I dont know bout other mums out there but i am addicted to Ready Steady Cook!!!. I think that the first song my DD will me able to hum/simg is the theme song. I used to watch it all the time wen iwas pregnant. But I turned it on yesterday and was so dissapointed that they have changed the host to peter Everett. They have redecorated the set too but it is just not the same wit peter everett as the host. Hope it gets better soon

Claire,
I couldnt believe that Peter was hosting it, what does he know about cooking, what does he know about anything. I used to watch him on Changing Rooms and some other Reno show and all he does is cause trouble. He is a funny guy but cooking i am not sure. I will still watch the show because like you i enjoy it.
I was going the start the same thread:D
I am VERY VERY disapointed that Peter Everett is now the host. I realy just can't stand the guy:( I stopped watching Renevation Rescue because he is so anoying.
My DD just loves the show and says that she wants to be a cook on Ready Steady Cook when she grows up. She has also called out 2 min to go when we have been cooking togethor.

Hahahahah !
My bubs also hears the theme song now & gets excited LOL !
Im thinking his first real words will be " ready steady cook ! " hahahah !
Im also saddened to find Nick has gone :(
Who knows maybe he didnt want to do it anymore but i will be rather annoyed if they sacked him for Pete !
I actually dont mind Peter Everett but not in this sort of thing to me its just wrong !!
I much prefered the old style i must say but who knows maybe we just need to get used to it ! :)
Yes, we need to get to the bottom of this! Was he sacked? I was never a huge fan of his work, but by golly he was better than Everett!:D

You mean Nick is gone? YAY YAY YAY. That guy was the most annoying person on Australian TV (now David on 9am has taken that title, but that's another thread:rolleyes: ). I love Ready Steady Cook but stopped watching it because he was so damn annoying. He would always get in the way of the chefs and speak to them like they were idiots and he knew everything about everything. Argh, he annoyed me. However, Peter Everett??? What are they thinking? I think I see a tug of war going on with him and David from 9am for TV's most annoying. What's with Channel 10 and their love of crappy hosts this year?????

I used to love the show - haven't been able to watch it with Peter hosting due to work ggggrrrr.
I used to go to school with Manu the french dude (little secret - he is not really french - accent is a fake!! Don't know why they have created this illusion). We used to be really good friends - very cute in his school days too. Haven't spoken to him in years though so can't ask him what the go is.
wasn't Nick an actual chef??? I was under that impression anyway (I also LOVE the show :D) I just cant take Peter seriously ... sad.... :( I keep expecting him to do the silly stuff he did on Reno Rescue... like wearing a shower cap and facial mask...
not the right 'fit' for the show...

They have also changed the time that it is on here in Brisbane. I turned the tv on at 2.30pm and found it on with that stupid Peter Everett on. I agree, it is a toss up between him and David Reyne. Every time DR opens his mouth it sounds condescending.
isn't it funny how people's chemistry can make or break a show!!!
I am totally addicted to sunrise... I dont feel that any of it is forced... and yet david and kim just seem to have to go to soooo much effort to even have a conversation!!! - it is like they are trying to crack a joke everytime!!! -
or win viewers by appearing really passionate about fighting crime (today it was pedophiles... the other day it was the people who had stolen from the fire fighters - both horrid situations... but really,.... they just struggled with it....

I actually like Peter Everett, but have to agree he does NOT belong on Ready Steady Cook.
I thought when I saw the title of this thread you would all be talking about the chef that was on on Monday. I read in todays paper that viewers were disgusted that he kept wiping his nose with his tea towel! major yuck!!! Apparently he wiped his nose 6 times during the show and wiped his forehead a few times.

I used to be addicted to this show..........................that was until................ I found Bubhub! :D
I've only watched a few minutes of the new series and Peter Everett is not really doing much for it............you can tell he is reading the lines, they don't just roll off his tongue (which the old host was good at).
We actually went in the audience of one of their "celebrity" shows. They had two of the Neighbours cast and it was a fun night. They gave us wine and nibblies before the show started, but I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to taste the food.
For all you addict's, a bit of inside goss - you know when they ask one chef to think about what they are going to do with the ingredients while they talk with the other chef..............well they turn the camera's off for about 20mins while both chefs do this and start to prepare .......I was disappointed....... I thought they did it then and there - on the spot! They say the reason they do this is so they can write down the menu for the host to be able to read (as it's a bit hard for him to remember).
No way.....can't believe they turn the cameras off! I used to wonder how Nick remembered everything the chefs had just rattled off...i was impressed! Oh, and i always wondered how they had boiling hot water sitting under the counter to boil pasta. Will watch the show from a new angle now!
I was never really that fussed about Nick, thought he was a bit of a dork, but compared to Peter he was actually a pretty good host. I agree, you can really tell Peter is reading his lines. I hope he gets better at it!
when DD was born she was in neo-natal for 10 days and i stayed in the hospital the whole time. i didn't sleep very well at night so i used to watch crap tv on hospital tv. that where i got hooked on ready steady cook. it was on at 5am in the morning, 11am, and i think 7pm at night. It was the british series with black hillarious cook.
Once I was back home I watched it again but i haven't watched the new series yet so i will do this avro and tell you what i think

