Sorry if this has been posted already, but I have some questions about ovulation.

At the risk of sounding stupid, how do you know when/if your ovulating? I dont get any pains to indicate I ovulate.

I have tried the Maybe Baby ovulation test thing, but not had very good results with it. (I didnt get many ferns)

What is this ovulation calender you guys talk about? And what is the thing with taking your temperature? If you could help with advice or post any links it would be really helpful.

I want to try for a boy, Im aware you have to BD on ovulation day for the best chance, but im not sure what day I ovulate. Is it always day 14?

it is generally 14 days before af due. so if you have a 28day cycle then yes it is day 14.

Hi babydreamz:wave:

I'm fairly new to this too and just bought myself an ovulation thermometer today (like a normal one but with smaller gradings in temp so more accurate.)

I am about to check out the fertility friend charting system. had a quick look yesterday. It looked really complicated at first, but I think you basically just take your temp each day and record it and then it puts up a nice graph of it for you to show when you might ovulate, and then afterwards, when you actually did ovulate.

Hope someone with more knowledge comes along soon.

Hi Fludo,

Where did you get your thermometer from? I will take a look at the site you mentioned, I dont know if you saw but in another thread someone mentioned mymonthlycycles.com
It may be of help, I think it helps determine ovulation or something, but yeah some more advice would be great :D Its difficult when you dont know that your ovulating. So im just assuming it is day 14, I want to try for a boy, so for me ovulation day is pretty important. :)
Anyway best of luck :fingerscrossed:

I bought my ovulation thermometer at the chemist. They had digital thermometers too, but I just got a normal one. It was $12.95, and the normal thermometers were $7.95. The digital were around $20 I think.

I did see the other site mymonthlycycles but have already set myself up on fertility friend. worked out the basics now. good luck!

fertility friend is great, i find paying the fee for the VIP membership very worthwhile too and definitely make sure you do the course so you understand it all :)
