View Full Version : ideas for EGGS
My chooks are laying quite a bit and my hubby is working away so I have so many extra eggs. I have been giving them to family. My kids won't eat them any more.:hair: Whether they are boiled, on sandwiches, quiches. I am more after savoury dishes rather then cakes/muffins.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks

Im In the same boat. We have been freezing the egg white, but can't do that with the yolk, so making a heck of a lot of custard.
I'll be watching this thread!
I love lots of fried egg (egg a splash of milk, salt and pepper - whisked, then fried like crepes in a lightly oiled pan) roughly chopped in my fired rice or noodle dishes...
they are also yummy on sandwhiches like this as an alternative to mashed egg... i have it witha little tomoto sauce.
umm Fritattas are a good one too but similar to quiche I guess..
Thats all i can think of right now but may come back.
and of course Pavlova or macaroons!
Good luck! Nothing like eggs from your own back yard.. our chooks have just gone to stay at a friends for a while and I am missing the eggs alreday!
lol i would go and make up heaps of quiches etc then give them to family to eat yummm!! otherwise im going to go and see what recipies i can dig up for ya!!
lemon butter and merangues (I put food colour in them) but I don't have any savoury stories.
might get a few ideas from this site too...

Make some sausage rolls and freeze them....omelettes pancakes use egg in white sauces umm thinking thinking! Will your kids eat pototo salad you could always make an egg pototo salad...
Make a vegie lasagne or a vegie back with egg, meatloaf with whole eggs in there so when sliced they dont even know its there
Cant think of much savoury things! Would they eat mini quiches?

Quiche!
If you have a bit of freeezer space, quiches can be great to freeze and reheat later.
You can make little mini ones in a muffin pan, these are super easy, line muffin pan with pastry, crack egg into each muffin hole, sprinkle with herbs/spices, top with a slice of tomatoand a sprinkle of cheese and bake.
Easy!
Thank you for your ideas. Didn't know about the white sauce!!!!! THey love white sauce.
Have done most of the suggestions and will try to experiment some more.
Hey, I just made chocolate mousse and there is 4 eggs in that! YUM!