I love the english version too.
Ainsley Harriet is the host and he's so much better than the Aussie one. He's fairly 'in your face' but the way he does that little dance when he flips food in the frypan makes me laugh.
Hi,
Im disapointed Nick has gone too.. I e'mailed chanel 10 about it but have not go a reply at this point in time. I dont think i will get one. Nick is also now off the website too. http://www.readysteadycook.ten.com.au/home.asp
I haven't been too fussed on the Aussie version after watching Ainsley on the english version on Foxtel for a couple of years now.
Seems channel 10 has made all sorts of mistakes in their new daytime programming what with 9am and that terrible couch, the new home show with Alyssa Jane Cook and one of the Daddos and Peter Everett in RSC.......
What a shame!
Now I really feel ripped off, Manu is not french and they stop the camera's for 20 min:( Not happy
So who is everyones favourite chef?
I love Toby and who could not love Alastair:)

got to say I watch RSC any day that I am not working, I will miss nick:(
now I got it, can't beliave they turnth ecamera off and I fell for their quick qork, cause I actually tried to do couple of their recipes in the 20 mins it did not work, I had DH helping me but by the time we finished chopping up and praparing things we had already lost 15 min.
I don't think the new host will bother me that much as long as the actuall food is intresting then I can write while the host is talking :p
oh I love janelle she had a very similar taste to mine. :)

Hi, I thought that peter everatt would grow on me as bein the host but i still dont like him, he isn;t as natural as Nick was and is a complete LOSER. Although i think i like that Peter doesnt know anythin about cook in so the chefs really explain it properly to him.
Shame about Manu not bein french I think thats wat made him really attractive. Imagine that voice whisperin in your ear. MMMM.........
I was very excited about the Aussie version of RSC starting since I have watched the UK version for years. But once I heard the guy, Nick (?), use the word "chef" alot, I knew he had ripped that off from Ainsley and I couldnt stand the Aussie version from then on. Besides Nick just annoyed me from the beginning.
I also liked the woman who use to host the UK version---I think her name was Fran?
I was home sick today and got to watch it and as much as i hated the old host he did an infinitely better job than this guy! I like Peter Everett but he just isn't host material!

I used to watch it all the time, but yeah Peter Everett is such a 'how could I put it.. ' an annoying guy ;) His voice just grates on my nerves! I can even hear it in my ears now.. I used to like the other guy a lot better. I think all the chefs do now is bag him out..

Oh this thread is awesome!!!
I watched and loved the old series of Ready Steady Cook... except for that damn Nick guy!!!
I was so ready to e-mail them and tell 'em to get rid of him...
So... then comes the new season... with a new host... 'Yippee, I said' .... but the guy is a complete knob!!!
I whinge about it on a daily basis to my poor husband!
This Peter guy is just always in the way and making silly little sexual inuendos... oh, he is goddamn awful!!
I would prefer Nick to come back... and I couldn't stand him!!
Ok, glad I got all that out!! I'm so glad to have found that I'm not the only one with a problem!!
Maybe we could start a support group :D
HA!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one... I have tried to watch the Aussie RSC, but I usually end up changing the channel and never making it back.
I LOVE the UK one with Ainsley. That show is WAY better than the Aussie one. The host, the chefs, the set, the flip cards the audience holds up to vote.. all of it better!
It is wierd that it can be so similar and yet so much better! boo-hoo for Australia!:)
i love ready steady cook too but how gay is that new host???
the other guy was a bit of a **** but it was better then this guy.
and seven heven is so sappy. get rid of that crap. dr. phil is growing on me but i loved it when they had sienfield.
by the way my 13 month boy loves the theme song too to RSC. i have to turn it down if he is asleep or he wakes up :)
have fun :)
I used to go to school with Manu the french dude (little secret - he is not really french - accent is a fake!! Don't know why they have created this illusion). We used to be really good friends - very cute in his school days too. Haven't spoken to him in years though so can't ask him what the go is.
are you serious manu isnt really french...well with that french accent??? what a shame.. that accent is cute... :p
no more ready steady cook for me... ;)
Manu Fieldel really is French, and is accent is real. He only moved to Australia about 2 years ago. MissUnderstood, you must've known some other Manu.

I think that the UK version is much better than the Aussie version. While I was on maternity leave I would watch it everyday on Foxtel.
I used to love watching the UK version of RSC and although I do watch the aussie one now and then, its just not the same - I think both hosts were quite annoying but i do get some good food ideas and recipes from the show.

How is it that Peter Everett is STILL hosting Ready Steady Cook? He is a joke!
His hosting skills are poor.
His knowledge of cooking is extremely narrow.
The chef's give hime the simplest of tasks and he stuffs them up every time.
He always talks over the top of both the chef's and the guests.
He is basically like a little child who get's in the way in the kitchen and ruins everything!!
I do love the show, but Peter, you are the worst part of my day!

Just thought I'd hijack your thread. Noticed that RSC is quite popular. Anyone in the Wollongong area might be interested that there's a touring version of RSC coming to Westfield Warrawong in October.

I like Peter Everett now but I must admit that I found him to be quite annoying when he first took over. He may be as camp as a row of tents but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I like that he is so hopeless, although he is showing some improvement, because he asks so many questions I have taken in alot from the chefs answers. I always had a feeling that they stopped the cameras while filming because although they're professional chefs I really couldn't see how they could do everything they needed to in 20 mins, just didn't seem possible. I think Manu is definitely French, if not he's a damn good actor. Bring back Toby!!! Valentine

Did anyone watch today's show? This disgusting host smoothened the 'apron' of a guest and almost kissed her on the ears.Maybe some people don't mind, but I think the name of the show should be changed to Ready Steady Grab Whatever You Can  Peter Everett-you're such a loser!

I have only ever known RSC with Peter as host, since DS is only 10 months. I hate to say it, considereing other opinion on this thread, but I think he is hilarious!
The fact he knows nothing about cooking (although he obviously has learnt about sumac since he talks about it everyday!!!) just makes it funnier. He can't seem to do anything he is asked to do by the chefs properly, and never seems to know what different ingredients are.
The camp style and little innuendos lighten the mood and I personally love when he tells me to pop off an make a cupa in the ad breaks- I usually do! Bwahahahahahahah.
