop me from putting photos of DD everywhere and talking about her with my co-workers all the time!!
And the reception DD (and DH) gives me when I get home is always priceless.....:D

I say go for it!
"Me" time is important! Good for the body, good for the mind!
And a happy and healthy mum = healthy, happy and one lucky bub! :)
I say go for it, there's nothing better than having a good laugh (and getting paid for it). It will be good for your soul. I never realised until I went back to work that those hairs growing out of my chin and the months old regrowth really was unattractive!!
go for it!
It sounds like a great idea! Would be great for you.. the extra money, some you time and be good to feel like your old self again!
