My 11 1/2 week old girl is gowing through a growth spurt and all this extra feeding is leading to many wet suits! Im happy with the terries that Im using. Folding in the kyte method. Ive tried many different covers such as motherease, plastic pilchers but with all of them she seems to wet the sides near her legs, causing the cloth trimming near the legs of the cover to get saturated resulting in wet outfits and extra washing. Ive heard about the BBB Baby behinds brand covers and I hope that they will do the job but was wondering what my other options are.
Im pretty desperate for a cover that really works!! Even considering a different way of folding her nappies. Dont really want to purchase prefolded nappies as I already have heaps of fluffy terry and flanelette squares.
Any help would be appreciated!!
oh hon .. it doesn't surprise me that the PVC covers have leaked .. they are icky ... :(
google the bummis covers (they have them at the weewuns- they are patterned ) or the babybehind covers (which are back in a range of funky colours :) not just white now)
seriously .. I have only got two covers .. and when Jack was younger - they were all I used .. and I had minimal issue with both brands ..

I really like both my PUL and wool BBH covers. Sounds like you need something with gussets though - tots bots are nice and have gussets.
What about a nice pair of woolen shorties? They go down the leg a bit, like shorts, so you probably wouldn't have any leaking down the legs

I love my BBH PUL and wool covers...knitted woolies are great. I also have a staccinator woollen cover that I love.

I agree with you - most covers seem too brief in the leg for flats, I am finding. I use the origami fold, and it tends to be long around the thighs.
I honestly loved Fluffies Pilchers - the acrylic fleece ones - for DD#1 and DD#2, and I have used them for DS until I could no longer buy his size. No one stocks size 1 or 2 anymore.
I've tried Motherease Airflow, Stacinator and a couple of others.
I'm considering dragging out my knitting machine and whipping up some homemade wool ones without the time overhead of handknitting.
Try iish fly cover...they have cheap pul covers especially made for flat nappies...

I second this:thumbsup:
They are the only two covers i use ( apart from soakers) and i never have any leaks!
I'd have a look at getting some woollies, probably shorties and longies would be the go. They're need less washing than PUL covers, and so long as you lanolise them (very easy to do) about every 6 or so weeks then they'll serve you well.
I use the BB PUL and Wool wraps over flats and they work great. When you're putting the flat on are you tucking in the sides as much as possible? I was always on my df's back to do this (he hardly ever would though:mad: ) because otherwise they would kind of stick out of the cover and wick onto the clothes - producing one wet bubba!
Another really cheap and easy thing to do would be to make some bumjumpers. Google for a pattern. It's basically cutting the pieces from an old, wool jumper (look in Op shops for great bargains) and sewing them together.
Once I finish making my first pair of longies I'm going to have a go at making a bumjumper. Much quicker than making longies!
