5 am and I can't sleep :( too many things running through my head
Another question:
Will Metformin make my period late or skip?
Been reading alot on http://www.topix.net/forum/drug/metformin/TPAR8P8PDOU6S7E97 and they are all saying almost the same thing: metformin made their period disappear...
Please help, I am desperate

I cant say that Ive heard it will make af disappear, but from my experience, clomid did nothing until I started taking met. The met regulated my cycle (I wasnt getting it at all without meds) and started ovulating, even without the clomid. Not to mention you should be on it for health reasons if you're insulin resistant. Definitely talk to your dr about it! Good luck! :)

I hadn't had a period for 3 months. I started Metformin on 27/12/06, got AF on 02/01/07 (7 days later), and fell pregnant 2 weeks after that  . Pretty amazing huh? Unfortunately I lost the baby, but Metformin obviously made me ovulate. Prior to that DH and I had been TTC for 2 years!
That's my only experience with Metformin because although my FS told me to start taking it again when I got my first period after m/c, he has since told me to stop to give my body a break but I'm sure he'll tell me to resume taking it when I see him next week. My cycles are now 41 days long, and I don't think I'm ovulating on my own - not sure  so I'll be glad when he puts me back on it.
So in answer to your question, it seemed to work for me and brought my period on but I'm not sure what would have happened the following month, or the month after that in terms of regulating AF because I stopped taking it due to falling pregnant. Hope that makes sense. Everyone's different I guess, and I know of a few ladies who still haven't got their periods since starting it awhile ago.

without knowing more about you there is no way we can give you proper advice. I suggest you visit a fertility specialist (your GP will be able to refer you) to talk over your current situation and options.
Many people with PCOS still ovulate, some regularly some occasionally and some (like me and my sisters) dont really at all (withour fertiilty drugs)
Metformin will only be prescribed if you have Insulin Resistance and are overweight enough for it to be affecting your ovulation.
Clomid is normally the starting drug (with or without metformin if you need it). It is in tablet form.
From there you have other options such as FSH injections and perhaps IUI (with either Clomid or FSH) before IVF if you need to go that far.
Although I love and value message boards such as these for something like treatment advice you really should speak with a medical professional who can tell you the correct information to suit you.
Good luck Hun. :wizard:
And remember PCOS does NOT mean you cannot have children! It may well in most cases make the journey a little harder but that will all be forgotten when you get that positive pregnancy test!
