Hi! My daughter's Gastro has requested she start having 50% of her feeds at night by a Kangaroo Pump. I was lucky to have a nice lady from her special play group to loan us one until PADP come through.
I attempted to use it last night and it worked okay but then every 5 minutes it would say "Flow Error" and alarm. I press hold then taken if off hold again and it continues again until 5 minutes later. I have no idea what the problem is? Does anyone know what could be going wrong? She is still on Nasal Gastric Tube for the next 4-6 weeks until the Gastrostomy Tube is put in at Sydney Children's Hospital.
Help? I'm stuck? Any ideas or experience with the same thing?

flow error the most anoying thing the midle of the night isnt it, we had a kanger pump for ages so i know what your talking about, it is generaly from the drip chamber being to full as if it is the pump gets flow error i find the best thing is to only fill the drip chamber to 1/4 we up to the line that way less likely to fill tomuch, the other way you get flow erros if it is not up right i dont know if you have the kanger pet, orone on the iv pole if it is the pet and you have it in a bag makesure always up right, the other cause for a flow error can be from the feed not being high enough from the pump and feed not run through evenly

i think i have covered al i can think of,
if you dont mind me asking what is the reson for DD tube feeds, kenzees is GORD, DGE, swallowing issues, she is continuos fed 35mls an hour 24 a day

Thanks for the advice. The drip chamber is a 1/4 full only. I have the bag hanging from the IV pole but maybe it isn't high enough?

My daughter was born 550grams 26 weeks. She refused the bottle due to severe reflux and will not drink and barely eat a thing. She also gags really bad as well. I keep trying solids 3 x times day but no success.
She is tiny only 6.4kgs and she is 16 months old now (12.5 mths corrected). She has chronic lung disease, asthma, hayfever, developmental delay she doesn't sit up unaided yet. Possible hearing problems in one ear, and last thing on the list now is her eyes nothing too serious but they think she might have to wear glasses. But she is the most perfect little girl ever!!!

There is a sensor in them, sometimes if you shake the drip chamber around it stops it, if there is milk stuck on the side of it!!! I HATE error flow, it drives you insane, Those pumps also have to be exactly flat as well, any angle will set it off!!!
