I was just wondering if anyone else has watched the Japanese cooking contest show - the Iron Chef - on SBS.

Love the way they've dubbed American accents over some of the commentary.

And the dramatics!

What a laugh!

Yep, we watch it occasionally when there's nothing else on....its a laugh alright! :D

dh and i get right into it, discussing what we think they are making, which one we think will win etc, the kids love it too, they think it is such a crack up:D

I was most upset to learn that the Chairman in his outrageous outfits is actually an actor, don't know why I thought he was a real person.

Have ever seen a dish cooked on that show that you eat?

Oh Mamma here we go again, I thought you would be watching the bill.

In years gone by, I would have been watching the Bill but it lost me with it's storylines a while ago. I'm not sure if Parkinson will be on later? Might retreat back to Aunty's arms then.

Lately, I haven't watched TV most nights - too much work to do - waiting for Australian Story to start again.

But tonight, I'm using the downstairs computer so the TV is on for company while I work.

I love the main man - never seen a face that can be so animated. :D

The Iron Chef is the funniest show i have ever watched !!

DH and I LOVE it especially the dubbed voices...

"mmm looks like he is using some ginger and lemongrass there...?"

"yes i have just checked in with the Iron Chef and it is Ginger and Lemongrass!"

AMAZING!! LOL :D

Can anyone tell me why they think the compares voice is never dubbed yet everyone elses is..??

Is it just me or do those stuffed capsicum look pretty ordinary? They're raving about the presentation but how hard is it to scoop & stuff?

1 minute to go.... the tension mounts!

Are you peeping in my windows? I am watching the Iron Chef RIGHT NOW. It is a laugh and a half (mainly the commentating). Although I have freind who have been watching longer than me and they preferred it when it was subtitled? Not as easy to watch while you're hubbing though.

LOL, but it's addictive can't elp wtching it, We always have a guess who they're going to pick at the start and who we think will win. DD seems to get it.

I also love the judging, it is so hilarious - esp the giggly actress that they always have on (oh - its actually a different giggly actress everytime - isn't it :D )

DH and I love this show-when we remember to put it on. Especially when they are guessing ingredients and the voice over that says KUSON! (SPELL?)

Another Iron Chef fan here, I just laugh at the chairman when at the start of the show he takes a huge bite of capsicum...he's just too weird especially with Michael Jackson gloves.

I love him! He is absolutely HILARIOUS! I thought he was a real person too...

Has anyone else noticed how much the translation of the female guest always sounds like porn? Like 'oh it's so soft in my mouth, it's just delicious, how did you do that"

It is my dream to be the female guest on that show. Boy the things I would say

You are so right about the female judge! It was so insipid but I couldn't put my finger on what was so ridiculous about the woman until I read your post!

Now, I will never be able to look at them in the same way.

The whole thing just crack's me up, the chef's are all so serious and under stress, but the dubbed voices take up more of your attention than what is actually happening.

The porn voice..................well that's just going to make an even funnier spin on the whole thing! :D
