View Full Version : More texture?
I was just curious when did you start adding more lumps(texture)to your bubs solids? How did you do this, and how did bubs cope?
Any suggestions would be gr8:D
Thanks jessie

Hi Jess
Both of my bubs were different.
DS started solids at around 4 months but had a very strong gag reflex so we started with lumpy food at around 13 months.
DD on the other hand never had an issue with lumpy food and was eating sandwiches at 6 months.
In both instances I simply went from pureed mush to mashed mush!!

If your using a stick blender like me, just jab it rather than pureeing.
Or an easier way, buy a jar of the older baby food to try. I did it with MJ & at 8months she LOVES the 1-3 year old stuff  Now I just chop stuff up, no pureeing or mashing at all :)

Thank you ladies i will just give her a go and see what happens!

Another way to do it is to separate your cooked veg/meat into two parts. Puree the first part as you normally would and then add the 2nd part and give it just a bit more pureeing. The 2nd part gets less time and so stays a bit lumpier, but you've still got the fully purreed stuff too so bub is not getting an abrupt change of texture.
