Throughout my pregnancy I have had low blood pressure, then on Tuesday it went up to about 136/90 I think. Anyways yesterday and today I havnt been feeling too well so went to the hospy and had it checked again, it had shot up to 167/120 (or there abouts), the nurse told me to lay straight down and she got my mum out of the waiting room. I started to freak out and then had an anxiety attack (was so scared, Ive never had a bp problem).
Anyways they took some blood and urine sample and took some more pressure checks (147/110) then I managed to get down to about 140/90 (eventually), which is still very high. I have to go back to the doctors tomorrow and they will see from the results if its pre eclampsia, whereupon if it is I might have to be induced.
I am so scared and anxious that something is going to happen to me or the bub. Just incase the fact that tomorrow is my due date isnt making me anxious enough, now I have this to deal with.
Any positive experiences or advice ladies???

I know it's hard, but try not to worry too much and try to relax, put your feet up. Did they tell you the symptoms to look out for? Were you at the hospital or your gp? When my blood pressure went up they also did fetal monitoring and an ultrasound while I waited to get the blood/urine results back. If you were with your gp I would suggest giving the hospital a ring. You could do that anyway and have achat with one of the midwives, sh emay be able to set your mind at ease till tomorrow morning.

Try to relax. The fact that your carers are aware of your situation means that you and bub should both be fine. It's the cases that go unnoticed or undiagnosed that can have not-so-nice outcomes.
I had PE with my first pregnancy too. I was diagnosed at 39 weeks. My BP got to extraordinary heights! I was well looked after though.
I did end up being induced as the only way to "cure" PE is to give birth. During labour my BP rose again and I was seeing floating 'stuff' in the air at which point it was suggested I have an epidural. In ordinary cases I would advise people against an epidural but in the case of PE, it can be the difference between stabilising your BP and it going through the roof, so if it is suggested to you, it will be done so with the best of intentions.
I went on to have a VB, after an epi and episiotomy though, and it was truly the greatest moment of my life up until that point in time.
Stay calm and take the nest few days as they come and trust your carers-they do know what they are doing when it comes to PE.
Oh and the good news is, it is unlikely that you will develop PE in future pregnancies. :hugs:

Thanks ladies. I was at the hospy then my gp, and if it were bad enough they would have insisted i stay in the hospital for observation, but it did come down a bit and stablize. I had the worse sleep last night just worrying and being nervous about it all. I understand that it has now been found and its all okay, but i still am so anxious, which is making the situation worse. I have an app with the gp in 4 hours and then we can discuss options. I just want everything to be okay.....
BTW Sal, the dr also advised about the epi saying it lowers bp during labour, so thats probably definetly a reason to get one if my bp is rising.

so do you actually have PE? im confused as i thought they just thought you might have it...
blood pressure is affected by emotional state, alcohol, stress, exercise, posture, smoking, and family history.
if you are/were nervous you will most certainly have a high result(though perhaps not alarmingly high)
140/90 is borderline.(not sure about pregnancy though) dont stress too much. :hugs: bubs is almost ready to come out anyway, so thats a plus.

Thanks Lireal, I receive the bloods back today which will say whether its pre eclampsia, doctors seem to think it is though. Just mild at this stage. I guess the positive thing is that today is my due date and so if induction is needed there is no problems.

if its mild you may be ok to wait and let bub come on his own. good luck and let us know. just remember that you have a voice and you dont have to blindly follow a doctor,if you feel things are not right tell them.

Thanks ladies
Just got back from the dr's, everything seems to be okay which is great news. Bp is still highish (143/80) but much lower than yesterdays big 160 something over 120 something reading  . and no baddies in urine or blood samples so thats great news. Not allowed to do anything though (no cleaning or grocery shopping or anything, just have to sit on my bum). Dr said that if he hasnt come on his own by Tuesday and bp is still at that level then Ill get induced. So :fingerscrossed: he makes his grand entrance before then.
Holly im so glad everything is ok and be sure to rest lots now missy

That's great news about your results. Soak up these last few days of pregnancy and relax. A calm, relaxed mumma is just perfect to bring a bubba into the world. All the best and here's hoping for a memorable water breaking story!

I have a positive story for you! My sister-in-law developed this (though she has had high bp since she was born - so they were watching her very closely). But anyway, two weeks ago at 33 weeks, bp went through the roof and SIL started getting protein in her urine, so they injected her with steroids to develop Bubs lungs. Three days later little Keady was delivered by csection, and I am happy to say that all is well. A bit hard on them because they were separated with bub in ICU, but Bubs main problem was blood sugar, she luckily had good weight and lungs. The docs have managed the blood sugar with a dextrose drip and now almost 2 weeks later she is able to feed a little every second feed.
Anyway you are much further along than that, so that's all on the plus side. They know how to handle this situation now, and how to take excellent care of both Mum and Bub, so whatever happens you will be find and so will that little precious bundle.
All the best,
Anna (33 weeks and counting)
