I have a 17 week old baby boy who is large and healthy however lately he has decided to want to feed every 2 - 2 1/2 hours. He started sleeping through the night and I was feeding him every 3 - 3 1/2 hours but now he is waking again twice a night and wanting to feed every 2 or so hours during the day. The child health nurse said all was o.k with him having 4 feeds a day and one early morning feed but now he is trying to have about 6??? Could this be a growth spurt or is it possible that he may want something more than boobie juice? I was thinking of introducing rice cereal in the next couple of weeks as it appears to me that he is constantly hungry???? He is a day cat napper!!!!!:babydust2: Advice please??

That sounds like my boy! If it were me I'd just go with it for now - he's probably just trying to boost your supply :) If you're feeding him as often as he wants food, he really won't need anything else (and there are some really good reasons not to introduce solids yet).
Also, my bub just did this when he was a bit off-colour ... do you think your baby could have one of the bugs that are going around (or even be teething?).
It's very normal for babies that young to still be having alot of feeds each day. I think my DS still has around 6 or 7, and he's nearly 7 months!
I hope you get it sorted soon :)

I agree - to me it is too soon to be offering solids, and if it is part of a growth spurt the extra feeds will help beef up your supply if that's what he needs.
DS is almost 15weeks and he has 5-7 breastfeeds per day - sometimes sleeping from 9-5am, other times waking at 2am.

I agree with everything everyone has said. When breastfeeding we have no choice but to trust them as we can't see how much they're getting. Good luck.
BTW my bub still has 4-5 feeds/day and is 9 months old and on solids (and eats a lot!).
My DS was a bobbie monster to I needed to give him ceral from 4mnths he slept better and cried less. Give it a chance but dont stop the bobbie juice

my bubs doing this too!
Shes having about 8 feeds a day from 4.30am-7.30pm then she'll sleep for 9-10 hrs straight at night
Sleeping through is normal BUT she usually only has 6feeds in the 12 hours during the day
So I am wondering about solids too
BUT I am going to do my best to hold out till 6mths as my son has allergies and I dont want to go through that with my dd
All the best to you with the feeding and the sleeping:thumbsup:
