Don't know if this is the right place for this thread ... but just to let any Brisbane mums know in advance that if you are going to want to have a Nuchal Translucency or Nuchal Fold scan done, try to make your booking at least 3 weeks in advance.
Maybe you already know this because you are probably more organised than me ... but there "apparently" is a shortage of accredited sonographers who can do these scans and interpret the results. Also there is obviously a high demand for these tests even from "low risk" Mums. Even my GP was not aware of having to make arrangements so far ahead! (I didn't even know I was going to be a viable preganancy 4 weeks ago!!!)
The tests are also quite expensive, unless you have them done through your chosen public hospital, Medicare will only pay the first $100.

Hi there,

Im 13 weeks preggers and have had a few hiccups along the way.

But just to let you know that Im booked in the Mater for the birth of my baby, and Im seeing them right up to the birth.

I had my NT scan with one days notice, perhaps maybe they have priority listing, I have no idea. But I thought I would just share it with you.

Hi there, I was really stressed out before my 12 week NT scan but a friend had recommended I go to this new ultrasound practice at South Bank......sogi ...!!!They were amazing. Its the most modern medical place i have ever been to. Way cool and professional. They had a genetic counsellor who spoke to us before the scan. this really was helpful and relaxed me before the scan. We watched our baby dancing around in 3D and 4D on a huge TV screen. My mum was bawling her eyes out. Even my husband lost it. We couldn't believe how real it was. Luckilly the risk was really low(phew!!!) and the doctor explained it all to us after the test.
Cant wait for the 19 week scan.!!!
They put pictures of my baby on their website so my hubbies mum could see it in England. Check out their website...says it all.

Unless you go to one of the private clinics there seems to be a shortage of appointments for the 20week scan also. I couldn't get in anywhere (with 2 weeks notice) and they said they were booked up two months ahead!
I ended up going to the Gold Coast where I got in really easily.
