View Full Version : Travel Cot
We need to buy a travel cot - like everything else - there seems to be unlimited options! It needs to be light & pack up as easily as possible, sturdy etc
anyone got any suggestions?
Ta,
Tannie
Samsonite do a great travel cot that folds up to nearly nothing,... It has a mozzie net over the top too, which is great,... I am not too sure whether you can buy them in Aus, but have a look on UK Ebay,.. I got one from there,.

We're still using our portacot that we bought years ago (and I might add that it has been through a few friends children as well).
Steelcraft is the brand- but I don't know which model sorry.
Good luck! :) :)
We are using a childcare brand one which is certainly sturdy, has the mossie net etc, but none of them pack up particularly light or small - except for the Phil and Ted's one (www.philandteds.com) - a friend bought one and she said it weighs about 2kgs and packs up very small. It is a completely different design to the normal cot, but if lightness and compactness are important, might be worth a look.
Hello Tannie!
We bought a great cot for my In Laws to have at their place. It is quite lightweight and easy to pack away. The other great thing is that it has a little baby option in that with babies from newborn to about 5 months, it has a higher insert. We found ths option great.
I can't remember the brand unfortunately, but I do know that we got it as a big baby shop in Brisbane called Babies Galore at Keperra on the north side of Brisbane. It cost $145.
We have a Porta Cot at home that I got at Target on sale for $70. It is much heavier and has no newborn insert. But it does the job as the downstairs cot. It is Baby Club brand.
Hope you find the right one!

WE actually never bought a proper cot for our 1st, they're just soooooo expensive, so we opted for a porta cot instead, I think it may be a Steelcraft one, it's easy to fold up and it goes into a bag, it also has a bassinette in it. You can get ones that have a change table in them too now, they look pretty good.
We got ours from Babyco when we lived in SA.
Thanks everyone for the input............that Phil&Teds one looks pretty space age to me - Impressive :p Am still "umming and ahhing" about it -but need toget one this week.......for value a few people have recommended the Steelcrafts....will just have to check out the various models and see how lightweight and small they fold into. We get other Samsonite things here - so might find out if they're around to suss out.
Ta again!
