Hey Girls:)
I was wondering if any of you have given birth at the Attadale Private Hospital in Perth before? I am thinking of registering in there for next bub as my OB delivers there but dont know of anyone who has birthed there and its always nice to have another womans opinion when it comes to such a big decision.
Can any of you help?

My sister had her daughter there just before Xmas. She was in hospital over Xmas & as she is a single mother & didn't really want to go home to an empty house, she stay in hospital for about 6 days!
The midwives were great & she had her own room with a double bed & private bathroom.
The food was fantastic too!
It is in a really nice quiet spot & has a park next to it. She had a door from her room to the park outside & we went & had a picnic for Xmas dinner with her.

It was really nice. She definitely recommends it!

Thank you SO much Lindy:) - I feel happy about it already now that you said that. My OB is Chris Gunnell and I just found out that he now only delivers there - he used to deliver at Murdoch too which is what I orginally wanted as its closer.

My GP said that Attadale is an older hospital but that they have just had renovations - was the maternity ward modern or older - if you remember that is:o

I didn't end up having my DD at Attadale but did go check Attadale out (My OB's rooms are attached to the hospital) It was very nice and they were just renovating but found staff were very friendly and rooms were great. Only decided to go to Murdoch as it was very close to my house.

I would definately go to Attadale for the next one. Murdoch nice but too large and not as friendly.

I had my bbay at Attadale and I highly recommend it!!

It has a ward dedicated solely for maternity and it's absolutely beautiful. Lovely and quiet. All the rooms overlook this lovely park and there are double bed rooms if you want your DH to stay with you. Own bathroom, you can choose your meals and they give you the opportunity to stay as long or as little as you like.

The delivery rooms are awesome. The beds can be adjusted to any postition for birthing and there is a bath which is big enough to fit you and partner (also gas in that room).

The nurses are lovely and the obs are awesome. I had Simon Clark. All the specialists are there in the hospital too. You can also go to classes there and they have many resources to help you prepare.

Do it!! It really is lovely.

Plus they are pretty good about visitors and family etc. You can also decide whether or not you want visitors. Sometimes it is quite hard trying to entertain people when you have just given birth, so you can get the front desk to "monitor" the visitors for you.

Anyway, I hope this has helped!

Goodluck with you pregnancy!!

Love Brooke xxoo

Yep, we had Ava at Attadale, also under Simon Clarke who is Chris Gunnells offsider.

A lovely hospital, great staff, excellent facilities and very relaxed and supportive.

The birthing suite was excellent. Felt like we were right at home.

The only problem was the hot water. We were there in August and the hot water was playing up at times.........like right after Ava was born  and I had a nice COLD shower!

Anyway, other than that (which I am sure would have been fixed by now) we had a great time there and DH stayed for the entire 5 days with me and was catered for as well.

my best friend had her bubs at attadale last year when they were still doing construction work but it looked very comfortable but i found the rooms very cramped. you could hardly move in there. but the nursery was huge and they had comfortable chairs to feed in it.

i had DD at SJOG - Subiaco and the rooms were huge and very comfortable

alleycat2 - i do agree that the rooms at attadale are a little crampy...a friend had a DD there in 04 & i did find the rooms a little small (with the double bed) but saying that i was in the old st marys ward at SJOG murdoch & the old rooms weren't that much bigger:) ...though the new ones in SJOG murdoch seem HUGE my cousin had a bub back in Oct. Now i just have to find out if Chris will still be delierving old patients at murdoch & just having all the new patients delivering at attadale....hopefully i wont have long too wait:p

Rik - most definatly...coffee for us in attadale..we could pick up the boys from work & we could all go:D

Ugh - I hate crampy rooms:( I hope they have improved things somewhat with their new renovations and all. I am doing the 'tour' on Sunday Arvo so hopefully things will be ok.
My friend had a baby at SJOG Subi last August but they were still renovating and she only got a single bed in a very small room. I'd love to see what their new set up is as their renovations have been huge! Also my OB doesnt deliver there anyway. I hear Murdoch has just done big renovations to their maternity suite too?
Private hospitals are odd sometimes - you walk in and think "soo whats so special about this place that Im paying all this money for?" do you know what I mean? I had my last baby at Galliers Private and the rooms were really big and looked like a suite out of a nice hotel - so classy. Hmmm maybe we should do the movie star thing, have the baby in the hospital and then check into the Hyatt:)

I don't know that the renovations actually altered the rooms. I think it was just a bit of a general upgrade.

Just a point, after having a natural delivery, I found getting up and down to the double bed we had (they were wuite low) a bit hard. Something to keep in mind but to have my DH stay with me I wasn't too concerned about it.

Thanks goodness for donut pillows :p

Dr Simon Clarke is my OB at Attidale Hospital, which I have never seen or really heard of before.

Whats everyones experinces with him and about the hospital itself compaired to other hospitals? Is it a nice hospital?
