Hi Everyone-
my name is Emma, 32, mum to boy Cy, 2.5. We have just moved to the Sandgate area in Brisbane after a big move from Sydney, then the Stafford area, before here. All the moving has left me pretty isolated, and the drive to our old playgroups is now too much with naps and everything else. The playgroup here is on Thursdays, which is out due to other commitments. So we are hoping that there are some other mums or dads in this area with the same predicament, looking for playdates, coffee, or chats on a regular basis. I am an artist/writer, and would also be keen to meet others in Brisbane combining these passions with parenthood. Fingers crossed...

Hi Emma
Welcome to Bub Hub
I'm from out Ipswich way so I'm not that close but if you check out the Brisbane section you will see there are lots of mums on here from the North side.

Hi Emma
Have you found our dinner thread? There's the long version http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=9726 and the short version (just time, date and location) http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=10233

That's an opportunity to meet some of us and work out who is near you (there are plenty). There was also a Northern suburbs weekly playdate at some point, but they were meeting Aspley way (is that too far?). Just check out the Brisbane area of the forum http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8. There's stacks of info there.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies everyone-
the dinner sounds great though I am unsure how to navigate properly round the site, or how to let you know I can go?! Or do you just turn up and look for the big group of mums? Aspley is not too far to go...will try and get the details. Thanks very much for the welcome and the advice...really lovely,
em xxoo

Hi Emma
Actually, the best way to let us know your coming is to PM (private message)Draught (she's the bossy one who makes it possible for us to get together :D ). You get to PMs from the top right corner of any hub screen.

You could also just leave a post saying you'll come in the long version of the dinner thread, Draught will probably see it and put you down, but a PM is safer. We need to know you're coming, because with so many we need to book.

Some of us who are terribly organised will actually post a description of what they are going to wear  , I can never manage that :D . But chances are, if you get there and see a table of twenty-odd loud women (and the occasional baby), that'll be us :D .

Let me know if you need any more help. I've been here so long that I've forgotten that some ppl may not know what PM means.

Cheers

Hi Emma, I'm from nw brisbane and used to teach over your way - Sangate is a lovely place isn't it? I'm a sort-of musician (ie I have a degree in it but don't get off my butt and play anything anymore)- is that artist enough for you ?:p My bub has just turned one and we're waiting with baited breath for her to take her first steps! Not sure if I'll be at the meet but it'd be nice to see you there if i can get there.

Hi Emma,

My name is Melissa I live at Burpengary not far from Sandgate and have a little girl whose 9 months. I enjoy art as a past time though I enjoy other people's work much more. I am happy to meet for a coffee sometime if you would like a chat. Anyway enjoy sandgate. I actually drove there this morning to drop the husband at the station to get a bus as the trains are on strike, he was a happy chappy I can tell you. Glad I'm on maternity leave.

Melissa.
