View Full Version : Can you help? Recommend a Bris N'side GP open to discussing food intolerance?

My DD has an issue with cow's milk protein. Comes out in hives, rashes, and a sore tummy. So, out the milk went.

She now also regularly complains about "sore tummy, Mummy".

I suspect that she also doesn't tolerate wheat products.

But when I went to the GP today I was greeted with a willingness to on-refer me to a Paed but with that air of scepticism.

Now, I want to find a GP and a paed in Brisbane (preferably N'side) who is open to discussing it without telling me that she will grow out of it.

Anyone???

I will get back to you in the next day or so as I have a friend in Brisbane who is tackling a serious case of this at the moment with brilliant medical support.

I'd love to find a GP too. I'll be watching this thread!

Thanks, draught.

Been swamped on the home front, so have just realised I owe you an email...you & others. I'm sure to get blacklisted soon for tardy responses. Working on bringing my world back under control so I can recharge and respond to emails before my inbox dwindles to "Dear John" emails...

Hope all is well with you, your other half, and smaller people.

Appreciate any names you can dig up. Little E is very cute, growing fast, but I hate hearing her little "tummy sore, Mummy" each day.

I have emailed MammaMia but for those watching for responses the answer is - no GP recommendation as this stuff is complicated - but if you can get a referral to the following specialists they are apparently worth their weight in gold. Dr Francis Connor is a paediatric gastroenterologist, who now works publicly from the Royal Childrens. Dr Peter Smith works with her and is a paediatric allergist with an international reputation. The advice I got was to get moving on it as it could take 6 months to see them.

MM - don't worry about the emails - you are still on my mailing list! Love to Papa Guiseppe and the kidlets!

Hi there,

I just took my bub to an Environmental Nutritionist at Hawthorne named Dr Greg Emerson.
He specialises in allergies and has suggested she might have a cow's milk intolerance.

He was very helpful and my child health clinic nurse suggested him.
