I use to do mine too but i figured this year i will need a decent return as i am depending on it. I think that might be why i am so nervous.

I just figured because i am relying on it tey would know where i could claim instead of me not knowing.

DF goes to the accountant and it pays off. He realised he is able to claim alot more than he thought and the fee is just taken out of his return.

If ur that nervous about doing it yourself ,aybe seeing an accountant would be better?

shorty if you're tax situation isn't too complicated you can try and use the e-tax program on the ATO website. it takes you step by step through every possible avenue you can have and has links to descriptions of the more difficult terminology.

I just finished doing DH's tax on etax and it only took me around 30 minutes, especially cause I had prepared all of our paperwork beforehand (although etax does let you save your work and come back to it later). It also gives you an estimate of your refund (yay!) so you can see how much you are entitled to get back (or pay). It's also great because you don't have to send any paperwork to the ATO. You just keep all the documents in case of an audit.

If you have a professional company do your tax (one that is recognised by the ATO) you can claim the money that you pay them back the following financial year
Just make sure you keep the reciept from them with the rest of your tax stuff.

I am also suffering Tax jitters this year. We usually do ours online, so I guess I control it all - but this year, due to ours being more complicated than I thought, we are getting it done by an accountant. Feeling a bit stressed as well!
