Hi all ,

DD is 3 months old, and other than a bedtime routine (bath, feed, sleep), there isn't a day time routine.

Just wondering what kinda routines other 3 month old bubs are on? Does bub wake about the same time every day? Do they feed about the same time every day? DD's day sleeps is all over the place, so her feeds is all over the place as well :(.

Hiya

It depends on the kid. My DD had a great routine from 8 weeks - would feed at the same times every day, etc. and the routine just developed as she got older, but always knew what should be happening when. My DS didn't. We got into a nighttime routine about 2 months ago (at 9 months) and I think we're slowly getting into a daytime routine now.

DS#2 is 10 weeks and has a bit of a day rouyine going. 'if he has a good night he always wakes between 8-8.30am. He feeds generally every 3 hours (unless we are out or he miraculously is still asleep he may stretch till 4 hrs!) and we just follow a feed/play/sleep routine. His day sleep are all over the place too (catnapper :( ) so every day is still fairly different!!

my Ds is just over 3mths old and kinda is in a routine. he has a big sleep just b4 lunch and then one in the late arvo... thats about as routine as it gets for us... if he doesnt get those sleeps he becomes overtired and screams the house down. we play feed and muck around inbetween sleeps... im a go with the flow, take it as it happens kinda mum.. it works for us. just do what works for u, theres no set rules u have to go by in parenthood

We are slowly getting into a routine of awake and happy from 7am (after a quick feed around 4am). Then throughout the day it is the FEED, PLAY, SLEEP routine (though sleep only lasts 40 minutes tops).
Then at night it is feed and bath around 5pm and he is ready for bed around 6pm. He will usually wake for a quick top up feed around 8pm and go straight back to sleep.

DD1 is 13 weeks this Sunday and she her sleep patterns can varie a lot. At night she sleeps 9pm-5 am most days then would wake at about 8.00. An hour and a half would pass and she would have had about 2 feeds by 10.30 sometimes more. Before lunch she can sleep for an hour and at about 2pm she can sometimes sleep for a few hours. She used to have a small nap after 4pm but now seems to stay awake from 3pm right through to 9pm her sleep time:eek:. Shes good though most of the time but few days ago she was going through her 3 month growth spurt and fed 4 times in one hour and screamed a lot!! I was expecting it but it can be very tiring at times!
Her full night sleeping pattern started pretty much since 7 weeks and I consider myself pretty lucky as she goes to sleep herself, no need to rock her any more :yelclap:

Hi Maggiemay,

My DD is 3 1/2 months and has been on the same routine since we came home from sleep school and she does really well.

Usually wakes between 6.30am - 7.00am

She feeds at:

7.15am
8.00am - 9.45am - Sleep
10.45am
12.00 - 1.30pm - Sleep
2.15pm
3.45 - 5.30pm - Sleep
6.00pm
Bath
Top up
7.00pm - bed

She usually wakes between 3.30 - 4.30am for a feed (although lately has been waking earlier, think it might be a growth spurt).

I know she could go to 4 hourly but she can let me know when she is ready.

Just go with whatever works for you, but after coming home from sleep school the most important piece of advice from the nurses was that if you want your bub to sleep longer during the night you must make sure they are getting enough calories during the day.

However, saying all that, if we have a bad day is I can't get her to settle during a sleep, we just go with the flow.

Good luck :)

DS is 3months, and although it is still a bit all over the place somedays, i find that some feeds are at similar times sometimes. (i can tell 'cause i have been watching the same programs regularly when feeding him - lol)

4/5am - feed, straight back to sleep
7:30ish wake-up, feed and play
9-9:30 - top up if seems a bit grumpy (or if boobs still feel a bit too full) then bed.
11am - will sometimes wake for another feed, but if i've topped up at 9am will sleep until 12/1pm.
2pm sleep
4pm feeed
6:30 bath, wind down cuddle
7:30feed (both sides this time)
8:30/9:30 bed.

It can go 3 or 4 days at the same time & then he changes again, or we have a day out and i feed him when it suits me!

Skye is almost 3 months old, she has a routine sort of, it varies from day to day but generally she is is in bed by 8pm (asleep by about 8.30pm) then sleeps til about 4am (sometimes it can be later and some nights she wakes up around 11pm for a small bottle of milk) after her 4am feed she sleeps until about 7.30-8am and has another feed. Then she has another sleep from about 9.30-10am to about 12.30ish and has another feed then another nap about 1.30-2pm to about 3.30-4pm then another feed, then she'll have a bath around 6.30-6.45pm then a feed at 7pmish and in bed by 8pm again. I am following her lead at the moment and her routine isn't set in stone, some days she might be awake a bit longer esp if it takes her ages to feed (sometimes it can take up to an hour for one feed because she can get fussy or she tends to play in between). I probably wont start setting a proper routine until shes on solids (around 4 or 5 months) like I did with Hayley. Today she had a 2 hour nap (12am to 2pm) then woke up for a feed and was awake for just over an hour, she is currently asleep at the moment (its 4.15pm-she went to sleep about 3.30) and she should hopefully sleep until about 5.30 or there abouts. She was awake this morning at about 8.30 (before then had a feed just before 3am)

Hi ..

Noah is in a routine and loves it - just like Charlie did ..

He is almost 4 months

Sleeps for 12 hours each night

2 x 2 hour sleeps in the day plus 30 min nap

4 hourly between feeds (4 feeds per day)

He is like clockwork  Scarily so !

Works very well for us !!

Charlie (2 and half) still loves his routine and has been easier to work around it since Noah's arrival !

Goodluck ..

BTW : The reason I'm posting this early DP was hogging the bed and I couldn't sleep !

My bubs has absolutly no routine. I have been recording the times of his feeds for weeks now & each day they differ a lot. Sometimes he sleeps from say 10pm until 2am then wakes for a feed, other times he can sleep from 9pm until 5am, then wakes for a feed. Each day is different & he doesnt sleep at the same times. I just feed him when he wants to eat, put him to sleep when he is tired & play with him when he is interesed in playing. He also eats different amounts. Some days he might have 6 bottles, other days 4. It really varies, but I wish he had a bit of a routine.
