Has anyone found it hard to get pregnant while breastfeeding? Did you have to give up night nursing to encourage your cycle to return?
I've looked into this.
I'm assuming your bleed has returned. The average amount of time fertility takes to return is 14.5 months PP (or the might have been the 'mean' amount of time)
Anyway, seeing as you can have anovulotory cycles (obviously not ovulating would make it prettty hard to concieve) or a luteal phase defect where the time from ovulation to the onset of menstruation is too short meaning the lining if the uterus is unprepared for implantation of the fertilised egg, it might be worth getting a Ovulation Prediction Kit.
Have you been observing temps/mucous etc??
Oops, it's early !!! Okay I realise your cycle hasn't returned on second read of your post :o
I have read cases where the mum drops a feed suddenly which prompts the cycel to return and then resumes that feed upon conception
Yep, i'm tandem nursing and ttc, my cycles have been all over the place. I also tandem night nurse, and am not about to wean either child, so I am just waiting it out.
I figure when they are truly ready to feed less, and it re-activates my cycles, then it is a signal that my body, and my family are ready for another child to join us.
My youngest is 18 months now, and I'm pretty sure I am having my first fertile cycle now.:fingerscrossed:
All the best to you.
I got af back at 3 months pp, and started ovulating after 2 cycles (I am very good at picking my fertile signs, and confirmed it with an OPT. My DD stopped night feeds for a little while (she resumed again, go figure), which was enough to bring my cycle back (we also use a dummy, so that didn't help). I am now pregnant and DD is 9 months old. She still breastfeeds about 7 times a day, and 3 overnight.
Every woman is different. Personally I chose to nightwean my DS in order to concieve my DD. I think I would have had trouble concieving if I had not done so. But that is just me. I tandem feed my two now so it didn't have a detrimental effect on my BF relationship with my DS. In fact he started to sleep through the night- which was useful while I was preggy and exhausted.
Best of luck.:fingerscrossed:

I fell pregnant when DS was 13 months old. I was feeding morning and night (during the night and before bed). We were trying for 9 months before I fell pregnant. My cycle was all over the place until DS was about 9-10 months old.

Nope not for me
I fell pregnant while breastfeeding then had a M/C and then fell pregnant again with Taliyah. So not hard at all
